Located in Duck, this charming condo for $405 per night is a great choice for your next break. Dune Nest is a lovely, comfortable and cozy, newly updated one bedroom two bath condo located just seconds to the beach in Duck, NC on the Outer Banks! Our condo is on the 1st floor with fantastic expansive views of the Atlantic ocean beach and dunes. Our ocean front deck is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic's surf, watch dolphins play and pelicans flying and to idle the day away. Imagine your morning coffee and you on the deck watching the sunrise, listening to the surf, and watching the pelicans flying by as they start their day. Bring your binoculars or use ours for close ups of the dolphins, pelicans, loons, sandpipers, seagulls etc. Dune Nest offers a master bedroom with a comfy queen-sized bed, newly updated full baths (super convenient for a family), comfortable queen-sized sofa bed, arm chairs, hallway twin bunk beds, modern kitchen, two flat screen TVs (living room and master bedroom), DVD player/movie library, free WiFi, beach chairs and umbrella, Keurig Coffee maker, drip coffee maker, hair dryer, new HVAC system, high-end quiet ceiling fans, dining table for 6, keyless entry system, and much more. Please note our condo is on the first floor of a three story building with stairs and no elevator. Because the property is built on pilings to manage potential floods, there are 17 steps to reach this first floor unit. Note: Linens and towels are NOT included in our rental, but can be rented by guests directly with a linen rental company to help guests keep their costs down. Or guests may bring their own linens and towels. Pillows, blankets and quilts are provided. Our beach-- only steps away from our condo -- features coastal dunes, soft sand, nice surf and great beach combing. We have beach chairs and umbrella for your use during your visit. In addition to our beach front, our condo community has an outdoor pool (unheated), outdoor grills, basketball and tennis courts (bring your balls and rackets), pool side restrooms, oceanfront showers, ocean front gazebos, and coin operated laundry facilities. We are only a short 15 minute walk to the lovely, historical village of Duck where you can enjoy the lovely shops, buy groceries, eat at great restaurants and cafes, enjoy sound side sunset views by the bar, sip coffee at Duck Cottage Books, rent bikes to ride on the jogging/biking trails, walk the sound-side boardwalk for bird watching and shopping and eating, and rent canoes, kayaks and other water sports equipment. Bring your binoculars or use ours to bird watch and get great close ups of dolphins in our surf. Superb viewing from our deck! I had an incredible time on my stay here. It was beautiful, quiet and had an incredible view.
A favorite moment was EVERY morning around 10 am the dolphins came to play right in front of the condo. One day they stayed for about 45 minutes just jumping and playing. There were a pair of binoculars left for guests so it was so much fun just watching them up close while I drank my morning energy drink!
A Note- I didn't read my check-in instructions very well until RIGHT before I left so I almost came without linens. Be aware to bring your own towels and linens.
Mike and Mary were incredibly responsive and worked with me on the few requests I had. I will definitely come back!

The condo was organized well and was great for my husband and I to spend a few days together. Clean rooms, comfortable furniture, nice artwork. Mike and Mary did a great job communicating.
A cold spell gave us a deserted beach, and we enjoyed bundling up and taking long walks. Being the off-season, some restaurants and shops were closed, but we appreciated the absence of crowds and found plenty of interesting places and delicious food.
We did not love bringing our own sheets, towels, kitchen towels, soap, toilet paper and tissues! We had to fly here, and it was pretty inconvenient packing them and then taking home wet things--a little bit like camping.

Wonderful view of the ocean. The deck was great. Never got tired of the surf sounds. Fully equipped kitchen. Great location, close to Duck’s boardwalk with shopping and dining. We stayed in the 3rd week of October. Very laid back, few people. We would definitely return to Dune Nest.
Make sure you understand if you need to supply your own linens and what cleaning is required before check out.

This is a wonderful condo right on the beach in Duck, within walking distance of all the restaurants. The condo itself is very nice and comfortable. We did have to bring our own linens, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, My only negative comment concerns the list of tasks the owners expected upon leaving - they wanted the beds made as they were found, dishes washed, trash taken out (which that one makes sense to me), the place vacuumed - I'm wondering what our cleaning fee covered. (we did do the tasks requested) But the location is so good and it is a comfortable condo so I would definitely stay there again.

We have been vacationing in Duck for 15 years always staying at Colony by the Sea. For one reason or another, condos we have stayed in have become unavailable for rent. This was our first year in this particular condo and it was wonderful. The condo was spotless which is extremely important to me, updated, and very accessible. Owners were very responsive to the one question I had. We will definitely stay here again!

We have been coming to Duck for over 40 years. Always have stayed with our friends who own a house - but not enough rooms for our three-generation group. We have stayed at Colony by the Sea before, but this condo is truly exceptional - very well equipped, beautifully decorated (light and bright) and an incredible location: steps from the ocean, parking VERY close to the condo, and perfect walking/bike riding distance from all the special things that Duck has to offer. Trust me - you will not regret booking this place!

This property was tops! Beautiful condo right on the water with excellent pool and outdoor amenities. Duck is an adorable and well designed town with a gorgeous bay side boardwalk that I could walk every evening to watch the sunset and never get board. The beach was gorgeous! We hope to return soon.

We had a great week at Dune Nest! The condo is the closest one to the water and we had great morning views of the ocean while drinking our coffee out on the deck. Keep an eye out for dolphins! Mike was very helpful and responsive to our messages. Would highly recommend!

The weather was TERRIBLE, but we still very much enjoyed our stay. The apartment was impeccably clean and comfortable. We'll definitely be back to enjoy Duck in warmer, sunnier weather.

The condo is in a great location. Very walkable to restaurants and shops.
Unfortunately we didn't have the greatest weather during our stay (cool and extremely windy) so we didn't get to enjoy the beach or even really sit out on balcony. But what a great view it is from the balcony to see the beach! We did get to see one sunrise because it wasn't cloudy that day and so nice to view from the living room (I tried balcony but the winds were 15-20 mph during my stay so just too blustery). The condo is very spacious and comfy. Besides the weather (which obviously couldn't be helped), I loved my stay here. I even saw deer and rabbits around the property.
Overall a great experience with easy check in information and clean spacious condo. If I ever come back to the Outer Banks, I will definitely stay here again.

This unit was perfect for us! Only two of us, but plenty of room to not bump into each other! Cute and nicely decorated. Only one floor to walk up, and nice view of the ocean. Also loved being in earshot of the crashing waves! Duck is a 1.5 mile walk, and all flat if you are so inclined. There are a lot of dining choices, but be prepared to pay top price. Adorable shops and Duck Donuts is a MUST!

This is a nice place! It had everything we needed, though we brought our own linens. It was comfortable, nicely appointed and great for 2 kids and 2 adults to enjoy a quick little get away to Duck for a couple of days.
Since its the lowest floor, you can see the ocean, but not the beach, which was fine for us. It is on the far side of the building, so you will have to walk a little further than those on the other side of the building (be honest - we all need those extra steps, don't we?)
They had a few items in the storage box outside that were helpful at the beach.
The location is perfect.
You could walk into "town" and restaurants, but the drive is 2 minutes. We drove.
All in all, it was a relaxing, relatively low cost stay, in a nice place. Its all we were looking for.

Our stay at this VRBO was very pleasant. It is a great location, the property is clean and in wonderful shape with a beautiful view of the ocean. This was the first VRBO we have encountered where we had to bring all linens and towels, so that was a surprise to us, but we, nevertheless, enjoyed our stay here and would return if we come back to the Outer Banks again.

A great, relaxing stay at Dune Nest. The condo was very cozy, welcoming, clean and well-maintained...and wonderfully located on the dunes. We felt right at home as soon as we checked in. The host provided very useful info and replied quickly to my questions. Sunrise over the Atlantic and sunset on the Sound were amazing!

Overall our stay was good. The location was wonderful and the view off of the patio was amazing! Since our visit was in the offseason we had the whole place to ourselves!! The condo kitchen has a 99% of the basics but bring your own seasoning, paper towels, and dish rags if you plan to use the kitchen. Also, linens like bath towels and sheets are NOT included and plan to bring your own toilet paper and hand soap for the bathrooms too.
Our issue was with the cleanliness. I didn't realize that the owners did not assess a cleaning fee when we booked our stay, makes me think there may not be a service that cleans the condo between guests. When we got there the table was dirty, there was food stuck in the seat of one of the dinette chairs, the counter top was sticky, there was hair in the master bathroom shower and garbage was left in the master bathroom trash can. Had there been a fee charged for cleaning I would have complained when we arrived, since there wasn't one we decided to not press the issue.
The checkout notes asked that we remake the bed so that it was ready for the next guest... Stands to reason that the blankets are not washed between guests. That's gross and I'm glad we brought all of our own blankets and pillows.

Property location was perfect; right next to the beach. The apartment is average but consistent with the price. The continuous sounds that transfers from apartment above made it unbearable. If it were not for the location, I would not live here.

Off season ment most of the restaurants and shops were closed (dispite their web pages indicating they were open).
This is the first property that we had to bring all our linens and even toilet paper! Missed that info when scheduling, but the info was there and very grateful I saw that!
Never could get the bedroom TV to work dispite following all the instructions and even calling the "help" line. But this was a minor bump in the stay.
Over all, I would recommend this property.

We stayed in the off season and appreciated the off-season rates for this ocean view condo. It was exactly as depicted and shown through the photos. We took note that we had to bring our own towels and linens, as well as soaps for kitchen and bath, but we presume that is why there was no cleaning fee. It all worked out perfectly for us. We enjoyed watching from the deck or living room as the sun rise over the ocean. The beach was right in front of the condo, and everywhere in OBX is just a short drive away. Wonderful!

My wife and I plus four kids (ages, 7, 12, 16, 17) enjoyed a quick weekend trip here. The view of the ocean was great, beach access was easy, and the rental itself was well maintained. It made a great 'home base' for our trip. Communication with the owners was always quick and very helpful. We would stay here again!
One piece of advice for those with 4 kids: Sleeping was tight for two on the pull out sofa. We recommend bringing one or two small air mattresses if you have older kids.

The owners have ways been super gracious and accommodating, this time they allowed us to reschedule when a work obligation unexpectedly arose. Located only a half mile from some shops and food, this property gave our family travel flexibility even with poor weather. It seemed like previous renter didn’t abide by the check-out instructions and left the property slightly disheveled; trash left, needing swept but nothing atrocious. Good value for the price overall.
