Lisa and Mark have done a tremendous job with the property and communication. It is clean, comfortable, and has a fantastic setup. We enjoyed the patio area during the cool nights and our pups enjoyed laying out there with no concern for getting away. The property is close to the dam and numerous hiking areas. A great location with easy access to Robbinsville.
Our pups also enjoyed the raccoon near the fire place! They greeted him every day haha!!
Thanks for a great stay

This beautiful home is accurately described. We thoroughly enjoyed the week. From the fire pit to the fire place to the jetted tub to the porch with coffee, it was exactly what we needed. The best was the quiet and the dark. There is something in listening to leaves fall that refreshes the soul.

The pics don’t do this house justice. It’s so pretty and cozy. Everything about the house just looks and feels luxurious. The owners have thought of everything that you would typically have in your own house for comfort. It was also very clean. It is pretty far from any of the towns so make sure you stock up on groceries as you will be doing lots of cooking. They have a very spacious kitchen with every gadget you can think of to make great meals. The screened in porch was my favorite spot to relax and watch the birds. It is in a little neighborhood so other houses are around, but nothing too close. Most of the trees still had their leaves as this trip was
early October, so you could not see any of the adjacent houses yet, but in the winter you would be able to see other houses. Still they are far enough away that it felt very quiet and secluded. Owners answered texts pretty much immediately every time. We had trouble getting the pilot on the fireplace so they were immediately available to walk us through that. I highly recommend this rental if you are looking for a peaceful, low key getaway in a comfortable, cozy, and luxurious feeling house.

Beautiful, well laid out cabin with geat amintys. Great location to shopping and dining.

Our pup absolutely loved the decor - the throws, the pillows, and the rugs! So much so that we had to order a faux fur rug for our babe. The raccoon confused her, but it sure did amuse us!

The pictures of the cabin don’t do it justice! The interior is very well taken care of and the location was perfect! The downstairs bed was so comfortable, the nespresso machines (with pods) were an unexpected treat, the fire pit and the back patio seating were just fabulous! Lisa and Mark were very quick to respond if any questions arose and so nice too! We hope to return with our children soon. 10 out of 10, would recommend!🙂

We wanted to get away from everything and enjoy some peace and quiet. This was the perfect place. I didn’t want to leave. Forgot how nice it is to sit outside and just hear nature. House was great. Mornings hiking, Afternoons on the porch, evenings by a fire, and nights in the hot tub. Perfect.

My wife and I spent three days at the hickory hideout and we wouldn’t change a thing. Very private just like we hoped! Great driveway with plenty of room to turn our trailer around. Prefect location for riding Tail of the Dragon and hitting up Topoco lodge!

Spent a long weekend for our anniversary. Riding our motorcycle through the mountains was beautiful! Cabin was so clean and comfortable! Reached out to owners once and they were quick to respond. This place is close enough to town, but still feels remote. Would definitely stay again!

Perfectly Tranquil Getaway
Nicely decorated and stocked with everything we needed to stay tucked away for a long weekend.
An ideal cabin with great open feel, and easily could have fit another couple comfortably if we wanted company.
Every room is complete with furnishings, decorations, and small touches that make it feel cozy and that you can settle in right away.
Quick access to the area, sights, and amenities, and finding and getting to the property were a snap.
We’d love to come back!

This cabin is very well kept and is off the beaten path. It is a little secluded which is perfect for a getaway, and it is still within easy driving distance of Robbinsville, Bryson City, and Fontana Lake. The cabin had a lot of nice, “homey” features like rugs, pillows, blankets, etc. The kitchen was also very well stocked. We would stay here again!

Amazing
This location was beautiful, the host were amazing and very responsive and considerate. My husband and I needed a getaway and that’s what we received. The location is private and peaceful and most of all no matter the weather it creates a space where couples or families can enjoy outdoor/indoor fun all in the same space. Great place to relax and have fun and highly recommended. We will definitely visit again.

Cute little A frame cabin near Fontana Dam. Decorated very nicely with some quirky touches such as the taxidermy in the living room. Great private getaway close to Bryson City and the Appalachian Trail.

christmas in the mountains
We had a great stay! The weather was great while we were there and we did several hikes in the surrounding areas. It was beautiful! The property was a nice cozy stay! We had 4 guest, and I imagine if we had any more it would be very crowded, but perfect for 4. The driveway going into the property is quite steep, so depending on the weather, 4 wheel drive would be helpful. Overall, great stay!

Beautiful and Spacious Cabin
What a beautiful cabin in the woods! My husband and I stayed alone, but we now know that we could bring friends in the future as the cabin easily sleeps 6 with plenty of privacy. The decor was warm and welcoming, with special touches (love all the blankets in the living room). We will likely visit again!

The Perfect Month
We spent a month at this lovely cabin reuniting with family and friends. It’s truly a lovely getaway and the hosts are welcoming and responsive. The location was quite central and we found we were no more than an hour from all the places we wanted to visit, and great hiking. We highly recommend this cabin for your western NC stay - short or long.

Awesome cabin tucked away in NC mountains
The Hickory Hideout was a super nice, clean, cabin tucked away in the NC mountains. It was well equipped with all the necessary items for a great weekend. The beds were very comfy, stocked kitchen, and a gas grill for cooking out. The owner was very responsive to email back with questions about this or that once we arrived. None of us did not have any cell service here so you will have to rely on wi-fi which the house does have.
The only thing that I can say is that when you arrive for the first time I would be sure and do it in the day time. I would not want to try and find this place in the dark. There are many turns to make off the main road and it is all done on a gravel, rock based road that is very narrow. The other couple and myself both had an SUV or in my case, a 1 ton dually with trailers towing sports cars. My dually barely made it down the road. It was a tight squeeze getting in and out the entire time and there were a couple places where my car bottomed out every time. Again, the house itself, the communication with the owners, etc was all great, no issues there. This place for us was just a little hard to get to, and get in and out of for what we came to NC to do.

Cozy Hideaway!
What a beautiful cabin! Lisa and Mark have done a wonderful job setting up their rental. They have thought of everything! The decor is rustic and makes you feel like you're in a mountain hideaway. The beds are comfy, kitchen is well-equipped and all necessities are available. Lisa was prompt and helpful with everything we needed. Getting from the main road to the cabin involves some steep inclines, but if you're vacationing in the mountains that should be expected. We had a wonderful week at the Hickory Hideout and would highly recommend it to anyone! Thanks Lisa and Mark!!

Perfect secluded cabin with everything needed to unplug for a while!
The pictures don’t do this cabin justice! The cabin was well maintained, very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy some days away from the city! It is secluded but not too far from grocery stores, restaurants and trail heads. We drove to Bryson City to board the Great Smokey Mountain Train, to Cherokee for local dining and Oconaluftee to see the Mountain Farm Museum. We spent days at the cabin playing board games and hanging around outside with the fire going s’mores and the grill for dinners. Our family of 5, enjoyed time doing our own individual things with plenty of space, but we’re also able to enjoy family time in the cozy living rooms and kitchen. We reached out to Lisa and Mark during our stay and they were quick to respond and very friendly! Thank y’all again for sharing your cabin with us!

Best of Both Worlds
We had a wonderful and relaxing time at Hickory Hideout! It was far enough off the beaten path to be quiet and private but close enough to find civilization when you wanted it or needed it. We hiked on parts of the Appalachian Trail most days and the various trail heads we started at were just a short drive away.
Everything you could want at the house was available. The kitchen had top of the line utensils, pot and pans and dishes etc. There was even a pie plate to use when I baked an apple pie with apples we got from a nearby farm. The knives were awesome too!
The beds and bedding were totally awesome and comfortable as well as the other furnishings. We loved all of the furry bear rugs and the rustic decor. It was very clean and the owners, Lisa and Mark, were very concerned that all of our needs and expectations were met. They were a pleasure to work with and truly cared that we had a great vacation. We stayed for 12 nights and we didn’t want to leave :( Our only disappointment was being too early for the fall color change.
We would definitely recommend Hickory Hideout for anybody looking to get away from it all to relax, explore nature and the Smoky mountains and yet be close enough to some towns for activities as well.
Thank you Lisa and Mark for sharing your wonderful home away from home!

Beautiful cabin in a great location for all kinds of activities, or just peace and quiet.
Our family had the honor of being the first guests at this wonderful cabin, so...here is the first review for the cabin and first review that I have written. I hope I can give future guests an idea of what it is like to stay here.
We made a last minute decision to head to the mountains for some adventure and to escape the summer heat. Even with less than 48 hours notice, the cabin was clean (immaculate) and ready for our arrival. The owners were a pleasure to work with, checking in on us upon arrival to make sure everything was great and answering our questions promptly. The kitchen is well stocked and the towels and bed linens are as nice as many of the fine hotels we have stayed at. I also really appreciated having 2 1/2 baths, which is something I did not see with many of the other cabins this size in the area. The cabin is comfortable and nicely decorated while still giving you the “real cabin” feeling. With all of the large windows on the upper level and the upstairs deck, my kids said they felt like they were living in a tree house.
For us, the location of this cabin was perfect and the drive in was easy (and mostly paved). While nothing is at the end of the drive way, so to speak, the location is conveniently centralized to a lot areas and activities. We were able to do many scenic drives (the area has no shortage sporty roads with amazing views), whitewater rafting, boating in Lake Fontana, tubing in Bryson City, fly fishing and hiking...all within about a 30-40 minute drive. As a family that doesn’t like to sit still and wants to see “everything’’ the area has to offer, the convenience of this location was huge. We have stayed in cabins that take 30 minutes of gravel roads just to get to some pavement while I drive with sweaty palms and wishing I had 4 wheel drive! This place was secluded enough for peace and quiet without feeling remote. As the owners mention in their description, there is no cellular phone service at this cabin. Phone service was available via the WiFi. Verizon seems to be the best carrier in the area, but coverage is spotty. Many of us head to the woods to get away, but if you rely on cellular, to check email for work, etc., be advised that you may have to get creative when you leave the cabin’s WiFi.
5 stars, 2 thumbs up, we had a great time and would definitely stay again.

The best cabin in Robbinsville!
The cabin was even better than the pictures made it look! We highly recommend this property to anyone, couples, families, etc. The owners, Lisa and Mark are great hosts and incredibly prompt with responses. One of the best parts was the advanced technology in the cabin. It has a rustic feel, but still the stuff you expect at home: fast wifi, new TVs, music, new appliances and so on. We will definitely return.
