Waterfront! Hot Tub! Nearby Sandy Beach! The Orca Beach Hideaway is a private waterfront 3 bedroom home with expansive views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This secluded San Juan Island home offers a hot tub, a nearby trail head to a beautiful sandy beach (rare in the San Juan Islands), a large grassy yard and wrap around deck, a wood burning stove, and a ping pong table. The special location of this house offers an amazing view spot for the local wildlife. Guests can also enjoy the hot tub (serviced professionally on a weekly basis), the large yard, and provided yard games. You'll enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets, and possibly experience whales swimming by, which is almost daily during the summer months! The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and a gas Viking range. The kitchen is open to the dining and living room with large windows looking out to the sea. The main level of the home has 2 bedrooms each furnished with queen size beds. The upstairs primary suite is furnished with a queen size bed and has a balcony with water views as well as an adjoining primary bathroom. There is also a crib and toddler bed available upstairs for those with young children. The lower level of the home offers entertainment - ping pong table and flat screen television with a Smart TV and Roku. There is a sleeper -sofa located in the lower level as well. This home also offers wireless internet. This is a wonderful family vacation home; however, parents please take caution of the steep terrain at the end of the large grassy yard. Orca Beach Hideaway is located next to a unique island beach (Eagle Cove) which is great for swimming, sunbathing, skim boarding, and paddle boarding. Firewood is provided in off season. The hot tub is serviced professionally on a weekly basis. Pets are not allowed at this property. This house has fair cell phone reception. The Wi-fi at this property is adequate for making calls on your personal cell. This home also has a landline. The internet / Wi-fi at this house should be sufficient for streaming video, phone calls, remote work and video conferencing. We had a family gathering for my mother's 90th birthday, and the home was a perfect fit for us. We had plenty of room for 7-8 people, a good sized kitchen for making big dinners, the nearby cove to explore on walks, and great views to enjoy all day. We also got to see the resident fox and otter!

Sincerely appaled by the positive reviews for this property. I'll be the first to say it, then: this home is a dirty overpriced disappointment.
We knew this was an older home/ikea rental situation and chose to book it for the view. Everything was wiped down and serviceable, but considering the exorbitant cleaning fee, we expected a nicer stay. Everything felt a bit grimy and neglected. Baseboards peeling from walls with dust and bits of dead bugs, chipping and stained furniture, etc. The master bath jets were caked with mystery green grime, so no bath for baby.
The house has no AC and one small slow ceiling fan. The master bedroom sliding door is inoperable so cooling down the upstairs is impossible in the evening. The house is in full sun all day, beware if you are booking during any weather above 75.
The view is the best part, but trying to keep the house cool means window curtains drawn. The only outdoor furniture is two adirondak chairs, and they were so overgrown with grass and weeds they were unusable. The lawn was studded with spiky weeds and huge balls of lawn trimmings were dried and matted everywhere.
The driveway entrance is overgrown so we couldn't safely pull our truck camper in to park without taking out huge branches.
The host/company has a list of chores to do before you leave, absolutely greedy given how high the cleaning fee is. The dishes smelled foul.
We would not stay here again, given the price with the cleaning fee we expected much better.

We loved the location, within walking distance for hikes and beaches.The yard was large, the hot tub was terrific, hot and ready all the time. The kitchen was very well equipped. We saw orca whales swimming by the house. Two different fox came to visit in the evenings. We took full advantage of all the area has to offer: a short drive to both Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor to wander through the town and have something to eat, the Alpaca Farm, a whale watching tour and more. The house itself had plenty of room for our family of 6. We stayed a week, it was a wonderful experience!

Perfect Family Island Getaway

We had a wonderful time here. The house was clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and even had a really well seasoned cast iron skillet that was a joy to use. In other reviews, people mentioned the sparse decor, but for a family with small children, this was absolutely perfect. The house has a spectacular view and they have a telescope and binoculars there to use. We had a great time checking out the stars and the wildlife. While we were there we saw sea lions, a bald eagle family, and a whale! The property is right next door to eagle cove beach which was incredible. The path leading down to the water isn’t paved but was definitely manageable for our 2 year old and 3 year old. Overall, I’d highly recommend a stay here and we hope to be back in the future!

Beautiful property, beautiful views. Looked just like the photos. The house fit our group of 6 just fine. 2 nights was perfect. My only complaints are the check in time in late and check out time is early, 4 PM and 10 AM (10 AM check out is a little too early!). And, the over the top extra fees that the rental agency and house owner charges. $300 cleaning fee. $150 non-refundable damage waiver fee. $150 pandemic cleaning fee, $600 in total fees just to clean the house for a two night stay was in short, insane. Really nice stay though.

We spent a few days at this quiet, spacious house in early April. The house is clean and well cared for, and is stocked with everything we needed for our short stay. I particularly enjoyed the solitude and proximity to the beach. The views are spectacular and the hustle of Friday Harbor is close but not too close. I can't wait to spent time here again!

I fell for this property online. The views are breathtaking. The beach next door is so fun to comb over. The American Camp next door provides endless paths to walk on. The house itself is lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the ping pong table and jacuzzi. We even got a sighting of the beautiful red fox with the big bushy tail who came by the house looking for a little breakfast. Truly a treat and a home i would return to.

A bit Spartan but fabulous views. Practically no decoration in a huge home. Would have benefitted from directions on how to use the propane stove downstairs. Well equipped except for no TV on the main or second floors. Photos show a spotting scope but not there.

Hot tub not functional. Deck and railing are not entirely safe. Kitchen well equipped. Beds average, king bed in master preferred.

COVID-19 Family Getaway
We loved our stay! The property had everything we needed and the kitchen was well stocked. Loved that we could walk down to the beach! So glad that there was plenty of room for all of us since the smoke rolled in and it wasn't healthy to be outdoors. Lots of poker was played at the dining room table. We would definitely stay here again!

The house was great and worked well for 3 couples and 2 infants. There was plenty of space for us and was a cozy place to be on a wet and stormy day. The view was wonderful from the big windows. Nice that it was close to the American Camp and a beach--on the clear day we took walks to those 2 places. The only problem we had was that firewood at the house was wet and burned only with a roaring fire going.

Great vacation house
Very nice and spacious home with a great view. Worked very well for three couples and 2 infants. It would have been nice to know that shoes are not allowed in the house so everyone knew to pack slippers or house shoes. The firewood at the house was so wet that it was unusable unless you had a roaring fire.

Great place for long family weekend
Had a wonderful stay with a multigenerational family group. Plenty of room for everyone, great views even if the weather wasn’t too good. Appreciated the proximity to town and information at the house for things to do and local hikes. Wildlife everywhere, a very friendly fox showed up many times along with a sea otter and deer in the backyard. We kept looking for whales but didn’t see any over the weekend. Management company was very helpful in getting us a rental high chair and early access so our granddaughter could nap, we really appreciated it! Great weekend!

Amazing house in perfect location
House was exactly as pictured. Location was even better than imagined. Far enough away from the busy “downtown” area to feel completely secluded. Close enough to drive to for dinner. Saw orcas from the living room with the provided binoculars! Hot tub was awesome and completely private. We hope to be back. Wish checkout was just a bit later than 10am but literally the only “con”.

My wife and I rented this house for a vacation with my two oldest children and their families (3 pre-teen boys). The house was even better than described and was a perfect place for a getaway. We were able to enjoy daily walks down to Eagle Cove Beach and to American Camp, and then relax in the hot tub in the evening. The big surprise for us were the foxes! It was amazing to get a chance to view them up close! We really enjoyed our first visit to San Juan Island and plan on coming back.

Great Memories
Great property with amazing views and all of the amenities. Perfect for a family gathering with three pre-teens (though I would not recommend it for children younger than 6). We created a lot of new memories.

This was an amazing property. We enjoyed wildlife every day, daily visit from a little fox, deer, and eagles. We also saw baby fox in the area. We hiked in both the American and English camps, views were spectacular. We bought fish at the market in Friday Harbor and cooked every night. The weather was perfect. It was hard to leave.
