Welcome to Villa Tropical Orchid, a serene escape perfect for a couple or single traveler. This exquisite, top floor villa, vaulted ceilings is a one bedroom/one bathroom with shower. Therapeutic Spa / Hot Tub magical moments for your mind and body. Sink into the hot tub after a fun day at the ocean, hiking and make a toast to the sunset. Spectacular ocean views from the Hot Tub. The bedroom is appointed with a hand-carved mahogany, queen, four poster bed, with a vanity sink, seating area and direct access to the veranda. The living area offers a comfortable seating area, and fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher. If desired there is air conditioning. However, the trade winds offer an airy, cool breeze if you prefer not to use the air conditioning. Just ask.... I live on site and I will arrange a MASSAGE on your veranda overlooking the Ocean. A BOAT TRIP, FISHING TRIP, SNORKEL TRIP, PRIVATE SNORKEL LESSONS, A DAY OF GOLF, JET SKIES, BEST DINNING ON THE ISLAND. HORSEBACK RIDING ON THE OCEAN and UP INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF ST JOHN. Villa Tropical Orchid has a veranda that overlooks the hills with spectacular ocean views facing South towards Saint Croix, the islands of Frenchman's Cap and Little St James. In addition, there is a private patio with a BBQ Grill located off the kitchen. I have provided for you: Beach towels, Beach Chairs, cooler, float noodles, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. After a day at the beach and exploring the island, sit back, enjoy your favorite beverage and breathe in the sights of the ocean from your private patio. This Villa is for two adults only, not appropriate for children. This is a non-smoking facility. We are located only 1.2 miles from the town of Cruz Bay and about 5 minutes to the North Shore beaches. St. John is known for the 4-wheel drive Jeeps. We drive on the LEFT and fun driving up and down roads, around curves at slow speeds of 20 to 30 miles per hour. Getting to your villa is easy with paved roads and the private off-street parking access is flat terrain. If you prefer to not rent a car, taxi's are ready at the ferry dock to take you up the hill to your Villa. Travel by taxi is easy once on the island, no need to rent a car. Telephone numbers of taxi drivers are posted in your studio. Beautiful beaches are easy to access and within minutes from your Villa. The closest beaches and ocean front dining is a short drive down the hill to Cruz Bay. The cozy villa sits high above Great Cruz Bay with stunning views. We prepared breakfasts and lunches in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed sitting on the porch overlooking the bay, welcoming occasional visits from hummingbirds and bananaquits. Host communicated well and was available for inside information about the island.

- Refrigerator had used bottles of ketchup, mustard, along with an unlabeled bottle containing ‘white’ liquid.

She met us at the car ferry so we could follow her to the villa. Balcony views from the rental were oustanding, proximity to Cruz Bay was really nice, but far enough away to be very peaceful. 100% recommended!

Last minute getaway
My wife and I booked a last minute trip to St. John. Jacqueline and her daughter were extremely helpful and welcoming hosts that were always available to answer questions about the property or the island itself. Property has a great view and location about a half mile up Centerline Road from the town of Cruz Bay. Great property and location for any couple looking for a quiet getaway to paradise.

Wonderful hostess and gorgeous views
This is a beautiful and well located property if you want to be near Cruz Bay but away from the bustle. The views and cross breezes are stunning. Jackie is a superb host who is super knowledgeable. The property has several apartments in the complex and we stayed in her original home. Each is well maintained and private. Everything is easy access. Perfect for a couple on holiday. Thanks so much Jackie for sharing your home with us.

We loved our stay at Villa Tropical Orchid. The Villa is located in the hills above Cruz Bay so we enjoyed spectacular views in a peaceful private setting, yet just a few minutes drive to downtown Cruz Bay for restaurants , bars, shops, etc. A great location and easy to see the love that Jacqueline, the owner puts into her home and how she prides herself in making the experience a great one for her guests - including fresh flowers to welcome us. Nice touch. We especially loved relaxing on the deck while being entertained by the many pretty birds, and absorbing the views of Great Cruise Bay and beyond. Just lovely.The Villa has ample dressers and storage space to really settle in and feel at home, and importantly for me, good lighting for bedside reading. My husband had a little trouble with the TV, but we weren't there to watch TV! We would stay there again.

This is the perfect villa for St John. We loved everything about it. Jacqueline was lovely and helpful, too! We are regulars to the island so we didn't need alot of input but she is right back to you if you need her. It did have the most options for rentals and food, as well as bathrooms and showers. Maho Bay was a really great option for Sea Turtle and Stingray sightings. They also had some great food options across the street at Maho Crossroads, as well as a tiki bar. As an added bonus, there was live music the two days we visited.

Fabulous Stay
Island living is not the same as living on the mainland so renters need to adjust their expectations just a bit, but the location, view, villa, bed, amenities, everything was just wonderful!!!! Would definitely rent this location again.

Awesome stay
We had a great experience. The view can't be beat. Jackie was very sweet and so helpful. The island beaches always great. We enjoyed coffee on the Lanai daily. The tucked in cove gave us wonderful privacy along the hillside. We loved the alcove.

Nice apartment with a terrace overlooking the bay. Excellent bed.
On the terrace you must use bug spray.
Jacky picked us up and showed us the way to the apartment. All very efficient.

Best kept island secret
GET OUT OF THE BUBBLE! This is a great way to experience the Caribbean. The location is quiet and off the beaten path, but still close to town and beaches. Jacqueline knows all of the best kept secrets of the island and is a wonderful hostess.

Great little get-a-way for a couple
I found Jacque's place on Home Away (http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p283835) and it was just the perfect spot. It is close enough to town to be convenient, but not so close that you were in it. Had a great view of the harbor, the accommodations are perfect for a couple, and the Jacuzzi was the icing on the cake. She was very helpful but left us to our own to enjoy. I would highly recommend this rental and will be back!

Perfect for us for 18 years now.
My husband and I have stayed in the Tropical Orchids for 2 wks for 18 years now. Very quiet, private and a fabulous view. Jacqueline is a gracious host. In the tropics fresh water is a very precious resource and we respect that. We always look forward to our winter get

Not what we expected
We stayed at Tropical Garden at Island Rentals for 12 days in February, 2015
Pros: Private, isolated, seems secure, beautiful views, wonderful breezes, quality windows, sliding doors, screens exclude insects. Good cross ventilation. Beautiful comfortable bed & furniture. Mountainside location provides advantages/disadvantages. Lush flora, colorful birds (and bees!), like living in a tropical tree house. Very dark at night.
Cons: Limited water supply and very limited and tepid "hot" water combined with inadequate sewer system. A sign in the bathroom reads: "In this land of fun and sun, we don't flush for number one."
According to the owner, the site depends entirely upon rainwater stored in & pumped from a cistern. She suggests “navy style”showers: Water on get wet, off to shampoo, on for rinse, etc. No water during blackouts.
Be ready to haul your trash and unflushed odorous tissue up the stairs & transport out to public dumpsters daily.
When we arrived we found the floors had not been scrubbed, the flatware & tray were dirty, and the top of the fridge was filthy with kitchen grease and dust. There were bugs in the utensil holder & crawling on the counter tops. It was up to us to scrub the floor & boil water to sterilize the flatware.
Slippery and poorly lit or unlit stairways: Down two flights to entrance, down another to grill. Up 4th to hot tub.
No back-up power and no emergency lighting. Extremely small TV & cable service = 2-3 English language channels. WIFI is hit and miss. No dishwasher. Bedroom is cramped. No smoke or CO detectors on an island where fire fighting is a real challenge.

This little villa Tropical Garden was perfect for the two of us. Just as shown on the site everything was as described so we were just thrilled.
Views,views,views! and the villa tucked down and into the hillside was very private. It was truly a get away from it all experience. Beautiful views of Chocolate Hole, Great Cruz Bay with the early morning sun rise and a full afternoon sun. Jacqueline our host was wonderful. Offered tips for dining, shopping and activities. Also left us to ourselves for complete privacy yet reachable by phone for any needs we had. 1st time to St John for us, kids all grown up and just the two of us starting our lives alone again what a great beginning!!

Excellent villa and location
My husband and I stayed at Tropical Orchid for 7 days in March 2014. The villa is wonderful. Gorgeous views of Great Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole. We could see St Croix on clear days and the sunrises and sunsets were amazing. The villa had everything needed to make our stay comfortable - full kitchen, a hot tub, nice outdoor porch and off street parking. Short drive to town of Cruz Bay. We felt very safe. I can't say enough good things about St John. The people are friendly and fun and the island is beautiful! Jacqueline was a wonderful host. Can't wait to return.

Best Value on St John
My wife and I just stayed here for eight days. 'Just for 2' has all anyone could ask for when staying on St John: awesome view of Great Cruz Bay, comfortable Caribbean furnishings, complete kitchen, incredible & beautiful landscaping, attentive landlord, convenient location to Centerline and Southside Road and more. Ideal for honeymooners and couples of all ages. We will definitely be back. Thanks JP!
PS; We recommend Skinny Legs, Woody's Seafood, Lime Inn, Spyglass for very good and affordable drinks & meals. For snorkeling check out Hansen, Francis, Jumbie and Leinster Bays. Be on the lookout for deer, donkeys, land & sea turtles, goats, chickens and more.

Excellent Vacation Rental for rest & Relaxation
I would highly recommend this vacation rental for people who are looking for beautiful surroundings, rest and relaxation. The location was gorgeous as it overlooked Great Cruz Bay, St Thomas and the beautiful Caribbean Ocean. The rental was clean and secure and provided us with all the amenities we needed. The owner was wonderful, very accommodating and made us feel like part of the family. We had a great time and definitely would go back to St. John's and stay at this vacation rental again.

Views are awesome at the very top of Sunset Ridge though the location is a good 15 minutes by car and a good 30 minute walk from Cruz Bay. The road back up is very steep along Jacob's Ladder so it's difficult to go back up. If you run, it's a very challenging terrain. Bed is comfortable, views are truly awesome. Apartment needs to be updated, dust removed from frames, silk flowers, etc and pots and pans replaced (mish mash of leftover kitchen ware) as well. Jacqueline is wonderful, very helpful and a joy. Bring your own shampoo, etc.though there are hair dryers.
I don't believe I would recommend the property to a friend unless it were updated a bit. Also the distance is a bit of a nuisance as you need to plan your day so that you don't have to come up and down the mountain too many times. The place is very quiet though. Very relaxing.
Best sailing with Rick Smith, best restaurants were Asolare, Tapas, Ocean Grill. There are many great restaurants. Great scuba diving too with Cruz Bay. National Park Service hike is the best down to Reef Bay. Reserve before you go to St. John.
Have a great time in St. John, it's an awesome place with blue turquoise waters.
