House is very close to Mt Abram but we are Sunday River people. SR is 15 minutes away.
House has a fun game room, plenty of space and lots of bedrooms.

Walking distance to the Hub, 3 minutes to Mount A. An old house but with lots of comfortable rooms. We'll stay here again. Thank you John.

This was a beautiful old home. The owner has set up a game room for the retro enthusiasts, and has beautiful places to walk near the river.

Everything written in the write up to describe this ski house was accurate. Communication with our host, John was easy and prompt. Thank you!

We stayed at the property over the Presidents day weekend. The house is very large and everyone had plenty of space. We enjoyed listening to records, playing cards and cooking in the new kitchen. It’s only about 15 minutes to Sunday River. Our only regret was not staying longer! Note, that the house is rustic-if you are looking for the Marriott keep scrolling. This is a unique old home and it has some old home quirks but we loved it! Thanks for having us. See you again!

Unique gem
My husband, kids (10 and 15), in-laws and two pups LOVED our stay over the 4th of July weekend. As others have stated, the home is older, but it a quaint comfortable way. The main bathroom was recently remodeled and we had the benefit of being the first guests to use the updated kitchen!
The game room was amazing! Kids went the whole long weekend off phones and video games...by choice! They are now convinced we need a bumper pool table!
There was plenty of room for every one...and then some. The home is well stocked with everything you need to just kick back and relax.
For dog owners, the beach down the road does not allow dogs, but there is a spot right across the street where you can hop in the water, launch boats, kayaks, and paddle boards.
Would absolutely stay here again. Such a great experience!

So close to everything. Walking distance to many activities and a short drive in either direction to a variety of functions for everyone in the family to enjoy. The Gem Museum Is a must and Discovery light house boat tour in Portland is great for the entire family.

This was a a perfect place for the group. The kids had a great time exploring all the rooms and checking out the front and back stairs. The well-stocked kitchen made our meal prep a breeze. We would do this again in a minute.

Location was amazing! Close to breweries and various hiking trails. Lots to see and do for our summer vacation. The Local Hub for food and a beach on a lake nearby made this spot extra nice. Plenty of room for all of us. Also has a brand new washer and dryer which was great when traveling with 3 kids under 5.

Family vacation
Our family loved this home. The house is close to more than enough attractions in the area. Don’t miss the Local Hub less than a block away! We had a family with children between the ages of 10 down to 5 and no one was bored. The pool table, pinball and record player man cave were a hit. Host reached out when we first got there and although we had no problems, I felt he was quick to respond on check in and check out. Thanks for sharing your home because my family loved Maine!

By the end of the week we loved our stay at this house in Locke Mills. It charmed its way right into our hearts. We drove up from the Gulf Coast to explore Maine. The price point of the house in regards to its size was a huge plus. Getting there we were a little taken aback at first. It looked older than it’s pictures. Going inside, though, we quickly saw how warm and cozy the house was. We always book a house with a game room. The bumper pool and darts kept my teens (and myself) well occupied. The WiFi also kept “50 ping” on Fortnite apparently. Huge plus. The biggest challenge we had was that all of the bedrooms were upstairs, which we did not see specified when booking. We traveled with our mothers, one 70+, and they were concerned about climbing up the rather steep stairs. They persevered, however, and the comfortable beds and abundant bedrooms proved very accommodating. The house also came well stocked with all of the necessary toiletries and linens, including a brand new washer and dryer. This in itself was a huge plus for our weeklong stay. The only other issue we found was in the water pressure. It sputtered and spat it’s way out of the faucets. The host kept a water cooler with abundant jugs on site, however; so, that became only a minor inconvenience. The house is situated very close to grocery stores, shops, and restaurants in Bethel. We enjoyed the quaintness of the village. We also enjoyed exploring the area, even kayaking the Androscoggin. The house has plenty of brochures concerning things to do in the area. If you do go in the summer, be aware that a lot of the attractions close during the week. We still found lots to do, even driving into Portland and setting off to Bar Harbor. All-in-all we loved the house, would recommend it to those looking for a spacious house at a great price, and made lots of memories! 4 stars for sure.

This is a great property for groups with lots of space to spread out. The game room was a fun plus and is separate from the family room, etc. so lots of activities can be going on without interfering with each other. It has a basic kitchen but functional. Good location for skiing access.!

Good Maine getaway for a large group
This Locke Mills house is roomy and comfortable. Lots of entertainment options in the Game Room. Pet friendly to boot. Easy drive to Sunday River and reasonably close to Shawnee. Plenty of beds and plenty of places to sit both for eating and for socializing.
Other than the house being old--something that I liked, but it's a matter of taste, the only downside was the tap water is very hard. The host keeps prenty of bottles water on hand. It was fine for washing and bathing, but we stuck to the bottled water for drinking and cooking.
On the faring through unexpected events front, the area had a bad wind storm that knocked out power for a day (along with about 20,000 other houses in the area). Our host was very responsive, quickly bringing in a generator to make sure we stayed warm.
Overall, this Locke Mills house was a very good value, and we all had a good time during our vaction.

Great location, clean, comfy, but needs a bit of work
We had a great time staying here. We were a group of 8 and had plenty of room. We spent a long weekend to ski at Sunday River which is a short 10 minute drive away. However the first day was total whiteout conditions and we got soaked-and there is no dryer or fireplace here (or dishwasher but that was ok)! It was difficult to get all of our gear dried so not sure we would stay again bc of it. But if you’re not going up to ski, or it’s going to be a dry weekend, give this place a go. Lots of amazing records to play, bumper pool is also lots of fun.

it is indeed a VERY OLD house, but it has 3 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms, and specious living room, where we all could get together comfortably. So for our big group it did work. It's a short ride to Sunday River, and you can walk to Mount Abram, where we took a nice hike. There is no dishwasher, but that for our group it wasn't important (could be deal breaker for someone).

NOTHING IN THE GAME ROOM WAS WORKING, THE HOUSE IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT RUN DOWN. THEY NEED NEW FURNITURE, ITS FALLING APART. THE SECOND NIGHT WAS 30 DEGREE OUTSIDE, WE HAD NO HEAT OR HOT WATER, WE LEFT THE NEXT DAY. WE PAID FOR SEVEN DAYS , HOWEVER, IT WAS MUCH TOO COLD TO STAY. THEY OVER CHARGED US, NO GIVE BACK. BE CAREFUL BEFORE YOU BOOK.
