Now, more than 100 years later, it is a beautiful little hacienda, complete with a casita at the rear of the property that can accommodate additional guests. Located at the foot of Big Bend National Park and just a few blocks from the world-famous Gage Hotel, this property is a stunner. With custom woodwork throughout, this delicately-appointed 950-square-foot home sits on a corner lot and offers a beautiful enclosed private patio/courtyard for privacy. Surrounded by pretty, native desert vegetation, the custom features of this home are far too numerous to mention. The casitas were separated but comfortable. Main casita with kitchen and Living area was very comfortable. Had a kiva fireplace, which we didn’t use. Fireplace on outside in compound, which we didn’t use, either, but very nice touch. Not much wood, but not why we didn’t build a fire. Suggested a couple of things to the owner and he was very receptive. Would definitely stay again.

Property was great, our only issue were the barstools were very uncomfortable & that was the only place to sit to eat &/or play boardgames.

Great location, easy walk to the Marathon amenities and a good drive to Panther Junction. It was a little chilly on arrival but the heaters got it toasty in no time. Fireplace in the courtyard was popular. Kitchen worked out fine for 2 nights/dinner during our stay.

Magical home with beautiful courtyard and really two houses in one. Perfect spot to head out to Big Bend or Davis Mountains. Serene setting that will wipe away the city the minute you arrive.

We came to photograph the Milky Way and visit Big Bend. The property was perfectly laid out and we love to cook so the kitchen was perfect. No complaints!

We loved our stay La Casa Vieja!
It was the perfect setup for my husband and I and adult daughter with the separate casita. We spent a lot of afternoons in the courtyard. Loved the decor. Host Spencer was very responsive when we had questions. We’ll be back! Great stay!

The best part of the property is the charming courtyard. It was private and airy and very large. The property is clean and welcoming. The tile in the main house is gorgeous, as well as, the bathroom sink. The casita also has an updated bathroom, small fridge, microwave and TV. The mainhouse has a full kitchen and gorgeous wood bar for seating to eat. This property is a must if you are visiting Big Bend and the surrounding area.

After a day hiking in the Big Bend, it was great to come back to our charming adobe and relax in the courtyard. We enjoyed the peaceful setting.

This property is very nice! Enclosed courtyard and casita along with a fireplace outside and inside. The main house has a comfy bed and everything you need for cooking. The owner was very responsive when contacted. We had some trash left by the cleaning crew, but they came over the first day and picked it up and she was very nice. If you’re bringing a dog, beware of the burrs! There really is nowhere in Marsthon you can avoid them and they will stick to little paws. Bring some booties! We will definitely return to this place next time we swing through!

While visiting our son in El Paso for Christmas, we wanted to get to Big Bend NP for a couple of days to enjoy the park during cooler periods. La Casa Vieja was the perfect place to stay. The property was as advertised and the courtyard with fireplace was incredible. Spencer was easy to reach, though we did not have any issues. Marathon too was a great town. Highly recommend attending one of the star parties at the motel west of town. If we come back this way, we will definitely rebook with Spencer.

My mom, husband and I stayed here over thanksgiving weekend for a family reunion. We loved that there were two houses, the main house and the casita. My mom stayed in the casita while my husband and I stayed in the main house. both beds were very comfortable and the place was clean and cozy. A very unique place to stay in town and just one street over from my great aunts house. We will definitely be staying here again.

The property had everything we needed for our stay near the Big Bend area. We’d get up early and make the drive into BBNP, 70 miles + depending on what area we were hiking. In Marathon we ate at the Gage Restaurant, Brick Vault, V60 and White Buffalo. All very good. Can’t wait to go back

Misrepresentation from pictures, 2nd bedroom not attached to the home. Problems with the air cooler, infested with ants and uneven floor in the main room. Pots and pans old and rusty.

Nice property. The only shortcoming we experienced was there were only 2 chairs for the patio table and there were 4 of us staying there.

Beautiful Place
My family and I took a short summer vacay and enjoyed our stay La Casa Vieja in Marathon. The home was gorgeous. My husband and stayed in the main house and my boys stay in the casita. They enjoyed staying by themselves. I highly recommend you stay regardless of the season.

We spent 4 days and nights of great family time, exploring Big Bend National Park. This beautiful home and location was a great place to relax and regroup in between excursions. We enjoyed the private enclosed courtyard and the separate Casita, which allowed comfort, privacy and a place for all of us and their dog to relax, without worry of their dog wandering off. The French Grocer was a nice place to get some supplies and we enjoyed their Friday night burger night! An overall great experience!
