Lake Pichola Hotel

A gorgeous period hotel full of wonderful decor, an absolute delight. Fabulous location, beautiful terrace, magnificent chandeliers in the dining room, great rooftop restaurant, lush garden in the entry way. Loved our balcony overlooking the lake, airy & relaxing. We arrived early morning (6AM) & the hotel graciously gave us a small garden room to relax in until official check in time - it absolutely made our day! There is a fab birdcage & the resident Labrador is an absolute sweetie ( though needs a very thorough wash!) The house staff were very smart in their uniforms & red berets & very friendly & accommodating.

Nothing not to like about the hotel. The reception staff could be a bit more responsive to requests - they say ‘yes’ then do nothing about it - eg. Didn’t come for laundry, didn’t make our reservation at Upre. They seemed to be busy being busy rather than getting on with things but that is a small gripe. The laundry was collected the next day & despite no reservation we did of course get in at Upre, & had excellent cocktails & delicious food. Tipping is an ongoing imposition especially trying to save up small change - we much prefer hotels that have a tip box that you can add to at the end of your stay.

The service was friendly and prompt. The setting was idyllic and the food was delicious. Staff were always courteous and helpful. We were sad to leave

A beautiful heritage property to stay with your partner or family. Food was delicious. Good breakfast options. A very good property if you are looking for instagrammable picture spot. Value for money.

The property had beautiful views over the lake, and the staff were friendly and helpful

We booked a room without a lake view, and were put in quite a scruffy, dingy room at the back of the property that looked nothing like the photos. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the walls were paper thin. Since we were next to a busy road, we were kept awake for much of the night by dogs and cars. Our balcony was also helpfully blocked off by a large, rigid curtain (photo attached). We felt that the value for money here was pretty poor and that we were mostly paying for access to the (very beautiful) lake views. We’d recommend booking a nicer hotel further from the lake and just visiting for the views.
