So much to tell. For a rural French gite, the house is very well outfitted. All bedding and linens are supplied, and the kitchen is fully equipped with excellent crockery and cutlery. Your host, Heather Bowman-Taylor, lives in a separate wing of the property and is very tactful about respecting your privacy. Most days we forgot she even lived there. Heather also has quite the green thumb, and I can’t stress enough how much we enjoyed taking in the distance view from the benches in the very well maintained garden, replete with fruit bearing trees. If you are so inclined, you might want to get to know Heather a bit. A philosopher friend once remarked to me, “you know, it’s the same woman who runs the B&B everywhere in the world.” Not so Heather. She is unfailingly helpful with any problems that arise during your stay and she clearly has a gene for hospitality. She is always willing to go the extra distance for her guests. Suffice it to say, I now can imagine what it must be like to have Dame Judi Dench as a landlady. In any case, we would recommend this gite without hesitation to anyone who wants a dignified and tranquil getaway, at a very fair price, in the French Pyrenees. We’ll return for sure.

When we were booking our holidays, we searched for a quiet and peaceful place, a beautiful location, not far from interesting places to visit and with motivating gastronomy. And the Gite du Paradis more than meets all these expectations. We spent two weeks there, and we would have stayed forever. The house is very well equipped and the garden is stunning and huge. There is a very special place on it to sit and read, and watch quietly how the daylight dims and the first stars show in the sky. About the sky, it is so clean and clear, that every night you could spend hours just by gazing the Milky Way. The close surroundings are beautiful. Vieuzos is located on top of a hill, with lots of nearby farms and nice woods to walk around. There is so much natural life around that the chances of spotting wild animals, such as deers or birds of prey, are very high. From Vieuzos there are many places to visit within a radius of 1h by car. A “must-see” is the beach at the Lac de la Gimone, especially when the sun is setting. The light coming from the sun is so beautiful and the place so special that makes you feel as if time had stopped. And there are also many beautiful cities with a lot history behind and good restaurants. Pau, Toulouse, Condom, and many other small villages, are obliged visits. Finally, Heather is a lovely person that cares for detail. She lives on the house next to the Gite, but she is very discreet, although she is always there if you need her. We will miss her! There is no doubt we will go back in the future.

What a wonderful well equipped, comfortable, self contained gite. It has a beautiful setting in the countryside with wonderful views. Would not hesitate in recommending the gite to anyone thinking of a holiday in this area. The owners Heather and Trevor are so hospitable and very helpful. They are there to help in anyway if you need them but respect your privacy.

The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The self-contained accommodation has a wonderful ambience, provides all that you need including being spacious, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen andin a quiet area. Spacious garden to enjoy relaxing outside in the sunshine. It was very mild in October. The location is very quiet in the middle of lovely countryside. Larger villages not far away for shopping, markets and exploring.. Good local restaurant nearby. Need your own car for exploring. Would recommend to anyone.
