Island Sunset Villa is located in a residential neighborhood. Please respect our neighbor’s privacy. Quiet hours are between 9:00 pm and 8:00 am. Amplified sound is not permitted at any time. 1. Smoking is NOT allowed in the house or within 20 feet downwind outside only. 2. People other than those in the Guest party set forth above may not stay overnight on the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest. 3. The owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise. 4. Keep the property and all furnishings in good order 5. Only use appliances for their intended uses 6. Pets are not allowed. 7. Parking: Guests may park on the circle drive or under the carport. There are multiple parking spaces on the concrete drive. You must park on the property. 8. Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. Bath towels should remain in the house. Beach towels are provided for the beach. 9. Water and Septic: The house has a cesspool. It is not connected to county sewer. The system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER. No feminine products, tissues, or wipes of any kind should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that improper materials or products have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages. 10. Storms: No refunds will be given due to weather.

We stayed at Char's house for the week of Christmas. She and her son were very responsive and came over to give us a tour of the house and answer any questions. Char also kindly let us borrow a Christmas tree so we could have a proper Christmas. The house itself waqs lovely and warm, especially with all the windows. We really felt like we were part of the environment. The stars at night were also amazing.

Lovely home near Kula. Architect of the home is great. Love the farm vibe and the out house. Amazing night views for star watching. Owners clearly care about this home and your visit by making sure it is well stocked for one’s stay. This place is great for families.

Trying to figure out where to start here. Everything was wonderful!
The hostess communicated daily and checked in with us. She even stopped in at the property to show us around and explain how things work. They pick fruit there on the property, and she was kind enough to leave us a couple of different Hawaiian fruits to try. When we were leaving, she was on the property working, and she walked over and helped us load our suitcases in the car. Seriously, she went so far above and beyond what we would have ever expected.
As far as the house, it was perfect for our family of five. Spacious, lots of shelves and storage in bathrooms, bedrooms, and main living spaces.
The views were awesome. Off the front of the house you look in the distance at the ocean and the mountains. The property itself has a beautiful circle drive with ample parking, it is secluded off the main areas, and everything feels extremely safe.
Then there were just small touches that make everything better. The front lock has a code so you don’t have to remember to bring a key with you every time you leave. The beds have plugs right up above the nightstands so that you can plug in digital of devices, without having to search for outlets. There were beach towels and chairs for our family to use. A washer and dryer was there that was stocked with detergent.

The property offered alot of privacy and space. The rooms gave a place to rest and unwind for every guest. Kitchen was well equiped and fed us every day including the out door grill . We would definitely go again .

We had an amazing stay at this property. The property itself is as described but what made it next level was the host’s responsiveness and flexibility. Crispin was super communicative throughout the stay and took plenty of time to help orient us during the check in. We had a significant flight delay on the way out and he let us stay until it was time for departure and rescheduled his cleaner to come later to prep the place for the next guest. The unit itself was clean, well apportioned and as described. We would definitely stay here the next time we visit.

We planned our stay for mid-September back in January and thought of cancelling or postponing our stay when the news of the Maui fires broke. Char told us everything was fine and we should follow through with our visit and we're happy we did.
The views to the west were amazing and the trees on and around the property smelled so good. There was plenty of room for our group of 6 with more than enough space for parking. The house had everything we needed in the kitchen as well as the rest of the house, it felt like our home for the week.
Crispin was fantastic and shared local places to visit. He was also very responsive for any requests we had if we needed something at the house. He said he and Char wanted to make our stay the best possible and they delivered!
Staying in the Upcountry was a good choice, away from some of the overdeveloped tourist areas, and there's a weekly farmer's a few minutes away on Saturday mornings. One thing to keep in mind is getting to most places takes at least 25 minutes, but traffic moves fairly well.

My wife and I, 3 adult children, and our 2 yr old grandson spent 6 nights at this wonderful property. Having been along the coast in Ka’anapali area twice before we decided to go upcountry. We were not disappointed. The home was beautiful, well laid out, well appointed, and made a perfect home base for going to Haleakala, the road to Hana, beaches, and just an overall different vibe from the typical beach touristy scene. We still traveled to the beaches on the northwest side to hit some favorite spots, just allowing a little extra time to get there.
Our host, Char, was super. She met us the day of arrival, gave us the tour and layout, and checked on us periodically to see how we were doing. She certainly has thought of most everything you might need for an enjoyable vacation.
We particularly enjoyed the west facing lanai for evening sunsets and ocean views while relaxing after long days out and about.

This private, secluded retreat was the ideal central location for good friends to vacation together and explore this tropical paradise. It took a few days to relax from our "other lives" but we soon felt the aloha spirit and became fully immersed in island life and all the beauty and warmth Maui has to offer. Kula is a quiet agricultural community with one of the best Farmer's Markets on the island most Saturday mornings.
It is very easy to feel at home here and it fully lives up to its name "Island Sunset Villa". The sunsets are truly memorable, sleeping is effortless with the trade winds circulating cool breezes throughout the the villa all night, and the mornings are delightful as you are greeted by a cacophony of bird songs.
The villa lives up to its descriptions in all respects and the kitchen was wonderful - complete with all the essentials for meal preparation, and plenty of room for many cooks! We loved the tropical orchard and flowers surrounding the villa. The home was clean and tastefully furnished and was well stocked with beach gear and fins for snorkeling.

Our week long stay was simply amazing!! The home was clean, with spacious rooms, and plenty of windows to enjoy the air circulating the home, in the morning and evenings after a long day out exploring! All appliances, big and small, worked! There’s plenty of kite men gadgets and utensils to cook a meal at home! We loved that the home was fully equipped with everything we needed during our stay! Lots of beach chairs, towels, and water gears for the family!! Char is an excellent host and communicated with us during our entire stay at the villa! Super sweet and kind, and going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable!! Simply the best and memorable experience!

This home is as described in the listing. My wife and mother-in-law had a wonderful stay. The house is spacious, the view off the downslope of the Maui valley and the West Maui Mountains is spectacular, and one morning we had a glorious orange sunrise looking up at Haleakala. Char is a great host, and will answer any questions you have about the home. The home is also convenient to start the trek up Haleakala or the road to Hana. You have to pick up a chocolate haupia cream pie down the road at the Pukalani Superette - it is wonderful. I hope to return in the future and stay a bit longer.

Wonderful, comfortable property in the middle of the island. The views were amazing. Everyday we sat outside on the gorgeous patio and had cocktails. It was very relaxing and was a great place for a group of adult friends to stay at. We had 3 adult couples and it was absolutely the best value around. Char was am amazing host and responded promptly with any (and they were tiny) issues we may have had. Absolutely LOVED IT!

We had the most amazing stay at Char’s home in upcountry Maui. We specifically chose this location to experience this side of the island, including activities throughout the summit of Haleakala. The house is spacious and absolutely stunning. It had everything we needed - a fully stocked kitchen, swimming gear, a bbq and lots of outdoor space for the kids to play. Char was a great host, promptly answered any questions we had, and provided a playpen and high chair for our baby. There was a lovely French bakery less than a 5 minute drive from the property - get there early as it gets busy and they will run out of pastries! The closest beach is only a 15 minute drive, which is a great trade off to stay in the serenity of upcountry Maui. The only thing I would like to recommend is that the listing shows more clearly all the steps inside the house. There are quite a few (entryway, hallway, master bedroom, master bathroom), and not all are shown in the listing. They are small stairs (3 steps), but if you have young children learning to walk (as we did), it can be a bit nerve wracking, as it is all on tile flooring; it could also be an issue for those with mobility restrictions. All in all, it was an amazing property, and we would absolutely stay here again should we come back to Maui.

New experience
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. The location was incredible. In all of our years of traveling to Maui we had never stayed in the up-country of the island. The climate is quite different--cooler nights and mornings and a bit drier--much less humidity. The home is lovely and we were all comfortable with the space--rooms were comfortable and have the capability of having a/c although we never needed it with the cool nights. My only issue was the fact that the property badly needed TLC. Many things were run-down, weathered and a bit dirty and the garden around the home itself was a bit neglected. It simply needs a bit of care to get it back to what i would consider a 5 star property. Otherwise our family trip was wonderful at this property.

Great spaces for indoor and outdoor relaxation. Beautiful house. Very roomy for 3 couples. Great views and sunsets. Didn’t need the A/c with the wonderful breezes passing through the house. Lots of interesting outdoor wildlife. Kitchen is well equipped. All house fixtures are high end. Highly recommend.

An Upcountry Oasis
We were looking for a place to stay in Kula while visiting family. This property was PERFECT for our group. It was spacious and well thought out with lots of indoor/outdoor areas such as the dining and living room. The master bedroom and bath was big and very relaxing when we wanted our own space away from the group.
Our kids loved that it was a working farm, as they could check out the different plants in the yard. There were a few goats next door that they liked to go and see and the neighbor let them feed. One note, don’t pick the fruits, as they are meant to be harvested and sold at local markets.
The other guest rooms were perfect and each had their own sliding patio doors to walk out, with some chairs just outside to enjoy nature and your morning cup of coffee.
The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our daily meals and was very spacious and easy to navigate while multiple people were helping with cooking, dishes, etc.
Overall we loved the house and would absolutely stay here again. Check in was easy and although Char was off island, Carol who was our POC was great with communication and made our stay a breeze. I highly recommend this house to get away from the usual resorts in Maui. Look forward to staying there again soon.
