The House, the rooms and the shared facilities are beautiful. Throughout the house you can find lovely little details that show that the owners really care about making the guests stay as pleasant and welcoming as possible. The staff were very helpful in giving us advice on how to get around the island and let us in on their secret sightseeing tips.

No in-person staff to help when we arrived earlier before check-in time but we could call them and they were super helpful to let us drop off our luggage.

I love this place. A traditional inn which has been modernised but retains its charm. Brilliant location next to Lamp’s new restaurant, Island Brewery and the port. The owner is super friendly and helpful too (and speaks great English).

It’s an old building so if you’re a light sleeper don’t forget your ear plugs. Although I personally liked hearing the quiet buzz of the village.

The building is lovely and the staff were SUPER friendly and kind. They accommodated my request for a vegetarian breakfast and it was delicious. Such a fun stay!

While the exterior of the building is very traditional, the interior was totally renovated and very clean. At the time of my visit, there was few other guests, thus I could enjoy the very calm stay despite in a dorm room. There is a common space where you can get relaxed with chairs, tables, a fridge, and other amenity, etc. and you can communicate with other guests, chat, and even work there. There are also free laundry machines. A perfect place to stay in Katsumoto area. There is a nearby pub ("the island brewery") which I liked so much. Also the morning market (Asaichi) is in a walking distance. In short, the location is perfect. Breakfast can be added with JPY 800 extra and it was great that you can grill a fish (Aji Mackerel) by yourself. This hotel used to be a traditional one and it was closed years ago, but now renovated very cleanly. Anywhere I went in the Iki island, if I am asked where I am staying and I said Katsumoto area, all of the local asked back, "Lamp?" The hotel is that well known in the island.

At the peak season when many visitors including foreigners are back and if the dorm is packed, I am not sure how noisy it will be - maybe not that bad if the other guests are gentle enough. Showers cannot be used after 11pm to avoid the noises. Hoping it can ben used 24 hours...
