Very nice place to stay. Convenient to the airport and all the major attractions. Plenty of room for everyone. The house was very nicely decorated and had everything that we needed and more. The beds were comfortable. The owners were very accommodating with very good communication. We would definitely stay there again.

A wonderful property that makes you feel home. From the ocean waves, seals on the beach to the beautiful northern lights. This home is close to the airport and town. Kitchen is well stock to be able to cook all your meals. A very relaxing home!

Everything you need for your stay in this cozy, antique filled home with wonderful views all around. A short drive to the airport, Blue Lagoon and Reykjavik, this was a perfect home base for our 4 day layover in Iceland.

This home is such an ideal place to explore Iceland from. No matter how long the hiking day there's a hot tub and plenty of space for everyone. Would highly recommend. A true Iceland experience just steps fom the ocean.

We had a great stay here. The kitchen was perfect to cook in, plenty of space and everything you need. Bedrooms and beds were very comfortable, and the neighborhood so quiet and quaint. This location is close enough to the airport and also a gray middle ground for exploring the south west portion of Iceland.
We highly enjoyed the spa area (after our adventures) which is covered and has a small wood burning stove for days that are cold (we had a few rainy and windy days).
There’s also a small house with a fire pit (sweat-lodge) that we used one night - super fun to sit around, drink beer, and tell stories.
We had a great time here - the kids said it was their favorite house of all the places we stayed in Iceland.

My family of five (spouses, two teenagers, one 11 year old) stayed at Margret and Petur's house for our five day February trip.
It was a good location out in the countryside but still near the airport and a 30min drive into Reykjavik--depending on the weather of course! It was quite handy for most other sites that are in about a two-hour radius such as the Golden Circle, south coast, etc. Entered coordinates on Google maps and worked like a charm!
The house is a little out of the way but we felt it was advantageous to see the northern lights out in the country (we did). We are much more inclined to drive 30-40min into the city being from the states, so it wasn't an issue for us. Very close to the ocean so it was nice to watch the northern lights and hear the waves crash.
The house itself was VERY clean and tidy. Lots of cool antiques which made this mom of teenagers a bit nervous but we weren't home much so it wasn't an issue. Laundry, kitchen, and baths were stocked appropriately and had no issues other than having a bit of a time figuring out the microwave--no fault of the owners though.
The bedrooms were spacious and private--the doors kept a lot of noise to a minimum despite being off the TV area. I would've preferred more pillows and blankets but again, that's my preference.
We didn't use the hot tub or bbq hut. We were too tired each night!
Margret was quite responsive and answered questions in a timely and friendly manner.
Would absolutely recommend staying here!

Our stay at Margrets home was great. The house is beautiful and well maintained. Margret was gracious to allow us to arrive early and leave later. Both her and Petur were very helpful whenever we had questions or needed advice. Our thanks for a great stay.

Wonderful and scenic
If you are looking for a well equipped, clean spacious property, this is it! The bedrooms are large as is the bathroom. Kitchen is equipped with everything you will need. The ocean views are fabulous. Less than 30 minutes to Reykjavík and only about 20 minutes to Keflavík airport.

Wonderful experience
This 3 bed room house (twins in two rooms and king in the third) was the perfect size for our group of 5 women. There are two separate seating areas, and the large one has beautiful views of the open yard down to a small sandy oceanside beach with a rocky breakwall. We enjoyed this beautiful natural setting.
On clear days views of several ranges of snowy peaks from the Snaefelsness peninsula were visible in the distance. You really feel the open space that is Iceland. There is a grilling hut, picnic table and a hot tub available for use. The owners built the house 11 years ago, and they have an apartment on the property, so they are close by if you have any needs. They were very friendly, accommodating, and responsive without being at all intrusive. There are fluffy robes, lots of towels, and a full laundry (washer and dryer) available. The house itself is immaculately clean.
Since the owners live in the house in the winter, it is well stocked with supplies (detergent, coffee, tea, spices) and they offer all for your use. There is also Wifi. The location is close to the Blue Lagooon (about 20 minutes) and perfectly situated with proximity to both Reykjavik (about 25 minutes) and the international airport (about 25 minutes in the opposite direction). The newer Sky Lagoon, highly recommended, is about 15 minutes away.
We used this as a base to travel to Snaefelsness (one long day), the Golden Circle, Reykjavik, and the Westman Islands (highly recommended), as well as the south coast (to Vik). We only spent one night away from the house (overnight in Vik) when connecting our south coast tour to the Westman Islands.
We felt so fortunate to have found such a beautiful home base and we highly recommend it to others who are seeking a beautiful natural setting for their travels.

Loved watching the nesting birds even if they made it impossible to get closer to the water. Wouldn't wanted to disturb their breeding area

Wonderful property and very attentive property manager. We were able to see the northern lights from the house one clear night and despite some harsh weather at other times, the home felt very secure, warm, and spacious. The Coastal views made this home feel like destination itself. In between Reykjavik and KEF airport. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you Margret!

property and ideal base from which to explore southern Iceland, Golden Circle, Reykjavik etc. The Hot Tub and Barbecue Hut are great additions, and being in such a remote location with Dark Skies was great for viewing the Northern Lights. Host was fantastic and really felt like home from home. Would definitely use property again.

The house was lovely and in a great location. By car it was easy to get from the airport, to Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon and Golden Circle. Being remote I was hoping to see seals and the Northern Lights and we saw both. There is a bit of light pollution from the neighbours but we still managed to see the Northern Lights clearly. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of action so can't comment about that. Margret was an excellent host, dealing with any enquiries that we had before, during and after our stay. One of our party left her mobile phone(!) and Margret very kindly and promptly sent it on. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would stay again.

Margret was great with communication and her hospitality was beyond expectations. Her house, which is in Vogar, is close to the airport at Keflavik. We were permitted to check in early due to a very early arrival. She had coffee for us (delicious) and the home is extremely comfortable and welcoming with wonderful eclectic furniture and art and artifacts from around the world, comfortable beds and a hot tub (although the hot tub house needs tidying). The location is just slightly remote (it is Iceland after all, and we didn't want to be in the city) and the ocean view truly is lovely. After we had a nice nap we were personally greeted by Margaret who was charming and spent quite a bit of time with us explaining things, sharing some less travelled places to go and some of her personal history which was very interesting. Don't plan on spending too much time at the mini black sand beach out front though - the weather isn't really beach weather. For us the location was perfect - very close to the airport and grocery shopping and not too far from Reykjavik which has nice sights, history and restaurants. For us the location was more desirable for sightseeing all around Iceland than being in Reykjavik. (But do go to the city and see the old part and shop a bit. Go to Perlan - no matter what anyone says the restaurant there is a MUST.) We were so fortunate to see the Aurora Borealis while we were there - two nights in a row! Very little light pollution (except for the next door neighbor who has something like floodlights on the back porch all night). We could go on about how much we loved the place but you get the idea. If we get back to Iceland, which we hope to, we would definitely ask to stay here again.

Amazing Stay at an Amazing Location
Had a great stay here. She was very accommodating and even allowed us to check in early as well as drop off luggage. Location is great. Just far enough out of Reykjavik for peace and quiet. Close to the cute little town of Vogar that had a couple decent restaurants. I will DEFINITELY return here. Thank you so much.

Possibly the best hosts ever!
I booked last minute to come and see the northern lights and really wasn’t disappointed. Margret is a fantastic host. She helped create the best possible conditions for us by turning out all of the external lights, even asking her neighbours to do the same to help us. Snow was a little heavy leading up to the house but Margret and family were always on call if we needed any help.
House is very clean, warm, tidy and well-stocked.
Thank you Margret! Tak fyrir!

Great Stay!
I wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Reykjavik area . The house is perfect for a group of 4 or more. It's in a rural area (we saw the aurora from the house!), but close enough to easily get to Reykjavik, the airport or The Blue Lagoon by car. Communication with Margret was great. We are already considering a return trip.

We'd love to stay here again !
Our friends stayed here for two nights and we enjoyed Margret's home very much. We used this as base to explore the Golden Ring which we did in one day. Ahh, on our first day on a cold October night, we had a comfortable living room view of the Northern Lights ! Highly recommended !

Spacious home in good location.
We enjoyed our stay in this very spacious and comfortable home. It was perfect for three couples staying there. Had a large well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, a large hot tub in an enclosed greenhouse and was full of lovely antique furnishings. It was surrounded by a rugged landscape and had a view of the ocean from the living room. The location felt quite remote and a car is definitely required but it was convenient to the airport...about half way between airport and Reykjavik and close to Blue Lagoon.
There was some construction being done on an outbuilding on the property with some equipment around but this didn’t affect our stay.

Nice, clean , ocean view, quiet
Nice property near the ocean and in a quiet local action , near all day excursions around the Capital
