The Oldest Stone Home in New Hope, Pa. Built in 1743
About this house rental
Located in New Hope, this charming house for $560 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Enjoy the beauty of Bucks County while sleeping in the oldest home in New Hope. It is a Historic landmark, located on the banks of the Delaware River. Located right in town, so you can walk anywhere in New Hope, or cross the bridge and you're in Lambertville, NJ. The house has all the charm of the 1700's, but has been updated for your enjoyment. There are fireplaces in both bedrooms, as well as the family room and living room. At this time, the fireplaces cannot be used, they are not working. The house is a perfect "get away" for a long weekend or vacation lasting weeks. The house works well for four people, but you can put a child on the sofa bed in the family room. Since the house is located right in the middle of town, there can be noise from the businesses on the block at night. If you are looking for a quite holiday, my house will not work well for you. If you want to be able to walk to restaurants, bars, the Play house as well as crossing the bridge into Lambertville, then my house will work well for you. Each of the bedrooms have comfortable bed with views to the river. The family room has the "Lazyboy" for those afternoons of just lazying around and enjoying the sounds of the river. You are a 20 minute ride to Princeton, and New York City is a little over an hour away by train. But remember, you do not have to leave the area. New Hope and Lambertville have numerous antique stores and of course the famous flea markets. There are many charming restaurants that you can walk to and the walking trails are just at the end of the block.. Keywords: Home

This was the 3rd time we have enjoyed this property. It is like getting to spend a night in a museum, and it was perfectly central to everything in New Hope. On a wintery day, it was a warm and cozy refuge and an easy home base for short walks to restaurants and shops. The property owner is very nice and very responsive. We will be staying here again for sure.

We absolutely loved this property. We had parking for our stay. The host communicated and left instructions out. Charming stone house in the middle of town. We walked to everything. The playhouse was across the street and visible from the fenced in backyard. All the restaurants were across street or next door. We had a lovely time. Great place to visit!

We enjoyed every minute! Loved the character of the home! Immaculate! Great linens and slept like a baby! The kitchen had everything that we needed! Great places to relax and just read a book. We didn’t need our car the entire time. Great restaurants literally steps away! Beautiful walking trails. Barbara truly made our stay so comfortable and was the perfect host! Can’t wait to return!
Such a beautiful area! Bucks County is amazing ! So much to do or not do! You will have everything that you need on this gorgeous retreat !!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic gem right smack in the middle of New Hope! Note that this is an older home therefore be prepared to be a bit careful on the slightly narrow windy stairs etc --none of which bothered us in the least! Lots to walk to ( you won't go hungry or thirsty no matter your wont), including nearby Lambertville. The house has upstairs and downstairs living spaces with TVs and comfy sitting areas with modern touches (wifi and streaming channels are a nice option). Beds were comfy too and extra linens and towels were easy to find. Barbara and her assistant were super responsive and helpful when contacted before and during our stay. We hope to be back! Thank you!!

Wonderful stay in best possible New Hope location in 1743 stone house. And no, unfortunately, it wasn't really haunted!

The home was great, just as advertised, within walking distance to just about everything. As warned, it was loud on that street at night. Not so much that we couldn't sleep. The only issue we had was getting the living room gas fireplace lit. The only way we had to reach the owner was via email which is not convenient. We did end up figuring it out on our own as we weren't easily reaching the owner. Other than that, our stay was great, and we'd stay there again.

My 2 adult daughters and I loved our stay at the Van Sant house. It is spacious, very comfortable and was loaded and decorated with lots vintage charm and antiques. The location could not be more perfect. We unloaded our car upon arrival, parked it in spot provided up the street and never used our car until we checked out. We walked everywhere! This historical home has been updated with all the modern conveniences while leaving the charm…it has updated heating system, plumbing, bathrooms, flat screen tv with plenty of viewing options, fast wifi / internet, great hot water supply…& updated appliances. The kitchen was well equipped with all the basic needs. The beds, couch all very cozy and comfortable. We loved using the fireplace in the living room…it’s a great room to hang out. The mentioned ‘noise’ on the street was not a problem for us and it did not happen late at night. We loved our stay and will definitely be back! Thank you Barbara for offering this beautiful unique, historical home for us to experience and make fine memories.

We REALLY enjoyed our stay. The owner was very accessible and responsive. The location is amazing and the house offered everything we needed. If traveling with children, be warned, our 11 year olds were a bit scared, they did not have appreciation for the property age or the paranormal references in the guest book. The moms loved it!

Spent a beautiful weekend in New Hope. The house is centrally located so we parked the car and walked everywhere. We loved the charm of the house and how it was decorated. The outdoor patio was great for morning coffee and planning the day.

New Hope is awesome and this is the best location possible. Very clean with backyard to sit and have some drinks.
We will be back for sure.

Such an amazing, historical home full of antiques. So much space to spread out and a great little backyard right in the center of New Hope. My only tip is do not bring more than one car. While this fabulous place comes with one parking permit, it’s very tough to find overnight parking if your group arrives separately. Other than that, we had a great time and would be so happy to return. Owner was very responsive to all questions!

This is the second time I have stayed at this property and both times were excellent the historical aspect of the home and the close proximity to all. When I return to new hope it will be my first choice to stay.

This was our first time to New Hope. We just loved the Van Sant House. Beautiful historic charm with quaint little quirks. The fireplaces were so inviting. Loved that we could bring our family dog and the fenced in courtyard out back was perfect! Cannot beat the location!! Right in the middle of town where you can walk to everything in just minutes. We enjoyed exploring the town and taking in the river views at several waterfront restaurants. So much to explore, we cannot wait to return!! Thank you for a wonderful place to stay in such a charming town.

Wonderful old house in the center of New Hope. Unusual in that the kitchen was on the second floor. Owner very responsive. Would highly recommend.

The house is very charming. The set up is perfect for two couples, especially during COVID. Two living areas, generous bedrooms, and separate baths make maintaining social distance easy. The location is amazing, literally right in the prime of New Hope, right across Main Street from the Bucks County Play House. A little noisy during the day due to street traffic, but not bad. Noise was not an issue for sleeping. You can leave your car for the weekend and walk everywhere is New Hope and Lambertville. We loved it and highly recommend.

I cannot say enough good about this rental. The location was more than ideal- right smack in the middle of downtown New Hope, walkable to everything. I would recommend this for visitors who like to take advantage of New Hope's night life, and most especially for those interested in historical building and local lore. We rented this for a quiet bachelorette weekend, for a bride who LOVES old places and the stories that go with them- she spent an hour going through the home and appreciating it's history. We walked next door for dinner, across the street for drinks and brunch, and in either direction for entertainment and shopping. Absolutely stay here if you can!

Location was great but the layout of the home was difficult to get around . I did not realize the age of the home would present challenges for our group of mature ladies. Parking required a bit more walking than I understood. The history of the home and town was very interesting and enjoyed.
