We had a wonderful time in Ortigia . Elena's apartment was in a great location and easy walking to restaurants, shopping and sights. She met us with flowers, fruit and wine and was very helpful. Parking is a 7 minute walk away. Her air conditioning was wonderful since it was very warm while we were there!

Elena welcomed us to her lovely apartment as if we were already friends! Before we had even reserved her apartment she had been in touch, providing information and suggestions for our trip to Sicily. We had intended to see a performance at the Greek Theatre Festival and Elena secured tickets for us before we arrived, making sure we got the best seats! Her apartment is ideally situated in the heart of beautiful Ortigia and is equipped with everything needed - and more. Elena had stocked up for us with wine (three kinds!), water, olives, coffee, tea, pasta, pastries etc. etc..... Elena had even put flowers in vases in the lounge and bedroom. The apartment is exactly as shown in photos and the terrazzo is great for breakfast and an aperitivo before going out for dinner. The rooms are all spacious and with air conditioning - very welcome as it was so hot when we were there. After eight nights in Ortigia we had arranged to travel by bus to Palermo. Elena insisted on taking us to a cafe for a granita and a coffee on the morning of our departure and then taking us to the bus station. She is a lovely, warm lady - and great fun! Our stay in Ortigia was wonderful and made extra special by staying in Elena’s perfect place. If you are going to Siracusa, you should stay here - if we go back, we certainly will! Great stay in the heart of Ortigia. Elena is attentive to all your needs, gave great advice & recommendations and shared her love of the area. Steps from the Duomo great restaurants and a short walk to the beach make this nest above the din a great spot. The terrace offers a great respite for post pranzo and there was a values breeze in May. We hope to come back & share another granita with Elena again!

Elena’s apartment is just lovely, especially the terrace where we spent a lot of time. There are beautiful pieces of furniture and the bed is so comfortable. The location is perfect! A short walk to the Duomo Square, a nice breakfast shop and ATM. Elena is an excellent host, arranging a pick up at the Catania airport, leaving roses and wine and homemade pudding for us. I highly recommend this apartment and would go back in a flash! Thank you Elena!!

This unit is great for a short term stay however please understand it has 60 stairs to climb with your luggage. In the 3 weeks that we stayed you could rarely use kitchen as it is too hot. The kitchen is above a pizza restaurant and the only window opens above that. It also has the only TV in the apartment. There is a portable aircon but that refuses to work in that sort of heat. The outside space is on the same side as the kitchen. It was so airless and hot the iPad came on with its own warning about extreme heat. This is a great, handy apartment but if you love to cook and sit outside this is not an apartment for the summer months and we are Australian so we know when it's hot. The bedroom is airconed and comfortable.

We have just had the most wonderful stay for 6 nights in Elena's lovely apartment. We had everything we needed and more for our family of two adults with one 10 year old boy. It is well situated and charming. I would definitely recommend this as a fabulous place to stay

La casa di Elena è perfetta per un soggiorno di più giorni ad Ortigia (noi siamo rimasti 5 giorni): è nel mezzo dell' isola, a breve distanza a piedi da tutto ciò che merita di essere visitato (ed è tanto!!!). La casa è ben attrezzata, inclusa aria condizionata, e dotata dell' essenziale anche per cucinare in casa e mangiare sul bellissimo terrazzino pieno di piante. Elena è una padrona di casa molto gentile, attenta, persona colta e sensibile, che conosce bene ed ama molto la sua città, dunque preziosa di consigli e suggerimenti. Siamo stati molto colpiti dai fiori freschi con cui ci ha accolto in tutte le stanze (ed anche frutta fresca in frigorifero). Non solo, alla nostra partenza si è offerta di accompagnarci al terminal dei bus (ed anche qui con mazzolino di gelsomino profumato). The apartment itself is charming, with tall French windows opening to balconies, elegant period furniture in some of the rooms, and a pretty terrace where the only sound is birds singing. The kitchen is furnished with everything one can need for cooking, including pantry staples like olive oil, balsamic vinegar, seasonings, tea, coffee, bottled water, and many other items. There was nothing more we needed for washing dishes, doing laundry, and cleaning up after ourselves. The location could not be better. The building is on a picturesque pedestrian street leading to other pedestrian streets. It's within easy walking distance of every part of Ortigia, which is the oldest part of Syracuse and has fascinating historical sites such as a cathedral that incorporates 2500-year-old columns from the Temple of Athena that preceded it. Structures on Ortigia retain elements of its long history, from the ruins of the ancient Greek Temple of Apollo to the underground tunnels used as a bomb shelter during World War II. A stroll around the perimeter of the island is pleasantly refreshing. You will find a multitude of restaurants and cafes where you can sit and enjoy a stunning view of the blue, blue Mediterranean. And it's an easy walk to the Syracuse mainland over the short bridges. Ortigia is vibrant at night. Outdoor tables at the many eating establishments are full, and groups of people stroll through the streets and piazzas. One of the pleasures of staying in this apartment is being close to evening activity in a beautiful setting. Our six days on Ortigia were like a short trip to paradise for us. Elena's warmth and good humor and the care she took of us (even driving us to the train station) made it all the better. We highly recommend this apartment to anybody interested in Syracuse.

My wife and I had a very comfortable stay at this central Ortigia apartment. It was ideally situated for exploring Ortigia and had a very cute little terrace for lunch or drinks. The rooms were attractively furnished and were generous in size. They were also elegant as there were full-size french windows in the lounge and the bedroom. The air-conditioning was effective. The owner was more than helpful at all times and made our stay all the more enjoyable. Ortigia is very beautiful and there are cafes and restaurants in abundance. The food is almost always first-class. We would highly recommend this apartment.

We spent four very enjoyable nights in this apartment during April. It is equipped with everything needed for a holiday, including both conventional and microwave ovens. Location is superb, right in the centre of Ortigia about 1 minute's walk from the Duomo. It is easy to walk to any part of Ortigia, and there is a good selection of restaurants and shops nearby, as well as the fish and vegetable market. We were able to find free street parking, however the main car park on Ortigia (paying) is about 10 minutes brisk walk from the apartment. Everything in the apartment worked fine and the property was clean throughout. It is furnished in period style with some antique furniture. A major attraction is the outdoor terrace, which caught the early April sunshine during the day and has a sunshade if needed during the hotter weather. The apartment is quite spacious and the high ceilings help give an airy feel. There is heating and cooling, but we needed neither. The whole apartment was quiet during our stay; it is on the second floor (no lift) which is the top level of this building. Elena was very kind and helpful, she is full of information about her town and made sure we had everything we needed. We would happily stay here again.

The appartment is idealy located, in the most beautiful part of siracusa, the access to the sea is very quick (10 mn walk) and the appartment is in the middle of the other places like restaurants and places to visit. The terrasse of the appartement is a delight in august, with lots of plants which are bringing an pleasant area when the sun is hight and hot ! The decoration is a little old fasion but really clean with a good bed for sleeping ! And the welcome is really nice ! elena came with a flower at the bus station to bring our luggages to the flat. thank you again elena ! we loved our stay !

Splendido soggiorno in una magica Ortigia natalizia. Accolti in un graziosissimo appartamento decorato a festa dalla gentilissima proprietaria. Portiamo con noi uno splendido ricordo, sperando di tornare al più presto.

As central as possible in Ortigia with everything within a short walk, situated in a (very) restricted zone with regards to cars, but despite beng very central the aprtment is not noisy. We lived with our almost three year old son in this apartment for five weeks and it was a perfect fit. The apartment is well equipped, nice, and homely, with a very high ceiling making it feel very roomy. There is nice art on the walls, and all the equipment and utilities we needed. The air-condition gave did it's job both on hot and cold days. The kitchen is well equipped for making your own meals, both cold and warm (we had most of our meals at home). The terrace is perfect for meals or just relaxing. And important for long stays, and for parents of small children, there is a well-functioning washing machine. Elena was the best host imaginable, providing a dictionary when it became clear none of us could talk much italian, bringing our son toys for the beach, taking us for walks and explaing the history and architecture of the more hidden parts of Ortigia, tipping us about local festivities, specialty shops, restaurants, etc, and in general treating us as familiy - but at the same time never being imposing. I really can't praise her enough, she was kind, helpful, welcoming, warm, and nice! I would heartly recommend this apartment if you are planning on going to Siracusa, both for a short term or a long term stay. The apartment is well fit for travellers with children. I would also recommend Ortigia and Siracusa as a holiday destination, the city that is big enough to be alive and functioning beside the turist industry, but also small enough to be easy to navigate and move around in. The island of Ortigia is beautiful, charming, and full of interesting things, with a very good and active fish and produce market. From Siracusa it is possible to reach most of the rest of southern Sicily on easy daytrips.
