About this house rental

This beautiful 5-bedroom lodge, erected in 1918 as the infirmary of a boy’s summer camp, has been completely refurbished but still reflects the historical aspects of the original camp. The large modern kitchen is fitted with new appliances, quartz countertops and is well lit for the culinary experts in your group. Year-round comfort is guaranteed with a geothermal cooling/heating system, heated bathroom floors, and a whole-house generator. Located in the Adirondack Mountains and the pristine area known as the Adirondack Park, the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, the lodge provides direct access via motorboat (or canoe/kayak) to Upper Saranac Lake. This is one of the largest lakes in the Adirondacks with a rich history of the Great Camps that at one time characterized the summer homes of the wealthy. One can even attend church or get married on “Chapel Island”. The lake offers numerous bays and inlets ideal for swimming, fishing or enjoying a sunset dinner on your boat, or an island. The lake is stocked with several species of trout, including lake trout. Bass, pike and perch also make the lake their home. For those who prefer the serenity of the paddle to the motor, a left turn from our dock on Fish Creek Pond and a short paddle to Spider Creek provides the entrance to Follensby Clear Pond with primitive campsites on shore and on its islands. Easy carries provide access to Polliwog and Horseshoe Pond, as well as other ponds. Just a few miles from the lodge you can enter the 18, 400 acre “St. Regis Canoe Area”, New York’s designated canoe area, with its many lakes, ponds, streams and mountain views. This area is unique in that several loop trips are possible. The spacious dock will accommodate 3 motorboats or as many canoes and kayaks. The rental includes 2 aluminum canoes, a single and double kayak and a 12 ft. rowboat. The lodge is adjacent to a marina with a large supply of canoes, kayaks and small motorboats. The lake bottom around the dock is sandy and suitable for swimming. However, a public beach area is available in the state park within walking distance. For landlubbers, Route 30, a few hundred yards from the lodge, is a designated bike route. The area has hundreds of hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty. Fish Creek Pond State Campground, walking distance from the lodge, provides a five-mile loop for the casual bike riders and avid walkers with a flat, safe area to test their pedometers. In winter the campground serves as a snowmobile rally area and the loop provides an excellent area for cross-country skiing. Other winter sports include downhill skiing at Whiteface Mountain, Titus Mountain, Big Tupper Ski Area and Mt. Pisgah, and as well as snowshoeing and ice fishing. The “Saranac Sixers” is a group of mountains close to the Village of Saranac Lake. Successful assent means you get to ring the designated bell in the village square and have you name listed with your fellow climbers. But the avid hiker who wants a greater challenge in the Adirondack High Peaks should consider the 29er Challenge or the Adirondack Forty-Sixers. Pertinent information can be obtained on their websites. The lodge is located equal distance from Tupper Lake, home of the very popular “Wild Center” and Saranac Lake with its rich history and its famous “Winter Carnival” which started in 1897. The 10-day event includes fireworks, parades, games, exhibits, concerts and more. But the highlight is the beautiful “Ice Palace” which is built each year from lake ice. The palace serves as the coronation area for those chosen each year as the King and Queen. It is spectacular at night with its stunning light affects. Only 8 miles from Saranac Lake is Lake Placid with its many shops and restaurants. It is interesting to visit the Olympic Center and venues from the 1980 Olympics. This is where the “Miracle on Ice” occurred.

This is a beautiful home that provides everything you could possibly need. The history of the home, along with pictures throughout the house, was wonderful. There was plenty of room to gather as a group with the open kitchen/living room/dining room concept and plenty of places when privacy was desired. The personal touches provided by the owners throughout the house were awesome. We never ran out of the essentials. The location is on a large pond that provided access to creeks and several additional ponds so you could do an 8-mile kayak/canoe trip, if desired (worth it). The only downside was it was over 45 minutes to hike a 46 er and approximately 40 minutes to Lake Placid. Both are not showstoppers; you just need to plan accordingly. The owners were very courteous and made sure everyone arrived safely and were prepared prior to arrival. If you are considering this house for your vacation, I feel you will enjoy the house and everything it offers. I would love to visit in the summer so I can enjoy swimming and fishing. October was not a good month for those two activities! 😊

The set up is perfect. Kitchen has everything. Entertainment center is nice with two large TVs up and down stairs, Pool table, and plenty of board games. Screened in porch, which I always sit in, is the best. Made a fire a few of the nights in the fire pit. Secluded but not too far from Saranac and Tupper Lake. Did some boating, it is perfect. You guys are great. Has everything we needed.

Our family’s stay at the lodge was the best we’ve ever had out of many trips to the ADK. Chuck and Joan have done a phenomenal job renovating and maintaining this gorgeous property, the listing pictures do not do it justice. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is top notch and they keep it cleaner than any hotel you’ll find in the region. The lodge has everything you could possibly need, just bring your food and clothes. We brought our own boat, launched at Fish Creek Pond Campground, and kept it at right at the dock all week for fishing and tubing. The location is perfect, being close to Tupper Lake, Saranac, Lake Placid and endless hiking trails and mountains. The booking, check-in, and check-out process is as simple and smooth as it gets, and Chuck is so hospitable and helpful with his communication. If you are looking for a family friendly place and are lucky enough to see an opening on the availability calendar, don’t wait, book today!

Everything was PERFECT! Location - right on the water in between Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, lots of hikes, views, grocery store, restaurants. Lodge - amazing, well decorated, enjoyed the many historical photos, had every amenity needed, kids loved pool table, foosball, and collection of board games on rainy day. Large screened back deck was enjoyed for the views, morning coffee, meals, games, and conversations. Kayaks, canoes, docks, grassy area, and fire pit were all wonderful. Hosts are thoughtful and communicated appropriately.

We enjoyed our 2021 stay at LaJeunesse Lodge so much we went back in 2022. The home has been beautifully renovated, the accommodations are complete and comfortable, and the owners are a pleasure to communicate with. Our visits have been in winter and there is plenty to see and do in the area, but we would love to return in the summer as well. LaJeunesse Lodge makes a great destination for family and friends.
