Located in the lovely Mandalay Shores neighborhood in Oxnard, CA. An ideal spot for vacationing. Take an excursion to the Channel Islands National Park; Main St shops in Ventura; visit Ojai or Santa Barbara nearby or just enjoy the beach a short walk away!Wonderfully located in peaceful neighborhood. Enjoy 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 car garage, and a short walk to the beach! There are several bikes for guest use w/ helmets and bike lock. Large outdoor space with BBQ GAS grill and firepit. Wi-Fi, SMART TV w/ DVR, DVD Player, a ton of movies to enjoy! The entire home is for guests use.... includes 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, Full kitchen/dining room, living room, laundry, 2 car garage, huge back deck, bikes for guest use, and more! I am available 24/7. Quiet and peaceful. People walking their dogs and jogging to the beach. It is quiet and friendly people. Gorgeous walk to the beach. Car is recommended for staying here. The home is cozy and has ALL you need to enjoy your stay. Washer and Dryer, toys, beach chairs and sand toys for kids! High Chair, pack and play, baby gates-Great for families! No parties or events...Please be considerate of the neighbors and follow house rules. Use common sense and be respectful. We have a pack n play, high chair and some baby gates too. We arrived to a warm and inviting home. While it was bigger than we expected as there were just two of us it had everything we needed for a relaxing and welcoming stay. Quiet neighborhood, and Close to the beach which is what we really wanted. Easy access and communication with owners. Highly recommend.

Nice neighborhood and comfortable accommodations. Barbecue grill and fire pit need a little attention, but overall a nice time.

The house is well-laid out and works well as a base for family dining, entertainment and sleeping. The beach is 100 meters away across a busy road, but it's a great sandy expanse and worth the short walk. Plenty of places to eat and shop within a 15-minute drive.
There's not much going on in Oxnard, but the location is close to more scenic spots such as Ojai and Santa Barbara.

Loved the house and the location. The back yard was amazing. Couple of things that would have helped are more toilet paper and trash bags.
My son fixed the screen door in the downstairs bedroom as the mesh was completely separated. He also fixed the outside water faucet that was leaking.
We enjoyed the vacation and will be back.

The Dunes Hideaway was the perfect home away from home! It has everything you’d need for your stay and Janna was readily available to answer any questions. It was a gloomy and rainy weekend during our stay, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. my teenage kids enjoyed the bikes and being able to paint rocks, and the living room with the comfy couch was perfect for enjoying a lazy night in with the smell of the ocean air.
The location is great! Overall, I would definitely come back next time we are in town visiting family.

Came for a few days to visit family in the area and this was a great spot. Close to the beach and easy to get to. Comfortable bed. Good wifi for when we needed to get work done. Loved that we could park our rental car in the garage. Would return.

Nice property and super nice view out back. We were there for a family wedding and had a great time! The access to the back patio area is through one of the bedrooms....so not ideal but still really nice. And the beds in the one bedroom are small...but good. The beds were comfortable and the upstairs layout was great just not super big. Great convenient location by Ventura and Oxnard! Thanks!

Janna made the check in process very easy. The house is comfortable and the neighborhood is quite. There are bikes to use and the backyard is really inviting. We enjoyed our stay and it was perfect for our family.

Great central location to visit Channel Islands
We enjoyed our stay. Great central location to visit the Channel Islands as we cruised from both the Oxnard and Ventura harbor. We liked being close to the beach but for our kids we we drove to other beaches because the surf was strong. The house had plenty of options for sleeping and it was for sure the best bed/sheets I’ve ever had in a vacation home. The weather got cold so after the beach one day we all curled up on the big comfy couch and watched a movie. We had the best time.

2 blocks from the beach! Plenty of room for us and the fur kids. It was a great base for us to do all our visiting from.
We lived nearby for 20 years and it was just what we were looking for, looking forward to staying again.

We enjoyed our stay here. The only reason this is not a 5 star stay is two fold. We wished for a nicer view than sand dunes behind us. .. so know that first. And the kitchen was not well equipped for cooking in. Which is what we wanted to do. Other than that and a very high bed, don't look elsewhere... just be aware.

Comfy and homey beach house
Very nice. Clean. Kitchen fully stocked, except we couldn’t find a toaster. Bikes we’re an added plus! So fun for the kids to ride to the beach! The only downside was the stairs were too much for the grandparents. Would be helpful if we knew earlier how steep they were. Thanks!

A fantastic stay!!
The house is beautiful - cozy and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and just a short distance to everything you could need. We really enjoyed our stay. We really enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset. We hope to be back soon!

The counters were stained and peeling, the porcelain sink had multiple chips and the cabinet doors did not close (latch). The condition of the kitchen did not give us a good feeling that the place was highly maintained.There were six pages of house rules of which some should have been taken care of the cleaning crew (i.e., strip bed sheets and start washer. Never had to do this with other VRBO listings.). Taking care of the trash and recycling bins was also an issue as there was no labeling of them. Had to call Owner to figure which ones belonged to the place. If guests are responsible for some cleaning why the large cleaning fee? The images on VRBO were bright and inviting but, in reality, the place was dark and dreary. Location was convenient for a quiet relaxing vacation but would not stay there again.

Well appointed home
The owner was great! Very responsive and had information all about the house and instructions for everything. My children loved playing in the sand in the backyard and I appreciated that it was completely fenced in.

One of the best equipped places I have stayed. Loved all the notes all over answering any questions you might have😉. Great location. Quiet neighborhood. Short nice walk to beach.

Great family house near the beach
This home was perfectly suited for our family needs on our recent trip to Ventura for a weekend wedding. We had 4 adults (my husband and I, our daughter and son-in-law, and 2 young granddaughters). The home was very comfortable, and had all necessary amenities. My granddaughters LOVED the bunk beds, and that bedroom was nicely appointed with books, games, toys, and some stuffed animals that the girls loved sleeping with! The beds in the other two bedrooms were very comfortable! The owners had bikes and sand toys, so all the girls took a short trip to the beach to play in the sand in the morning before the evening wedding. But I’d really like to recommend our host and homeowner Janna - without going into the specific details, I’d like to mention how accommodating she was to our special circumstances. She was friendly, helpful and prompt to respond. I definitely would recommend this property to anyone looking for a home to rent in this area!

Perfect home!
My cousins and I had a wo derdul time at this house! It was so cozy, with lots of sleeping room ad a perfect backyard for barbecuing and sharing a drink in the sand. 30 doors from the beach and a nice quiet neighborhood. JP is a wonderful host and we would definitely recommend this house to everyone! Thank you!!

Nice house with very quiet neighborhood
House was great fully equipped to handle our two families.
The only complain no black out shades/drapes in bedrooms I woke up with the sun on our face. Black out shades or curtains are very necessary for a complete rest.

Wedding Weekend
We stayed here and it was perfect for our family that was attending a wedding in Santa Paula. The place is well equipped and close to the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet. The only drawback would be no A/C as it was really warm and humid and the small fans did not help.

Fun
We stayed at the Beach House for a few days while my son moved into his new home. The house was clean, well-stocked and in a great location. It does state on the site that there is NO air conditioner and they did provide 3 fans, but we were there during a heat wave. I purchased 2 more fans. I would stay here again, but not in July.

Great beach trip!
We stayed for 2 nights with our kids and had a really wonderful trip! The house was clean and had everything we needed from a colander to a baby gate for the stairs. We really enjoyed the living room with the sliding doors that brought in a wonderful breeze. The beach is about a 2 minute drive away (and free parking!), but definitely walkable if you don't have kids, a wagon, a cooler and two beach bags with you. Will likely return next time we look to get away to the beach for a few days!
