Very friendly with excellent food and a great Japanese experience. The hot springs onsen were very special. Also very central and near the rope way entrance. Fun table tennis room also.
Would like coffee for breakfast.

Traditional Japanese hotel with VERY friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner were great.
Room was very spacious!
Good location, close to the cable car station, easy to reach. We got out at Kami-Gora station but you better get out at Sounzan Station then you don’t have to climb the steep hill with your luggage.
Ideal location for a day of visiting Hakone!
Make sure you check out the Onsen!

This was a great traditional stay. The family were lovely and couldn’t do enough to help us. We loved the yukatas provided in our rooms and wore them throughout our stay. Food was exceptional with a colourful and varied array both mornings and evenings. The onsen was a wonderful experience, authentic and spotless. Would definitely recommend as a break from the busyness.

The hotel is a bit further from Gora if you wish to go by yourself. But the hotel manager fetched us from Gora station by her car. She was very nice and friendly. The overall experience was great.

Good sized room. Clean. Towels provided.
From check-in, the entire staff was super friendly and helpful. Despite their limited English skills, they make an effort to communicate.
The dinner was really good. You can try and taste a variety of dishes.
They serve Japanese breakfast, which may take some getting used to for Western stomachs, but it's worth experiencing (I felt great afterward).
There are two alternating onsen areas for men and women. I was mostly alone there (which is also good because space is limited).
They provide a kimono that you can wear throughout the hotel.
Location: a bit secluded. Accessible by a local bus (line J; from Odawara Station, Platform E5). Cable car within walking distance. But honestly, you'll probably just stay in the hotel to enjoy the Onsen.
Good value for money.
Only minor issues.
The onsen areas seem a bit outdated in some places.
Only one room key, which can be inconvenient for gender-separated baths.
Our arrival was at 2 pm. The first sentence we heard was, "Check-in is at 3 pm." It didn't come across as very welcoming, especially since it seemed like the rooms were already prepared (check-out is at 10 am!). So, we had to go back out in the rain (we could leave our luggage there).

We had a lovely stay here. Room was huge and the Onsen facilities were excellent. We got both breakfast and dinner and both were tasty. It was really nice to stay somewhere more traditional. The host was very kind and even gave us a lift to the train station when we checked out.

Located near the Hakone Rope Way. Amazingly friendly staff. Dinner and breakfast was traditional Japanese and tasted great! would definitely come here again. Rooms were simple but comfortable enough. I didn’t really use the onsen. They are doing some maintenance which we knew way ahead, but I just don’t felt like it during our short stay.

good value, but room and facilities wise are really dated

Located in the Hakone Gora Onsen area in a quiet neighbourhood so it's best to drive there. Check in was quite easy. Our room was on 2nd floor (no lift!) and is quite basic, but I really liked their public bath. Our booking included half board - dinner was at 6.30pm (therefore one really needs to check in before 6pm as 6pm was the earliest session), and breakfast was at 8.30am (we were asked to choose our meal time). The food provided were of Japanese style and it was delicious, traditional and large serving!!!
Bathroom was quite small, but it doesn't worry us as we could take a nice and comfortable bath at the public bath.

The staff here is incredibly helpful and service-oriented. We had to arrive after the scheduled dinner time, but they arranged for us to have dinner served late. They offer free rides to-from from Gora station as well as some other nearby points of interest. The onsen, especially the side with the open-air area was very cool (wooden tubs) and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Great views from the rooms and from the dining area. Due to Covid-19, the staff all wear masks and the dining area is extended into the lounge, which was great and spread out. All of our meals were delicious ryokan-style assortments of small- and medium-sized dishes. Always left feeling full and refreshed.
