Exclusive villa opposite Akureyri
About this villa rental
Situated in Northeastern Region, this attractive villa for $665 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This exclusive villa is very well situated just opposite Akureyri. It is rented by celebrities but also by other people who enjoy the location and the high standard of the house. It was built by the Icelandic architect Fanney Hauksdottir in 2006. It was recently refurbished with high-quality equipment such as ReVoX audio equipment as well as with attractive materials such as walnut, shale and glass. The house is surrounded by a 16'000 m2 garden and a security fence. An alarm system and cameras ensure safety for the guests. Any kind of additional service is available on request. During winter snow drifts may block road access to the house. The road to our fence and the driveway is not maintained during winter time. In this case a short walk (400 meters) is necessary. If you have difficulties with this, have a look at our house Leifsstadir: http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p2365219. Please note that this is a strictly non-smoking environment. This modern villa had amazing views both inside and out. Absolutely adored the architecture and design of the entire place as well as the proximity to Akureryi. I would recommend this place for anyone traveling who likes a larger home base or anyone who appreciates modern architecture and design.

The title says it all. Akureyri is a lovely town nestled in the mountains and the view from this house across the fjord is truely amazing. The location is perfect as youre not too far from the town where there is a great selection of restaurants, and you are centrally located to easily access the great North Iceland. Already looking to book a rdturn trip.

Very nice house. Could heat it up more. And would have been good to have gas for the grill.

It was a great home base for day trips. The house delivered in every way. Hot tub and sauna are a nice perk. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Tremendous views!

Our family spent 2 nights in this beautiful home. From the moment we stepped through the door we knew we were in for a treat. The panoramic views throughout the house of Autumn foliage and mountains was spectacular!! The home was elegant and comfortable. We look forward to returning and staying longer.

Property was beautiful, very high end and excellent location away from town, but close enough to pop over if needed.

From the moment we saw the property online...we knew we had to book our stay! When we arrived at the home - we could not have been happier with the views from the property and especially the views from with in the house. It met all of our expectations. The house was warm with open views, and super clean. We can't say "thank you" enough to Thomas and Annett for allowing us to stay at their beautiful home. This is a must stay if you are visiting Akureyri Iceland!!!

This is a perfect spot as a home base! The house is gorgeous and the views are amazing; especially from the hot tub. Kitchen is also well-stocked even though we only cooked breakfast. If you’re looking for a place in Akureyri, stop looking and book this house!!

The beautiful house has a wonderful hot tub, views are great (Northern lights were incredible), steam room was wonderfully relaxing and a special treat and access to Akureyri was incredibly easy.

We really enjoyed the modern rooms with the views and the Revox sound system. It is a luxurious and spacious villa with large glass fronts from living room, bedroom and even bathroom. Large property and very calm. Just one hour drive away from the wonderful Myvatn area, and 30 minutes from Godarfoss.

The only way to describe this property is as a Show House, but on this visit we found it unkempt and in disrepair.
Just on first presentation, we arrived to an overgrown yard with weeds everywhere, algae in the water features, pool cover and barbecue cover torn and the barbecue was covered in old food. Those are cosmetic, but made a first impression on our guests.
The more serious issues were functional. One of the bathrooms had a toilet that did not flush. We had to use a bucket to flush it, which didn't always work. And a window latch was broken so it couldn't be closed. We notified the owner and someone came for the window latch. But a plumber never arrived and the toilet had to be flushed with a bucket for the remaining week of the trip.
From a comfort standpoint there were issues too. The office bedroom bed was so uncomfortable our guests started sleeping on the floor and the showers downstairs only provided lukewarm water.
The property and location are beautiful. But for a property at this level you expect the upkeep and maintenance to match. This time, it pains us to say, that was not the case.

This is a beautifull house with huge wow factor. This is our 2nd time and still get a thrill pulling up to the house. I cannot recommend highly enough

An amazing property with the best view of Akureyi. The host/care taker we’re easy way to contact if we had any questions. The house was one of the best we have ever stayed in.

The title says it all. Beautiful home, fully appointed for a group of 4 (2 couples). Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the stunning views of the fjord and of Akureyri. Perfect jumping off point to explore north Iceland.

This was our third visit to Hrafnabjörg, which kinda speaks for itself. The property is stunning, with gorgeous views of the Eyjafjörður and surrounding glacial hills and valleys. The geothermal hot tub is a great way to recharge after a long day of exploring the area.
Speaking of which, Akureyri is an excellent base for visiting nearby Husavik, Godafoss, Mývatn and other local attractions.
Local restaurants are fantastic, showcasing fresh, Icelandic ingredients. Whale watching is excellent right in Eyjafjörður as well.
Thomas is a gracious and responsive host.
Cheers!

Quite simply a spectacular home in a spectacular location. The on-line pictures, despite being beautiful, actually do not do justice to the property or the 270 degree view from the living room. Amenities are high end and easy to use including the hot tub and steam room. The location is ideal for day trips to explore the highlights of northern Iceland.

This house is out of this world and all the windows capture a 360 view of akureyri / mountain range behind. This place is something I will never forget and if you are second guessing…. Just book it. Enjoyed listening to the owners music playlist on their unique speaker system while drinking my morning coffee. Cheers!

This house was so incredible! It was like staying at Spa. The amenities were outstanding - The outdoor infinity hot tub and the inside steam room were well used and extremely enjoyed, as was the deep bathtub. Every view from the house was breath-taking. We truly enjoyed our stay and I highly recommend it to anyone!

Highly recommend this property. The views are spectacular. It is very much an architectural digest type of home. It’s also very central-Akureyri is not that big of a city but it’s still just a short drive to everything. You can see the ski slopes from the master bedroom.

The whole house, its facilities and how it is situated to maximise the panoramic views over a sublime landscapes, make this one of the top stays we’ve ever experienced. Thank you so much to the owner for making the property available for others to experience and enjoy.

Excellent location and beautiful property. We were impressed by the view and all of the amenities. Elegant and private. A great place to end our day after a long day of adventure.

House and views as nice as you see in the picture. The house is only a short driving distance to town with very good dining options. When snowing was quite challenging to get to house via road and driveway so you’d need a car with very good tires or you have the option to pay contractor to remove snow.

We had four wonderful days in this house close to Akureyri. The spa and the hot tub was great after days skiing. The furniture in the livingroom
might need a pop-up. The bedrooms and beds were great.

My wife and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Hrafnabjorg... unquestionably the best rental home we have ever stayed in. This is a truly unique property and a very well known architectural marvel, and we loved exploring, appreciating, and utilizing all that this home has to offer. As an old school audiophile I particularly loved the audio system, including the wonderful vintage Revox Symbol B speakers paired to a modern Bluesound streaming integrated amplifier, to enjoy some serious music listening during our down time! If you are looking for the perfect home base for exploring North Iceland with amazing views, great features, and a warm and relaxing atmosphere, this is the place for you!

Would recommend staying here. The house is clean and we were very comfortable. There is a noticeable mildewy smell to the house when you first walk in but we did not find it bothersome. The views are spectacular, they made the house for me. Seeing the Northern Lights over the city was breathtaking. Short drive to Akureyri. The unplowed part of the road was a bit tricky to get out of after getting 6 inches of snow, but we managed with an AWD SUV.

It was lovely, and would definitely stay there again! We would also recommend it to friends!
