Sofitel Beijing Central

We truly enjoyed our recent stay here and would like to give special thanks to Golden from the Guest Service Centre. We reached out in advance with a special early check-in request, as my wife was unwell and we arrived very early from the airport. Golden listened carefully to our situation, was incredibly patient, considerate and helpful throughout the whole communication. Although early check-in could not be guaranteed, Golden clearly explained the hotel policy, took down our request and kept us posted once the room was ready.

Although my experience in China wasn't perfect (it was mainly my fault), this hotel compensated for it. The room was really nice and comfortable, the spa was really nice (although probably not what you'd get in a 5☆ hotel in Western Europe) and staff were 10/10. Despite most of them struggling with English, they tried their best to help you. Special shoutout to Kendi on the breakfast counter. She was probably the friendliest out of them all!

Nothing. But if I HAD to pick a fault, i'd say not having a main light in the room and the hotel being a ~30 minute walk away from Tiananmen Square/Forbidden City despite being a 'central hotel' were the only 'problems'

Location, views, breakfast and the beautiful library. Most of the staff were friendly and approachable. Once my room issue was resolved, I enjoyed my stay!

The restaurant discount they say you'll get, you never get!! It's for certain restaurant at certain times...never!! On checking in I was told I had to pay deposit on checking out I tried to ask if I was due any money back...but the communication was bad, I just gave up in the end. So upto now I do not know if I was charged deposit and how much! I was initially put in a dilapidated room. Furniture is old and not fit for purpose. When I went to staff initially I was told there was no other room similar to the one I booked. Only room available was on 4th floor. I declined because the views were important to me. Then surprise surprise there was a room on 18th floor. The lady in charge on that night then begged me not to mention the incident. Offered me 100RMB discount and free breakfast. I declined because I was not after money. Then she offered me voucher for restaurant discount 100RMB off after spending 500RMB in a single seating!! I told her no thank you. I would never eat a meal for 500RMB solo! Then she sent another member of staff who offered free meal at one of the restaurants, in the end I just said yes for peace.

Like the room size but everything in the old are old and worn out.

Nothing, the entire interior is dark and gloomy.
