We are seasoned world travellers and have stayed in many vacation rentals. This property was exceptionally clean - which we really appreciate.
In addition Donald and Marilyn were excellent communicators and got back to us promptly with any question we had.
All in all - the house fit our family of four perfectly, and we will happily return.

February Vacation
We enjoyed the property being on a quite street and easy to navigate other areas. The new kitchen cabinets, counter tops, and flooring were very nice. The house was clean, spacious and well supplied. The owners were excellent in providing information. I would recommend this property to anyone. Thanks for sharing your house with us.

I agree with the review from Jim A. in Feb 2016. Many items are still subpar while not being fixed or replaced almost a year later in Jan 2017, i.e. - Screen door, electric, outdoor furniture, sheets and bathrooms. I did consider the issues he stated but thought, how bad can it really be while so many others left good reviews. So, we rented.
As the renter and abiding to the rental agreement, I reported the following items along with other “conditions” according to the section under “Conditions of the Premises” to the owners:
Electric - not up to code - exposed wiring inside and outside the property (especially in the “swag lights”).
Kitchen – no room for vacationer’s food, all cabinets full with the owner’s food, dishes and cookware.
Windows – were open and unlocked upon first entering house – unsafe conditions in an unknown house.
Bikes – dirty, dusty and flat tires – yes there is a pump, but why aren’t they ready to go?
Garage – unusable for us as it had a car in it and full of the owner’s tools and belongings. They offered for us to move the car ourselves. We didn’t due to the flat tires on the car.
The owners initially were friendly and responsive. However, I guess they didn’t like the things I had to report because they told me that these items were “trivial” and then proceeded to give me a low guest rating.
Consider staying elsewhere, the location doesn’t compensate for this subpar property.

This lovely family home was completely equipped and comfortable for my siblings and I to just relax and enjoy California and each other. We definitely appreciated the full kitchen and outside eating area. The house was clean and in good repair. The owners were friendly and helpful. Thanks for making our reunion a success.

The house is breath taking and the owners were very quick at responding and checking in on everything! The house was so clean and well kept! Great Family Vacation
My husband and I just spent a week with our 4 adult children at this lovely location. We were so pleased with the house located right above the lagoon on a quiet cul de sac. The weather was unusually hot for the time of year but the breezes in the evening were very cool. The property was well kept and the owners were wonderful. We found the location to be perfect for any activity you choose either in San Diego or Los Angeles as it sits between the two places. Close to the beach and easy access to shopping with minimal traffic. We had a great time and would definitely return to this property again.

Great location, wonderful backyard, comfortable home
We had a great time in Carlsbad, this home was in a very quiet neighborhood, the view from backyard was great, the house had everything we needed. Our bed was very comfortable and the kids loved the pool table. The house is very nicely decorated with nicknacks and pictures of a typical california beach Wagon, with the real thing in the garage. My only recommendation to owners is to put a light switch in for light above pool table so we don't have to crawl under a table to pull plug out of outlet. Also, couple of windows in bedrooms were dripping water on inside during our last day when the big rain storm hit southern california. I informed owner and he was going to repair when they returned in March. I would stay again if I go back to Carlsbad. Thanks for the use of the home

Great Neighborhood, Great House, Great View!
Our family was relocating to the Carlsbad area & at the last minute found out our new house was not ready. Marilyn was so understanding & accommodating & allowed us to rent the house for a week without knowing much about us. We have two small children, 2 yrs old & a 4 month old baby and could not bare the idea of staying in a hotel for a week.
Upon arrival, the house was very clean and charming. The owners decorated the house with all sorts of souveniers and vacation findings throughout their years, which added a nice warmth and personal touch to the house. Each room has plenty of extra sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, etc. We didn't need to pull out any of our own items, which was very much appreciated considering all of our stuff was in a moving truck.
Our 2 year old loved playing in the backyard, although if you have small children, you will have to watch them closely, as there are a lot of items they would love to get their little hands on. It's not exactly equipped for small children like we had, but given they were just a little older, it would be no problem. We used the BBQ in the evenings & my husband loved to stare out a the view while cooking up our dinner. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed.
I would definitely pass along Marilyn & Don's information to friends or family who needed a cute place to stay in Carlsbad. We enjoyed our stay & are so appreciative for the owner's accommodations on such short notice.

Nice house
The house was clean, well maintained and a great location for our visit. Close to LegoLand, the beach, shopping, the Coaster rail and the freeway. Has a great view and outdoor patio. I would stay at the property again if I am in the area. I would recommend the property to friends or relatives. The owners were very helpful and prompt with refunding the deposit.

Fabulous place to relax!
Best vacation spot ever! Clean, well stocked house. The back yard makes you feel like you are at a resort. Just need to bring your suitcase and you are set for your stay. Close to beach, outlet shopping and dining.

Convenient, comfortable and relaxing stay
My family (2 adults, 3 children under the age of 11) was in town for a high school graduation and family vacation. The house was perfect for our needs, and the owner was accommodating and a pleasure to work with. We had more than ample room, everything was generally provided for in the house, and the location was perfect (i.e. neighborhood, grocery stores, access to major roads, beach and attractions etc.). The house truly served as our refuge from the busy/fun activities of the day. We would most definitely arrange another stay the next time we our in Carlsbad/San Diego.

My family and I were here for my son's wedding in La jolla and could not have been more pleased with this beautiful home with the gorgeous breath taking views. The house was comfortable and offered all amenities one could possibly need. The owners were extremely accommodating and friendly, I really hope to have the opportunity to lease their home again in the future. Awesome experience! : )
