Hotel Richard Löwenherz

First time in Wachau and this hotel is perfext location and fit for the scenic valley. Quiet rooms, sunny balcony, ample parking, outdoor restaurant with view and in the middle of the town.

Breakfast buffet layout didn’t match the overall excellence.

Fabulous location overlooking Danube. Lovely rose garden where they will deliver a glass of wine for relaxing. Room very comfortable and spacious. Staff very personable and helpful.

Convenient location, only a short walk to shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel itself was full of history and had an abundance of interesting art and objects everywhere. The garden was lovely and included terraces with views of the Danube.

Durnstein is a little gem of a town. Its medieval architecture, cobbled streets and quaint character make you feel as though you have stepped back in time, and Hotel Richard adds another layer of charm to the experience. My favourite part of the hotel was undoubtedly its beautiful gardens overlooking the Danube. The views were lovely, but the gardens themselves were equally special — impeccably maintained, thoughtfully decorated with stone figures and large ornamental pots, and dotted with benches placed far enough apart to offer a wonderful sense of privacy. It was the perfect setting to sit back, soak in the scenery and enjoy the tranquillity of the Wachau Valley. Our room was lovely: compact, but thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. The hotel's interiors are full of character, with an eclectic collection of artefacts that gives the property a distinctive, old-world charm rather than the impersonal feel of a conventional hotel. A special mention to the young man at reception, who was exceptionally welcoming, warm and friendly. His hospitality made us feel genuinely comfortable from the moment we arrived. That personal touch was particularly refreshing and made our stay all the more memorable. Hotel Richard is not simply a place to stay while exploring Dürnstein; it is part of the experience itself. The beautiful gardens, peaceful Danube views and charming interiors make it a wonderful choice for anyone looking to slow down and savour the unique character of this historic town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
