Beautiful Detached Finca with Large Private Swimming Pool
About this house rental
Can Mayol is a traditionally built and beautifully furnished two bedroom (plus loft bedroom suite) Finca set amongst a pretty garden of citrus fruits, palms, olives and vines. Beautifully sited in the peaceful hillside of the village, yet only a 2/3 minute walk down to the plaza for a hive of activity when you want it with its church, bars, restaurants, shops, bakery and supermarket. It has amazing views across the Valley and Tramuntana Mountains, waking you only to the sound of the neighbouring wildlife. The Finca enjoys a large private and secluded saltwater swimming pool with plenty of sun plus a shaded area with loungers and cushions under the advocado trees. The internal layout is spacious and bright, tastefully decorated with beautiful & colourful artwork and exposed beams. The Finca has well proportioned rooms and excellent living space. The kitchen is very well stocked for the most simplest or exquisite cooking and entertaining, with a fabulous under canopy terrace just outside the large folding kitchen window. Alternatively the BBQ can be fired up for the local fresh fish and meat from the market in Soller. Terrace sofas and chairs allow guests to spill out from the lounge on the higher level for views across the gardens and farmland. Sofa seating under a pergola on the top garden terrace lends itself to evening drinks with the most breathtaking views across the valley equipped with its very own bar! This is a fantastic area for walking or just relaxing whilst enjoying the marvellous views and local hospitality. The two beaches at Port de Soller are a 6-10 minute drive. Both the Port and the Town of Soller offer more restaurants and bars, shopping and activities.

We stayed in June 23. The house is lovely and the location is great
We had what’s app communication with Verónica prior to arrival who gave us clear instructions on how to get to the property which was much appreciated as we were due to arrive at the house about 1030 pm so knew we would be trying to find it in the dark.
As it was our flight was delayed and we arrived at nearly 0300. Rather disappointed to find no arrival pack in the house.
Having carted 60kg of luggage up the hill we only had 1 x 500ml bottle of water for the 4 of us until the morning.
A bottle of water and a loaf of bread would have been greatly appreciated on arrival until we could get to the shops (and previous reviews had said such items had been left)
When we arrived the house was very hot and there were big signs up saying not to use the air con without permission, which we couldn’t do at 0300 so our first night was very hot and thirsty.
Likewise the gas hob ran on bottled gas and was almost empty the 1st time we tried to use it. Veronica replied quickly and suggested the trick of tipping the gas bottle on its side to get the last of the gas which was enough to cook our dinner and the gentleman dropped off a new bottle later that night (although left us to install it ourselves despite the house instruction manual telling us we must not do that). The gas bottle should have been checked prior to our arrival.
A little more attention to small details would have made it perfect.

Fornalutx is a fantastic location, pretty village with lots of restaurants a local shop and bakery.
Ca'n Maylor is a lovely property with great outdoor spacesl, the pool and lounge area by the pool was great, and the terrace good for a late night drink and games of cards. The bedroom layout is a bit odd as the 2 double rooms are basically in the same room, so they are not very private from each other. My husband and I ended up in the twin room which is not a great room and not really what we expected on our holiday. This should be made clearer in the details. The bathrooms could do with an update, too.
Otherwise a lovely house with everthing you need. The house manager was really helpful with directions and letting us drop our bags early.

An excellent, large finca that is ideal for a family, with 3 bedrooms, though one is accessed via another. The property is in a good condition, but it was a little tired in terms of paintwork at the end of the season. It was slightly disappointing to arrive and not be met by the agent (though we were very, very grateful for the early arrival and late check out time). We didn't realise we would be given all directions via WhatsApp (we had data roaming off!) and so didn't look to the app for directions etc (which actually were very good indeed). But with a little detective work we found it and the keys. Because of the weather on arrival (and perhaps because there had been no one in the week before?) the Finca felt a little dark, forlorn and unloved when we arrive as it was all shuttered up and there were piles of cushions from the various outside seating areas stacked up in the house. But just by opening the shutters (of which there are many!) and moving all the cushions outside, we soon felt at home and the sun shone. This is a large property and the grounds quite extensive with various terraces which we enjoyed , not least the salt water swimming pool (don't be fooled by the patina), at least twice a day. Be aware, that if staying in the village the hours of direct sunlight are inevitably limited at this time of year, due to the mountains. So the first week in October and the sun hit the pool at 10am and was gone by 6pm. Not an issue for us, but some may lament not waking up to sunshine or miss a late setting sun in the evening . The house is excellent and well provided for. It's location is approx 40m above the main car park (not an issue) up a small flight of cobbled path (beware again if hiring bicycles , and again it is possible, but it's a steep climb first to the top of the car park, then secondly a push up the cobbled path note: bike hire in Port de Soller recommended). You will soon adapt and the short walk to the bakery makes it all very worthwhile. A great base for exploring the area, with a bus into the port and countless walks, and hills for cycling.

Please believe all the reviews because this could not be a more perfect place to stay and with bars, restaurants and a shop just a short walk away, it was for us ideal. However when our son had a freak accident and ended up in hospital for a week, it just made having our holiday cut short even more cruel (the offers of help when we needed it from the hosts was certainly appreciated). We'll just have to come back and enjoy a full week another time if we can.

We had a wonderful 5 night stay and it was honestly idyllic. A beautiful location with breathtaking views. You do need to be reasonably fit to get to the little village as it’s accessed by 113 cobbled steps. The owner was really helpful and friendly. The finca felt like a real home with a stunning kitchen and big outside table.
The only very slight overview on our part was that we had to vacate at 10am which was an hour earlier than we planned. However it was probably a good thing as we had a full day exploring before heading back to the airport late.
An honestly wonderful holiday - thank you!

Wunderbare Finca in toller Hanglage in sehr schönem Ort

A wonderful house in a great location
We have had a wonderful holiday. Everything was perfekt. The house is fantatically located , quietly, with views of the mountain, and at the same time right in Fornalutx. The house is amazing and we immediately felt at home.
We would love to come back again.

Fantastique!

Lovely ,traditional and spacious villa in a beautiful village. A great place to relax, explore the mountainous local terrain and the wonderful food and hospitality 5 minutes down the hill in the village square.

Wot can I say, The Villa is in a stunning and amazing views, amazing scenery to wake up to every morning.
We love just chilling out by the pool, very relaxing.
We loved the and nearby works to Soller, however, I would suggest to early as the mid-day sun can be brutal in the mountains.
I hired an E bike for the day, I would suggest Tramuntana Tours very good bikes. The trip to the from Soller to Gorg Blau was amazing about 45KM, however no issue with the E bike!
Fantastic location for the short walk to village and we got use to the steps!! Great restaurants , our favourites were Molon and Café Med
Please feed the Cat! My wife was overjoyed when she adopted the cat for the week and was able to feed her every day.
We had a fantastic time and would certainly recommend the villa and Town of Fornalux

A lovely finca in a great location.
Really enjoyed our stay here- well equipped place, lots of outdoor space and a great pool. Visiting cats a highlight, as well as proximity to the village and its cafes and shops. Tris and Veronica were very accommodating and responsive. Recommended highly.

Beautiful location
A beautiful property with incredible views - the kids loved watching the lights in the village and surrounding mountains come on at night. Loved the village and walking down the steps for a drink in the square at dusk. Take your time walking up to the property as the heat really got to us! Very clean and loads of equipment. Would definitely visit again!

Fabulous Stay!
Beautiful house in a beautiful location. We absolutely loved the salt water pool. The views from the house and pool are stunning. Very well appointed house. Great advice and tips on where to go.
Lots of steps up to the house so not for the unfit when carrying heavy luggage and shopping up! Absolutely worth it though for the spectacular views that you are rewarded with! Would definitely stay again.
Thanks Tris - we watered your herbs!

Fantastic location with beautiful views
This feedback is based on my daughters impression of the villa and surroundings and my view of the communication with Tris the property owner and Veronica the manager as unfortunately our family circumstances changed just prior to departure and my wife, my elder daughter and I were unable to travel. The communication with Tris and latterly with Veronica was faultless, both were extremely helpful and Tris had some helpful suggestions for walks and local restaurants which my daughter said were spot on. I am told that the pool was great and the villa was perfectly suited for a family holiday accessibly situated close to the village up series of easily walked steps.
We would love to go back as a family in the future, five stars from my daughter for the villa and from me for the communication before and during the holiday.

Beautiful house and surroundings!
We had a great time in this beautiful house in Fornalutx! We stayed for a week at the end of July. It was hot but the house is well equipped with air condition so the heat was never a problem. The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. The pool is situated a bit further up the hill (the garden is terraced) and has a wonderful view over the valley. We very much recommend this house and we love the village and the surroundings.

Style and comfort in Fornalutx
A grand, well-established hillside location at the top of the village with great views across and up the valley. Everything was clean, comfortable and trouble free and the house and grounds were a pleasure to spend lazy days in.
The village is just about perfect with enough facilities and restaurants to keep you comfortably rooted . We found a good trail from the village down to Soller which meant a 30-40 minute walk through the olive and citrus groves to the centre of town with its market and interesting shops..
For other excursions (great mountain hiking trails all around this area) our hire cars were close by in the free village car park where we had no problem finding spaces at any time.
Very enjoyable all round.

Wonderful Finca above beautiful Fornalutx
We stayed with group of five in this beautifully located and very nicely setup finca over new years eve. The location is great, just above the village, where you can reach several nice restaurants (our pick is definitely Cafe Med), a small supermarket, bank etc in just 5 min walk down the hill. The views from the terrace are breathtaking, you have the highest peak of Mallorca right in front of you. In wintertime the terrace gets sun from around 10am to 1 pm, the large terraced garden much longer. The house is individually and very nicely furnished and decorated and has a great kitchen with all necessary tools, so doing our new years eve festive dinner was no problem at all.
Two things that are important (and mentioned in the description): You can't access the house directly by car, it is about 50m above the car park and you have to walk up some stairs. Also, the house has no central heating, but two fireplaces, which you'll have to operate when you want the house warm during the colder months.
Tris was a great host, with easy and quick communication. Things we needed got organised quite quickly. Thanks again for that beautiful stay.

A stunning house, a stunning spot with views to die for!
This really is a great house in a glorious location. The views are to die for and the garden with the many fruit trees and pool are fantastic. The house itself is very well equipped, and has everything you need. We've had a wonderful stay and will likely look to return in the future. Fornalutx is such a pretty village, and the great thing about it is, you're only 10 minutes from the beach. I'd recommend a car when staying here, and there's a free car park beneath the house. There are quite a few steps up to the house, but to be honest not a problem if you are fit an able. All in all, a wonderful home in one of Mallorcas prettiest villages. 5 stars from us!! Nicola, Marc, Max & Fin

Lovely home in spectacular location
We spent a wonderful week in Can Mayol a comfortable authentic Mallorcan house perched high above the village of Fornalutx yet minutes walk to the village square and all the bars and restaurants. It was great having 2 spacious bathrooms plus an outside lavatory for use when at the pool or at the pretty outside dining area . Views from the pool are stunning as well as from the house and the dining terrace . We opened the back door early one morning to a group of peacocks and peahens. The pool is surrounded by nature and is so peaceful interrupted only by the sounds of sheep goats and a donkey close by . The owners were so helpful we asked for extra pillows one day and by the afternoon they had been delivered to the house . The house is well stocked with cleaning and washing up materials and some food wine and water awaited our arrival on a Sunday afternoon when the village shop was closed . The house and pool are very clean and well maintained. We went to almost every restaurant in the village and liked the pizzeria Calzone and the place directly opposite as well as the first restaurant slightly further up the hill called Es Tuna I think . Supermarket and bakery stock most of what you will need . Breakfast is not big in the cafes but it is possible to buy delicious pastries from the bakery and eat them with an orange juice and coffee from the bars in the square .
Worth visiting Son Bleda on the route from Soller to Deià for lunch - amazing salads and Can Pintxos in Soller for tapas.
Easy to visit Soller for a bit more bustle as well as Port de Soller . Palma also an easy drive of around 30-40 minutes or train or bus from Palma . Highly recommended but not easily accessible for anyone with mobility issues .

Peacefull and full of traditional charm!
We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful stone house.
Not only is it decorated with a lot of taste but the house is completely private and quiet.
The pool was very enjoyable.
The house is very well equiped.
The village of Fornalutx is a real jewel with all the little paved streets.
What a fantastic place!
We will definitely renew the experience.

Beautiful location!
We had a lovely relaxing week. The village is stunning and has all you need in terms of shops and restaurants.
The house is very well equipped, but does not have air conditioning. The pool is great with stunning views, (I would recommend taking something like wet suit socks to wear in the pool as the floor is rough and took the skin off the kids hands and feet. They did spend most of the holiday in the pool though so this could be a factor.)
Overall we would highly recommend the property, we loved it and hope to return soon, it suited us perfectly.
