Whitecaps Retreat Beach House
About this house rental
Whitecaps Retreat is a vacation home that offers peaceful seclusion with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. This hidden gem is nestled within a mature hardwood forest which was once cultivated as farmland. Walking the property you will see historical remnants of stonewalls and deer grazing in the old apple orchard overlooking Creaser’s Cove. The landscape, seascape and wildlife offer an exquisite sensory experience; a perfect spot if you are looking to get away from it all. Cherish the stillness while sipping your morning coffee. Take in the majestic scenery where the Atlantic Ocean meets the LaHave River. Savour spectacular sunsets over the LaHave Islands from the south-west facing patio. Curl up with a good book or plug in your favourite playlist; enjoy your vacation! Whitecaps Retreat is located 350 ft from each of its sister cottages, Whitecaps Summit and Whitecaps Cabana - far enough to have privacy, but close enough for three groups wanting to rent 3 cottages. Whitecaps Retreat is a vacation home that offers peaceful seclusion with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The landscape, seascape and wildlife offer an exquisite sensory experience; a perfect spot if you are looking to get away from it all. The home is custom built, designed specifically for vacation getaways (please see the floor plan for further details). The décor has a mix of modern and traditional rustic appeal. It is meant to be a vacation home you can share with family and friends or a retreat for renewing and restoring energy. Whitecaps Retreat is on the Kraut Point peninsula stretching from Creaser’s Cove on the east to the sandy beach at low tide on the west. From the crest in the middle of the property is Whitecaps Summit with panoramic views of the water on 3 sides. The east side (Creaser’s Cove side) of Whitecaps is the best location for launching kayaks, paddle boards, and other small water crafts while the west side is perfect for beachcombing, walks, and swimming. Whitecaps Cabana is located on the Creaser's Cove side. All 3 cottages share the shoreline on both sides of the peninsula and share the beach stairs . This region of Nova Scotia is known for its warm waters where the LaHave River meets the Atlantic Ocean. During low tide, explore the private beach surrounding Whitecaps. A warm beach with shallow sand bars is a rare experience on the East Coast (see photos and videos of our girls playing on the beach last summer). If it’s surf you are looking for, Hirtle's and Kingsburg beaches are mere minutes away. We are located 15 minutes from Lunenburg, a World Heritage UNESCO site and home of the Bluenose II sailing schooner. In the town you will find restaurants, galleries, a museum, quaint book stores and charming shops near the waterfront. The LaHave ferry is a 5 minute drive from Whitecaps. The cable ferry takes you to the well known LaHave Bakery. Park your car and take the ferry across or drive on board to explore the south side of the LaHave River. Attractions/ Adventures in the Area - Hiking Gaff Point - Ovens Sea Caves - Tour the Bluenose II in Lunenburg - Beaches: Hirtles, Crescent, Rissers - Petite Riviere Vinyard (cross on the ferry) - Sea Kayaking - Deep Sea Fishing - Seasonal Festivals - Nordic Spa in Chester, Spa at Ninety4 in Lunenburg and others. - Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic - And many more!

We really enjoyed our stay. It is a beautiful house and the location is just perfect. The host was very prompt in answering any question that we had and was very accommodating when there was an emergency. I will highly recommend this place to everyone.
There were a couple of things that I did not like. First, the listing said breakfast was included, but there was nothing, not even basic condiments. Second, the bathroom water had a weird smell, and there was no soap or body wash in the shower.
Other than that, we had a great time in this house. Thank you for letting us stay at your place.

We had an incredible time at Whitecaps Retreat! The house is very cosy and spaceous with all the things you need and more to have a great stay. The surrounding is very quiet and the view above the bay is just awesome! The communication with Jacqui and Andy was easy and very kind. We can fully recommend this wonderful place and hope to come back soon!

Just perfect - a beautiful house, in a great location

We (3 older couples) stayed for a week and enjoyed the views immensely. We had several day trips in the area which were convenient. The kitchen and dining areas were well setup and we were able to prepare and enjoy many meals together. The bedrooms are well separated that noise doesn’t carry. Beds are very comfortable. The scallops bought from Adams and Knickle in Lunenburg made more than one fabulous meal to have at the house. Also LaHave Bakery had black bean brownies to die for.

Two families stayed in this well appointments home away from home. We had all the creature comforts we could ask for - fire pit, grill; washer/dryer, soaking tub, outstanding deck and a short walk to the ocean.

My extended family rented all 3 cottages on the property and had a lovely family reunion. All cottages are fully stocked , with great out door space and a 5 minute walk apart so it worked perfectly for being together for meals but space apart when we wanted. Lahave is a charming location with a fun ferry ride close by to the bakery and Hirtle’s Beach a quick 15 minute drive from the cottages. Our only challenge were the evening mosquitoes but bug spray and a great screen porch in one of the cottages helped immensely. This is our second stay so we would certainly recommend it to all who are considering it!

We had an incredible stay at this AMAZING location! This home away from home provided us with breathtaking views and tranquil rest to truly re-charge. Our family highly recommends!!

Incredible stay and perfect accommodations. The split home set up allowed my in laws to have their own space/home on one side of the house while my wife and I and our “busy kids”occupied the other side. The view was remarkable from just about every spot on the property. We were greeted by seals playing in the water on many occasions and even had a seagull drop a live crab on the beach for us to inspect! This was our young children’s first trip out of the States and Jacqui and Andy’s cottage was PERFECT. It is difficult to find accommodations that are for EVERYONE while also providing the wow factor of location location location. We are travel snobs….and Whitecaps cottage is EVERYTHING it says that it is! We hope to return when our kids are a bit older to experience even more of the magic of Lower Lahave and Nova Scotia! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 5 stars from our circus of 4 from Richmond Hill, GA!

Exceptionally well appointed and designed to host more than one family. The power of a great place is that it shines regardless of the weather. Forest fires, cold torrential rain and power outage and we had a fantastic time!!! We enjoyed the view and the blankets on the deck sipping wine and watching the neighborhood bald eagle dive for fish while warding off an angry pack of terns swooping like StarWars fighters. Sipping coffee and watching cormorants get their breakfast. Power outage was a fantastic opportunity to be local and have breakfast in town at Fancy Pants. The collaborative main space with a kitchen with everything you could need to create a gourmet meal was optimal for creating memories woth 8 people at the table. Oh! And the beds and linens were lovely…especially choices in pillow density. Devils In the Details and Jacqui and. Andy seem to have thought of everything. We even staged a photo by the amazing Firepit we hope to return to use! Five star all the way. Thank you for your hospitality.

This was our second stay and it was just as great as the first! We ended up accidentally leaving a few things this time and Andy and Jacqui were very helpful in returning them to our family after our stay. Thanks again!

Pictures do not do this place justice. Perfect for our vacation. Large and comfortable with a deck and outdoor space for many. Loved sitting out there late afternoon and evenings for the fantastic sunset and views.
There was plenty of everything we needed, from paper towels to towels and beach chairs. We would return anytime…loved it!

This is a top notch property with amazing views and ocean access. Jacqui and Andy think of all those special things - evening fire blankets, beach towels, beach chairs and even boogie boards! Fantastic time for all of us after not being together since 2019.

Had a wonderful stay at this quiet and scenic home. The accommodations were comfortable and well stocked, especially in the kitchen. Our young children especially loved the beach area where they built sand castles and looked for treasure. All in all, an amazing stay.

Amazing property. Well equipped with everything, a family on vacation, would ever need. Hosts were available and responsive from booking to check out. Had a small issue with check in, and the hosts showed up the next day with a gift and apology for the minor inconvience. Perfect vacation home for a multifamily situation. Also booked an adjacent property (same owner) for the grandparents. They loved being part of the chaos, with the option of walking a few minutes back to the peace a quiet of their beautiful cabana. Made for a truly enjoyable vacation for all.

Beautiful View
This is a well appointed cottage, with lots of attention to details. Scenery is spectacular however access to the beach can be challenging for mobility challenged individuals. Location is in close proximity to Lunenberg, Mahone Bay and Bridgewater. Great location for a family reunion!

Whitecaps retreat
Well appointed, clean and beautiful location. Only issue on check-in was location of the lock box for the key (on the back side of one of the columns and took afew minutes to find), could be pointed out on the check-in notes.

March Break beach vacation close to home.
Perfect location and layout for two families to share for a March Break getaway from the hustle and bustle of work and kids activities. We brought enough food for an army, and when the wine supply got low we found a selection at the nearby General Store. We had a gorgeous spring day to walk along the shore and enjoy the view from the deck (my bald husband even got a slight sunburn in March, with sunscreen on!). Another more drizzly day we took the cable ferry to the LaHave Bakery for coffee and treats. Plenty of room to cook meals, play board games, and watch some movies on Netflix. Everything we needed was there. We would love to return again, any season.
