We wanted a nice quiet place in the country to get away for the winter holidays. We picked Coonabarabran as it’s near some great walks in Warrumbungle national park and great to see the stars at night. We also wanted a comfortable place to stay and Warrumbungle Retreat was great for that. Great space for the family and we could have even accommodated another family. Very cozy with the wood fired heater. Well equipped kitchen that let us prepare some nice meals. And a great yard to walk around and see the stars at night. To top it off, the outdoor hot tub was fabulous for relaxing in and soothe our tired muscles after a few good days of hiking. Would highly recommend Warrumbungle retreat to any one looking for a nice break in the country.

Amazing retreat in the Warrumbungles
This was a wonderful property to stay in - beautiful, comfortable, lovely garden, loads of space, and a great location. We loved visiting the Warrumbungles for the wonderful scenery and the amazing stargazing.

We have stayed a couple of times at this property. It has plenty of space for a large family or two families. It’s warm and cosy. Beautiful outlook to sit on the verandah and chill. Great little spa to relax in after a big walk in the Warrambungles. Close to town and not far to drive to surrounding activities.

The Warrumbungle Retreat is a well positioned house, close to Coonabarabran (2km) and on the way to the Warrumbungles. The roaring fire greeted us on arrival and set the tone for our four night stay. The property description matched our experience of the amenities. We recommend this property.

A quaint cottage in a beautiful part of Australia. Comfy beds and lovely backyard, and my family enjoyed the spa.

We had a lovely stay at Michelle's property. Michelle was very helpful and quickly responded to any questions.
The house has plenty of space for 2 families with teenagers. The outdoor fire pit was a big hit and providing a telescope for star viewing was a great bonus. The garden is beautiful, lots of space for ball games and the large verandah was ideal for sitting out on and relaxing with a view of the garden. The property is in a quiet location, but a close drive to Coonabarabran and the Warrumbungles.
A great place to stay and a lovely break from city life!
Thanks Michelle

My family stayed 4 nights at Warrumbungle Retreat enjoying what the area had to offer. The house is in tidy condition and is well appointed. Host had kindly lit the fire for our arrival (she lives in an adjacent cottage). Towels were old and thin but nice flannelette sheets and comfortable beds.
Would have been a great stay, however the host forgot we were bringing our small dog despite informing of this on booking. Unfortunately upon arrival the host began by accusing us of not declaring the dog. We felt most unwelcome and no apology was given. Please note that whilst listing advertises 'pets welcome' they are only permitted outside AND property is not properly fenced.

We really enjoyed our stay at Michelle’s property. The hot tub and fire made for a relaxing visit and good base for exploring the nearby area. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our group One comment the knives could do with a sharpen to make cooking a bit easier!

Walking Holiday in the Warrumbungles
A great house to stay with very comfortable beds, sunny verandah and a wonderful combustion fire that warms the whole house if staying in Winter. The kitchen has a brand new stove for those who love to cook. Michelle was a very attentive and lovely host. It's also an easy drive to the Warrumbungles fabulous walking tracks. Only other comment was a little extra clean on our visit would have been desirable. We would love to return.

Warrumbungle’s hidden gem
A weekend away from the city and noise is exactly what you can expect from this little gem!
Beautiful kitchen and dining area, perfect for entertaining. The comfiest beds and flannel linen (an extra surprise for winter visits). Nicely decorated country style house and the fresh flowers were a beautiful touch too.
We made thorough use of the games which were provided in front of the fireplace.
Thank you Michelle for having us, we truly enjoyed our stay.

Beware
This property is grossly misrepresented and overpriced. The air conditioning consists of one split system in the kitchen area only. There is no air conditioning in any of the bedrooms and only one bedroom has a ceiling fan. Some of the fly screens are torn and ill fitting, so the windows can't be opened to provide fresh air without also allowing an invasion of insects in. In spite of not opening the windows we found hopping insects already in our beds. Be prepared to swelter in the summertime. In general the property is tired, grotty and not very clean. For a property in western NSW where the temperature regularly gets into the thirties the lack of air conditioning makes for an uncomfortable stay and lack of sleep. Definitely not worth the high price. With this property you're definitely not getting what you pay for.
