Get away from it all! Remote lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom log home with sleeping loft nestled in the woods and looking out on a bold cascading stream. Soak in the covered hot tub or rock on the covered porch overlooking the rushing stream and relax to the sound of the beautiful waterfalls. Open up the windows and feel the cool mountain air, fall asleep to the calming sound of falling water - The best nights sleep. Gather round the fire-pit, roast marshmallows, and soak up the scenery. Cook burgers and hot dogs on the bank of the stream on the picnic table with park style charcoal grill. Relax, hike, or play in this true mountain paradise! . WiFi and free long distance calls included. Enough room for everyone, 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, 1 full sleeper sofa. **NOTE: The cabin is 2.6 miles from Hwy 19 into our mountain community on Hornbuckle Creek. The road is gravel (not steep) but is very well maintained by the HOA, we have provided very detailed driving directions and proper signage as GPS is not fully accurate in the mountains. It is a 15 minute drive to town. While in the winter months - driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle would be recommended, no need in other seasons. If getting away from the crowds and enjoying a remote Great Smoky Mountain experience is your thing , you will love this place! The kitchen is extremely well equipped to prepare any meal. Outside you will enjoy cooking on the gas or charcoal grill over the stream. In the beautiful cool evenings of spring and fall take the chill off watching the flames in the woodstove fireplace. Pets may be considered. Ask us. For Larger Groups or If Your Preferred Dates are Unavailable: If you are traveling with more than 7 guests and need 2 cabins for your mountain vacation, we encourage you check out our neighbor's cabin, Hemlock Creek Hollow (VRBO #1159678). Hemlock Creek Hollow is on the same rushing creek as we are and in a breath taking setting. Hemlock Creek Hollow is an approximate 10 minute walk from Running Bear Falls (or shorter if you follow the creek) and boasts stellar 5 star reviews. If Running Bear Falls is not available for your preferred dates, we encourage you to check out Hemlock Creek Hollow (VRBO #1159678) as an alternative. We can assure that you will not be disappointed with either option.

This is one of the best vacations we have ever taken! You will truly enjoy your vacation, and you will feel like this log cabin is home away from home… property was absolutely beautiful and the cabin is well kept and very clean. The property owners are premier host for a reason this home and vacation exceeded our expectations! We look forward to returning to Running Bear Falls!!!

The property is way off the road, some driveway work could make it a little less agressive driving. I've stayed back in this area before but this property was just over the creek. The listing of things to do around the cabin is a plus when you just want to stay in for the day and look at the veiw along with waterfall.

The cabin is in a beautiful location, the creek is right out the front door, you can hear the water as soon as you arrive.. You will find everything you need inside this lovely cabin.. just bring food and clothes.. The owners thought of everything, nothing to desire..
Just a very relaxing place.. don’t hesitate to book this cabin.. this was our second time at Running Bear.. It truly is just like the pictures in the listing.

If you're looking for paradise, secluded, running creek, no one around then this is the place. If I could afford it I would live here year round. Internet & phone service is a little sketchy but in paradise who cares?

Cabin was great and the location is just what I was looking for to unplug for a few days. The property was secluded, beautiful and well maintained. Will definitely stay here again!

Pictures do not do this cabin justice! It is beautiful inside and out. Anything you could ever need is already on site. The views are breathtaking - we enjoyed exploring the creek and then relaxing on the porch, watching the hummingbirds. We will definitely be making a return trip!

We absolutely loved this property. The house was so cozyand had all the amenities you could ever need. The porch was our favorite place for watching the grandkids play in the creek, watch the birds on the feeders and just totally relax and let go of lifes everyday stresses. We will gladly stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality. Everything was perfect.

The cabin was wonderful and had everything you needed and more.The stream was beautiful and so relaxing and fun for hunting salamanders and exploring.We really enjoyed sitting by the stream.The only negative was the drive to and from the cabin. We didnt have 4 wheel drive but wished we did. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Thank you Neil and Sherie!!!

The perfect getaway

This property is a little piece of paradise ! The pictures don’t do it justice! The cabin was very clean & very comfortable. The creek is gorgeous and our kids loved playing in it. It is quite remote. Bring all your groceries in with you if you can, you might not want to leave for a while once you get there! The kitchen has all the essentials needed for cooking. We made a fire in the fire pit next to the creek and roasted marshmallows almost every night. The hot tub was great after playing in the cold creek water. This is a wonderful place to relax & get away from it all!

The pictures do not do this property and cabin justice. It is secluded which is what we like. There is one neighbor but they are a good distance away and we never even saw them. This was by far the best cabin we have ever rented. The stream is magical. We brought our puppy with us and she enjoyed running through the woods and playing in the water. She wasn’t on the leash all weekend and was just as at peace as we were (she is a hyper pup so that says a lot). At one point, my husband and I looked at each other and agreed that we had not felt this relaxed in a very long time. The cabin is very well stocked. You can tell that this is a place that the owners love and we are so happy they are willing to share it. The hot tub is off the master and just the general layout of the cabin is awesome. We went out and explored the surrounding areas but agreed that we did not find any places much prettier than where we were staying. We would highly recommend this cabin and plan on booking again.

The cabin is one of the nicest, best appointed and beautifully situated we have stayed in for 35 years. So far as cleanliness, scenery and layout are concerned, it is unsurpassed. All the amenities you could want are provided. It made us wish we'd brought our whole family. I particularly loved the hot tub, after following my wife and dog along the stream. Great hiking opportunities. The road is definitely challenging, especially during and after a heavy rain, but is manageable. We loved our stay!

Running Bear Falls cabin is a like a fairytale!! The sound of the stream took our stress away with it. The location was great for accessing all the wonderful NC Smoky Mountains towns and the road to get there was completely doable in our Subaru. We had rainy weather…perfect for sitting in the covered hot tub, listening to the stream, enjoying the wood burning stove, watching movies, playing games, and reading books!! The house is incredibly well appointed and Neil and Sherri were so great to work with!! We hope to be back soon and can’t recommend the place enough!!!

Sheri and Neil really know how to make you feel at home. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils and pans for cooking. The setting of the cabin next to the creek was so peaceful. The fire pit by the creek and porch facing the creek was so amazing. This is a place you can unplug and truly relax. My kids (7 and under) didn’t not want to leave. Our family will definitely be back and hopefully for a longer stay.

I really can’t say enough great things about this cabin. It was absolutely perfect, everything we needed for our weekend getaway. Shari and Neil have really out done themselves when it comes to providing everything you need to stay here. Any spice you can think of for cooking coffee,tea all your table wear and pots and pans you would need. We took advantage of all the amenities and loved them all. From the wood burning fireplace,hot tub, rockers on the porch both gas and charcoal grills and fire pit down by the creek that’s on the property. The sound of the small creek that runs along the property is wonderful and relaxing. We loved exploring the area going to the casino and Gatlinburg were fun. Loved the small hometown restaurants/shops and can’t wait to come back again with our family.

Everything was absolutely perfect, the welcome gift bag is awesome! You have thought of everything you would want or need. Such a beautiful setting to destress and relax. I could sit on the porch in a rocker all day just listening to the water and nature's beauty. I highly recommend the the hot tub, it was sparkling clear water. Thank you, we will definitely return!

Don't miss out on this relaxing and exhilarating location! It is far enough away to unplug but close enough to connect with key locations throughout the Smokey Mountains. I enjoy photography and hiking. This location was perfect! I was able to get wonderful videos and photographs of elk, bears, and scenic landscapes while hiking throughout the Smokies and around the log home. It was so relaxing hearing the stream, sitting on the porch and watching hummingbirds, making s'mores around the campfire, and relaxing in the hot tub! Thank you, Pritchards!

We have stayed in this area for over 30 years for our family vacations. Running Bear Falls is by far the best place we have ever stayed and the only cabin we will ever want to stay in the future. You aren't staying in a "rental" you are staying in someone's home away from home. Everything you need is right there and more. The owners have thought of everything. Hornbuckle Creek is perfection. The firepit area is just the setting to relax after a day at Cherokee or Maggie Valley. Which the cabin is conveniently nestled between these two towns. The hot tub overlooks the creek and is so relaxing. The covered porch also over looks the creek and I will admit was my personal favorite place. I rocked the day away watching the humming birds, chipmunks, and listening to the tranquil sounds of nature. The only downfall is we didn't want to leave. Thanks again for sharing your cabin with us. Words can't express how wonderful your cabin is but I tried.

Wow- this place is stunning! A rolling stream out the back porch that lulls you to sleep at night. Such a warm and welcoming atmosphere in this beautiful log cabin home that is immaculate!
My daughter loved the upstairs loft which was her own personal living room. The upstairs bedroom had a large queen bed, and 2 comfortable twins. Downstairs main bedroom has a lovely queen bed, jacuzzi bath tub, and opens to the hot tub deck, which also overlooks the stream.
We enjoyed the fire pit, grill, and picnic table directly on the stream while our dog enjoyed splashing in the water with us.
Can't wait to get back to 55 degree nights and 72 degree days at this fun, relaxing, and peaceful property!

The property was amazing and the hosts were fantastic! This is one of the most beautiful places we have been. A great place to unwind and get in touch with nature. Our kids (15, 10, 8) had a blast just playing in the river, catching salamanders, and playing games (classic battleship was a hit!) My wife and I loved relaxing on the huge deck with the hottub. The cabin is stocked with everything you could need and the beds are clean and comfortable. Book it, you won't regret it!

My family (including our 2 dogs) and I were looking for a relaxing cabin retreat in the mountains, and this place was the answer. RBF is a beautiful cabin in an even more beautiful natural oasis. This cabin comfortably accommodated our family of 4 adults with the comforts of a home away from home. We enjoyed quiet moments rocking in chairs on the porch, relaxed in the hot tub, and took advantage of the fire pit that sits beside a creek. To say the stay was heavenly would be putting it lightly. Our hosts were especially gracious. They helped us adequately prepare for our trip, what to expect in our travels, and provided resources for our stay. They extended such care for our stay you would have thought we were family. We cannot wait to go back!

Fun Family Trip
We had a wonderful 9 day stay at the cabin! The drive in from the highway did take some time however it was definitely worth it! Being able to come back from a day of hiking, kick back by the creek and have a campfire and relax to the sound of the running water was wonderful. My 2 boys 10/11 yo. truly enjoyed catching critters and floating around in the creek on their tubes! There were a few days we didn’t even leave to do our planned hikes because we enjoyed the property so much! The home was well stocked with everything we needed and we even got a nice welcome call the night we arrived. My family highly recommends this home and hope to come back again.

Peace by the water
This Cabin for starters exceeded my expectations, it was such a beautiful place and the water was so peaceful. I went with my Wife and two kids and they all loved it too. The road to enter the cabin was rough and I saw a lot of people say you need 4 wheel drive, but you can do it well without 4 wheel drive as we did in a mini van We highly recommend this Cabin if you like seclusion.

This is an awesome place! Was gone for 4 days and it felt like a week. The place had everything you need for a great time away. A short drive to waterfalls and beautiful sunsets. Note: you need a 4WD! The drive to the house is not for the faint of heart, but worth every hairpin turn!
