Glasgow Arms Hotel Ultimo

Die Lage ist hervorragend, vieles ist fußläufig erreichbar, aber Sydney hat einen hervorragenden Nahverkehr. Das Gebäude hat einen ehrwürdigen Charakter. Unser Zimmer hatte einen sehr schönen Holzfußboden. Auch die Betten waren bequem. Auf unserer Etage gab es eine kleine Küchenecke, in der man sein Frühstück bereiten konnte. Das Pub im Haus hatte sehr leckeres Essen und wenn man sich an die einzelnen Tagesspecials hielt auch sehr preiswert. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und geduldig. Es gibt keinen Fahrstuhl im Haus, der allerdings wahrscheinlich nur mit Mühe einzubauen wäre, ohne den Charakter des Hauses zu verändern. Es wurde aber ohne Nachfrage Hilfe für das Gepäck angeboten.

Der einzige Punkt zur Beanstandung war das Bad. Bis zur Höhe des Fliesenspiegels war es in Ordnung. Die Sanitärobjekte waren in einwandfreiem Zustand. Allerdings oberhalb sollte mal wieder gestrichen werden.

My room was quite noisy, but that's on me I guess, since it's a bar hotel. The room was not really cleaned during my 6 days stay (they only made the bed, but did not take the trash out/clean the shower etc). One evening I found a massive waterbug next to my bed. Probably a mix between the lack of cleaning + some cracks in the bathroom ceiling.

The supplied cereal, milk and fruit drink were very welcome. The Parma, sorry, Parmi on Thursday night was amazing. $12 and there's no way I could finish the whole meal. Staff were very friendly. Bed was firm but comfortable. Bathroom is old and in need of some love but very clean and everything worked including instant hot water. TIP If using the light rail don't listen to Google or Apple Maps. Just cross straight to the Ian Thorpe Pool, Go to the lift and take it to Level 2. Just get off there walk to the street, look left and there it is. Very accessible. But no lift in the pub might make traveling with lots of luggage really difficult, also may not be suitable for older travellers and those with limited mobility.

The TV and WiFi just didn't work. There was no signal at all on the TV just error messages that it couldn't connect. Tried the hotel wifi but it was too slow to be of any use. AC was very loud and struggled in the heat.
