I can't express how nice our stay was here. Beach. Beach. Beach. The home itself was incredibly clean and had everything we needed to eat in most days. Relax on the decks. The beds are great. Bathrooms great. Even the outside shower was clean. The owners considered everything you would need to enjoy time away from home. Who wants to eat out in a stuffy restaurant when you have all you need and that view? BTW Harris Teeter always has excellent fresh food to make eating in simple. It's my 3rd trip here, and I'll keep coming back. It gets better year after year. The owners are always looking for ways to improve the property. This was the perfect spot for our family! Right on the beach, well-stocked, lots of amenities including some unexpected (and much appreciated) extra goodies! Bud & Janice are very friendly and responsive. It was a no-brainer to book again for next year.

Beautiful property that is obviously a treasured home with all the features. Clean , Well stocked , and views of the ocean from both levels. We had a hard time leaving for our adventures as we were just as happy staying home. Lovely Janice was so concerned with us getting a nice dinner after plane delayed arrival - she and Bud brainstormed nearby restaurants with descriptions for us. They also sent a list of “must see attractions”. Bud & Janice, thank you for sharing your home with us!

The house was right next to the beach. There are 3 decks. The house was spotless and was stocked with everything you could think of. It was cozy and comfortable. There were no problems whatsoever. We walked the beach, took nature hikes, went to the Wright Bros museum, walked the Duck boardwalk and ate at casual restaurants with great food. I highly recommend this place. Its a winner.

We LOVED our week long stay at Bud & Janice's Sugar Shack! It was exactly what our family of 4 needed! A perfect getaway in Duck! You can't get a better location. So scenic and so peaceful. And the beach is RIGHT THERE! The house exceeded my own high cleanliness standards. It was super clean. It felt like a home rather than a rental, which we really loved. Kitchen is fully stocked. Everything you could possibly need is there. Communication with Bud and Janice, from the start to the end, was wonderful. Our hosts even created a lovely basket of treats for our girls and our family which was a very sweet, kind and special touch! This was our first time to Duck and we will definitely come back! Thank you so much Janice and Bud :-)

The place was perfect , right on the beach, clean, quiet, access to everything. The Sugar eShack was absolutely beautiful, it gave u the feeling of HOME right away. Couldn’t have asked for more. Amazing location for our off season OBX trip. Steps from the beach and gorgeous view from the upper floor. Townhouse was clean, cozy, and well equipped. Owners were incredibly responsive and wow it’s just so much better to rent from an owner and not a rental company. Would love to stay here again!

This place was situated right on the beach, which was great for long walks and listening to the waves. It was also convenient to walk or bike to the town of Duck. Inside, the property was cozy and very well equipped, with great wifi. The view from the primary bedroom was fantastic.

This home is perfect for a small family looking for all the benefits of a larger home in a smaller package. The homeowners keep this property in perfect working order and make updates/upgrades every year. The property is well appointed having all the amenities you need for the beach. You can see the love and attention the owner’s give to this home that you will NEVER get renting from one of the larger rental companies. This is the third week that we have rented this home and we will be back again next year!

We have stayed at the Sugar Shack for 10 seasons - we just love it! The 2 bed-2 bath is perfect for our family of 4. The house is always clean and updated. The owners are awesome to work with. The proximity to the beach is unbeatable; and the location of Duck is perfect for our early morning walks. All in all, this place is hard to beat for a small family.

As new parents with a baby, this townhome was both extremely well appointed with all the amenities you need and an excellent location just steps from the beach that allowed us to easily enjoy our trip and get our little one in for naps as needed. As someone who loves to cook, I was particularly impressed by how well stocked the kitchen was with most of the appliances and tools that you could need. I typically bring my own tools as that isn’t usually the case. It was also cozy without feeling dated as some beach houses can be. We hope to come again! :)

One of top two vacation places we have stayed in more than thirty years. From the great ocean views off the decks, the location really can’t be beat. But that is just to start. Everything in this townhome was perfect. The linens on the very comfortable bed, the towels, the beautifully appointed main bedroom and bath were all just right. Tastefully decorated. Calming colors and artwork. The comfortable living area was so nice for relaxing after dark while we waited for the stars to come out. The kitchen had everything and more than needed for a vacation week and daily living with plenty of room to store groceries. Next time we will plan to cook more of our meals, the restaurants were great but hard to make reservations. I don’t usually enjoy cooking in other kitchens but this one has everything needed and everything is good quality. Very clean too. Didn’t need to wash everything first. It was just the two of us but plenty of room for four more. We had a great time and came home very relaxed. One more thing, although attached, we never heard our neighbors except when we ran into them on the beach! Thank you again!

This house was perfect! It had everything we needed for our family beach vacation and nephew’s graduation. It was clean and well appointed. It was easy to communicate with Bud and Janice. They helped us find a place to order a cake for the graduation. Thank you Bud and Janice for a wonderful week!! We did nit want to leave.

Sugar Shack was just perfect for us! The master has awesome views of the ocean and we saw dolphins almost every morning just after sunrise! The living area is also ocean front with a glimpse of ocean, and the sounds of waves crashing is available from multiple patio doors. There are outdoor seating options and even beach chairs for the beach. The kitchen is well stocked and the home’s beach decor keeps you in the beach mood. The owners were extremely helpful with recommendations of eateries and nice shops. Duck is a bit quieter, which we liked, but had access to plenty of great restaurants and some awesome shops. And only 20 min from Corolla and the wild horses. There are two bedrooms with ensuites, so good for tee two to four adults. Or family with two kids. Great to have laundry and parking onsite, as well.
