First, the porch is amazing. We spent most of our time out there, eating at the table, playing with the grandkids, reading at night and enjoying each others company on the rockers and couch. The kitchen was very well-equipped and stocked, beds were comfortable and the layout of the house was conducive to our large group of varied ages. The driveway

This house was perfect for our annual 4th of July reunion. We spent a lot of our time sitting in big circles on the porch, laughing and talking. The kitchen/den area was comfortable, and the large eating table held the whole crew of 12. The beds were comfortable, and everyone slept well which helps a vacation. It was a perfect wee.

Perfect home for multigenerational family vacation. The large screened in porch was our favorite gathering place! Look forward to coming again!
Danny Sharpe was wonderful to work with.

we throughly enjoy our stay,. the house was exactly as described and the kitchen had every item you would need for cooking, baking, and storage. We spent every night on the porch and had all meals family style at the exceptionally large table. There were a few questions in the beginning of our stay and the owner responded timely. If space, ease of use and relaxation are what you are looking for this is the property for you.

It’s a great space and super cozy. If you are looking to be able to freely walk to Montreat, it’s not bad there. Walking back is difficult due to being on the mountain. Our kids would still walk it, though. I would recommend staying there.

This house was just perfect for our family group that changed over the week.. The kitchen was particularly well designed and had us all dreaming of remodels. The porch was a Mecca for all and the baby was so happy with the rocking chairs.
The only challenge was the driveway but that’s pretty standard for Montreal. It,’s super steep and we were glad for 4 wheel drive. At night the driveway is very dark and a couple of us had mishaps with the Boulder and the sign posts. We would love to come next year.

Lovely Retreat and still close to Asheville and other atractions/activities!
This home is gracious, spacious and roomy. My family stayed for a week and enjoyed a wonderful vacation together. There are 16 of us, 5 couples and children ranging from 10 months to 18 years, and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax. There is LOTS of comfortable seating and the open floor plan of the kitchen/living room/porch allowed us to spread out but still be together. The porch was the runaway favorite room for most of our group, and we all gathered there to play games and visit every evening after dinner until after midnight. During the day, we wandered out to the porch to sip our coffee, or enjoy the fresh air that stayed mild even on hot days. The "fairy lights" in the trees surrounding the porch made the spot feel magical after dark.
Our daughters-in-law loved the den/study, and one of them could usually be found reading in a recliner after the little ones were in bed.
The property owners have collected some original art that I enjoyed tremendously, and they made the house feel much warmer and more personal than the average rental. And when the description says the kitchen has all the cookware and tools you could want, they are not kidding! We only dined out one night; otherwise we took turns preparing meals and no matter what we needed, it was there.
We visited the Biltmore Estate, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, and went rafting on the French Broad river during our stay. Honestly, we had intended to do a few other things, but we were enjoying the peaceful charm of the house so much that we ended up relaxing there instead of running all over the place. At the end of our stay, we all felt we had a perfect vacation!

Superb, Flawless Home and Experience
This home made our stay at Montreat absolutely wonderful. The owner was very communicative and easy to deal with. House is brand new, kitchen is stocked with any appliance or tool or dish you would need, porch is very comfortable, location is perfect—up in the mountains and walking distance to Lake Susan, neighbors are great, beds are very comfortable, attic fan cools the house almost immediately, extremely clean/spotless, fireplace works great, backyard has very relaxing lighting, everything in the house works, house smells great (no mildew/old house smell), very spacious and luxurious. Highest recommendation—if you’re staying in Montreat, this is the best house. Thank you Danny for making our extended family vacation perfect!

Amazing and cozy!
My extended family of 14 stayed at this gorgeous home over the 2019 Thanksgiving holiday weekend. There was plenty of room for all of us to eat, sleep and hang out. The 5 bedrooms are set up perfectly for a large group. The split bathrooms in the basement is a great set up too. The tankless water heater never let us down with 3 people in the shower, the washing machine and dishwasher running at the same time. The giant kitchen table with the window bench is the perfect gathering space. The kitchen itself is large and very well stocked. Everything was very clean. This home is cozy and inviting and only a short drive to the grocery, Black Mountain and Asheville. And the screened in porch is fantastic! The listing and images are spot on the real thing. The owner was responsive to our text messages and emails when we had questions and was willing to accommodate us with early check-in and a bit later departure. We would definitely stay there again!

We were a group of 8 women who had lived in the same college dorm; some of us hadn't seen each other in 45 years, so finding this place was magical! It was huge, with plenty of room for us to spread out in the five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The kitchen is more than adequate, and the large dining table was the scene of several happy meals, as well as game nights. Can't say enough about the spectacular screened in porch! Five large wooden rocking chairs, two glass-topped dining tables (one was the sight of our 1000-piece puzzle marathon) with chairs, and the main seating area with sofa, chairs and coffee table. A creek runs beside the house, lulling us to sleep each night. With Asheville, Black Mountain, and other beautiful areas nearby, we were able to get our fill of interesting sites (Biltmore, Asheville's downtown, hand-made crafts stores) as well as great restaurants (Red Rocker Inn and Restaurant). But the porch was the memory maker: early morning coffee, afternoon wine and nibbles, late evening chats. Loved every minute!

My only complaint was having to make the beds when we got there. After traveling all day the last thing I wanted to do was make a bed.

Beautiful home, great location.
This house was perfect for our group of 13. We had plenty of space and especially loved the porch! Everything was very clean and well maintained. Our expectations were exceeded by far. Montreat is beautiful and the house is just a short drive to Asheville. We highly recommend this rental home for your next visit to North Carolina.

All the comforts of home
We had a wonderful time at the house with family from all over the country for my daughter’s graduation. We had 10 adults and five kids and everyone was comfortable and had plenty of room to either be together or for some alone time. The screened porch was blissful! Thanks for a wonderful family weekend.

Excellent cabin tucked into the woods.
A few friends of ours came in town to experience North Carolina and the multiple breweries in Asheville. Not only was our residence second to none, but the fact that we were able to enjoy ourselves and not worry about driving anywhere was great. We were worried that taxis or Uber wouldn’t come out this way, but they did! We definitely intend on coming back. We couldn’t of had a more relaxing, fun time.
The property itself is tucked away in the mountains. There is a screened in back deck with checkers and foozeball, rocking chairs, and dining tables.
In short, we couldn’t be happier with our decision to come this weekend and hope to make it a yearly event.

Perfect!
The property owner was so easy to work with. The house was super clean and exactly what we were looking for. The view from the porch is heavenly. We were only about thirty minutes from the Biltmore. But the house was so nice and cozy we could have stayed in the whole time and had just as much fun. So thankful for this place.

Beautiful place in the mountains.
We spent a wonderful weekend at this house after touring the Biltmore House celebrating Mother's 75th birthday! There were 16 of us and we had plenty of space to spread out and visit! It rained while we were there but we still enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch. The heater on the enclosed porch was a nice touch and took the chill off and made for cosy chats! The only drawback was the steep driveway which was an experience in itself. We will come here again!

Daddy Daughter weekend
What an amazing place. A little hard to find at first cause of the small roads, but once you got there, the place was perfect. The girls had a blast checking out the creek abd the wooded area. The back porch got alot of use from drinking coffee in the morning to having a couple cocktails at night.

Lovely home! Very comfortable!
We rented the home for a girls weekend for 12. This is a wonderful property with plenty of open conversation space. The space was perfect, as were the numerous comfortable beds. We especially enjoyed the small enclosed room off the den and the new spacious porch with the running stream beside it. Lovely - we will be back!

Staying at Montreat
Great place for a large group (14) like ours. This is the first time that all 14 of us could sit at the same table together and enjoy a meal. The kitchen was very well equipped. The house itself is very nice and the furnishings are very nice. Montreat and Black Mountain are very nice and fun to visit. The German Restaurant in Black Mountain was exceptional. We all agreed that we would stay there in that same house again. L. D. Brya III

Nice place for large groups
This place was great for a reunion weekend with old college friends. Very spacious, good layout, well-equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the proximity to Black Mountain, a nice quaint town with good restaurants. The large kitchen table was very nice, but even better was the spacious and scenic screened in porch. I will say that we overlooked the detail about this cabin not having central a/c -- an important detail to consider if you're visiting in the summer months, but the whole house fan worked well and the shady location helped -- we spent most of our time on the screened in porch and found it very cool and pleasant out there throughout our stay. We'd stay here again!
