Situated in Sterling, this charming condo for $259 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Pristine view and just few steps from fishing right off the bank of the famous Kenai River. This property is very conveniently located in the middle of the Kenai Peninsula. Just minutes away from the small town conveniences in Sterling such as restaurants, groceries, etc. This property is a great base accommodation for your whole Alaskan vacation. From halibut and salmon fishing to white water rafting to bird watching, guided or not, this is it! You could be just about any where on the Kenai Peninsula and do just about anything you can dream of with very little effort and minimal time frames. From the "Bears Den", you are 11 miles from the heart of Soldotna's busy town center or 22 miles to the city of Kenai if you want to visit those areas. Also you are 90 minutes away from Seward or 110 minutes away from Homer the other direction by car on the Kenai Peninsula. You will feel like you are in the wilds of Alaska and yet relaxed with natural beauty all around. The 145 feet of our private river bank front to fish off of with plenty of elbow room, view, or just relax and enjoy. There are 4 new daylight platform decks to fish and view from for ease and convenience. It also has picnic tables and benches, fire pit, fish cleaning table, and plenty of wild life to see. There is a your own full size freezer for your catch, satellite TV with a 55 inch HD flat screen, and wireless internet to stay in touch with. You will also have your own kitchenette for your fresh catch and for times you would rather just stay in. Also your own private newer washer and dryer for your convenience. Our one bedroom vacation rental, "Bears Den", has accommodation for 4 to 5 people. The vacation rental has queen size bed and 2 twin size bunk beds. There is a very large comfortable couch and a rollout bed if necessary to suit your needs. WE ALSO HAVE OUR WOLF DEN CABIN/BUNK HOUSE JUST STEPS AWAY TO ACCOMMODATE A LARGE FAMILY OR PARTY. These sleeping quarters come with a beautiful Kenai River view which will sleep 2 or 3 additional guests. This Wolf Den will not be available without the use of the Bears Den. This is because because the Wolf Den is a dry cabin without a bath or sink. It is warm, comfortable, and newly remodeled with a knotty pine interior and captain twin beds. It also has its own fridge and microwave and table and chairs for games and snacking. WI-FI, TV, AND INTERNET will be available. The "Bears Den" is just one of our four vacation rental accommodations. We also have the "Eagles Nest" lodging on VRBO with the listing number #798980 in case you are interested in our property availability. And we have the "Klondike House" which is a 3 bedroom ranch home with a listing number #1801842. And then there is the brand new "Moose Cabin" also listed on VRBO with #3288577. There aren’t words enough to describe this piece of paradise - and the hospitality that comes with it. This was our first trip to Alaska for fishing and Ron made sure we were well aware of our options, timing for booking adventures, etc. I honestly have never met hosts that offered so much for a stay. The accommodations were perfect - and such a gorgeous setting. We are hoping we will make it back - and this is where we’ll stay!

This trip was our second stay at Eagles Nest and we enjoyed it even more the second time around. We stayed in 2016 and again this year. The owners have made so many improvements including an awesome fire pit pavilion that is mosquito proof and can seat two dozen people comfortably. WOW. It was amazing. Ron is so attentive and cares for the property so well! I swear it was spotless. My wife was so impressed with how clean it was. Thanks to Ron and Katya for another great stay. See you again soon!

This is one Alaskan lodge you don't want to pass up! Ron & Katya have been outstanding hosts and the property has fit all needs! We were in a interesting situation needing to quickly last minute find a stay for our workers and Ron & Katya made that happen. They have gone above and beyond to ensure the crew is well taken care of. It has made this a very enjoyable stay for the crew! 10/10 would recommend you check this property out for your next Sterling stay!

Ron is a great host! He met us upon arrival to show us around the property. The bears den was comfortable and had everything we could have needed. Down to laundry detergent. There were poles available to fish off the docks on the property. He even helped coordinate an excursion for us. Thank you for making our anniversary trip so enjoyable!

From the moment I booked our reservation at our perfect little Bear Den our host Ron was incredibly helpful.. His knowledge of the area allowed us the best possible experience in this fishing mecca of Alaska. And our best catching ended up being right in front of us off his docks with his expertise in a new technique!
The accommodations were perfect with everything we could possibly need...and then some! I hope to return again and spend more time exploring this amazing area!

Beautiful property and exceptional host!
My husband, 1 year old son and I had the best time here. The condo not only had everything we needed and more, it was very clean, access to fishing and various firepits, but the host Ron was absolutely exceptional. He helped my husband and I with fishing tips, equipment and locations on the Kenai River. His friendliness was contagious. We will absolutely come back here again and recommend to friends that visit Sterling. 5+ STARS!

Ron provided us a personal tour of the property, showing us all the amenities available which included the private fishing docks and fishing equipment, the numerous firepits and sitting areas, the horseshoe pits, and the newly constructed pavillion. Ron also showed us the Outfitters Shed that contained waders, fishing equipment, and ice chests for our excursions. The house was fully equipped and very comfortable (loved the bed). Let me explain: I am an experienced VRBO user, this is exclusively how I travel these days, where I take my family of four out three times a year. I must say this was a very unusual and unique experience.
First, I typically do no prefer host to be present at the property, here that was the case. But it was an extraordinary positive experience. From the moment we arrived Ron greeted us like a old family member. Showed his whole property around, gave me tips abour how to spend the next 7 days with my family.
Second, Ron's home is by the Kenai River, and he let me borrow fishing rods and other necessary equipment for my whole family! I am not a fisherman, but Ron essentially taught us how to fish in the River!
Using Ron's tips we booked multiple fly-in fishing trips (Talon Air, highly recommended) where we caught more than 35 pounds of Sock-eye Salmon. This was an unforgettable experience for my family..
Our girls travel a lot, and it is rare to hear them mention that "dad, we like to come back here!" This is music to my ears! They enjoy the bunk bed and the open area in front. They also enjoyed marshmellows by the fire right in front of the apartment!
Ron also helped me freeze our catch in his freezer and even packed the vac-sealed fish in a box for us to take home. This is superior service from a host!
I think my wife K and I made a new friend! I am sure to come back again soon!

The owner of the property exceeded our expectations in every way. Ron's knowledge of the area and contacts in the community made booking those last minute fishing trips a breeze. Additionally, the onsite outfitter equipment room provided those odds and ends that we never even thought to bring. The accommodations were well stocked and very comfortable. Cooking fresh salmon over an open fire while sitting by the river is about as perfect as it can get. Thanks again for making a great vacation even better!!!

Absolutely amazing
The property was stunning, with seating overlooking the river and great access for fishing. Everything we needed for a relaxing trip was provided in the apartment, from kitchenware to a washer and dryer (a real plus for us). Ron was so friendly and helpful, giving us advice on where the best fishing was and areas to explore as we made our way back to Anchorage. Next time we’re in Sterling, we’ll be sure to come back to this absolutely amazing property and look forward to visiting with Ron again!

We stayed in the Bears Den and wolf den (bunk house), which was perfect for our teenage boys. Wonderful view of the river, great platforms for fishing and fishing equipment was provided by Ron which was great.
The fishing at the property was a little slow while we there (timing) but Ron told us spots to go to catch fish.
Ron really knows the area and is a great host! Can't wait to get back to the area and stay again.

Great place to stay for your stay in Alaska
The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel very comfortable and enjoy our stay. The cabin was outstanding and top notch. Easy to find and not far from the town of Soldotna. Ron even hooked us up on charter to go deep sea fishing and we all caught our limit. Highly recommend staying here.

Absolutely Awesome!
Ron made us feel like family and took time to share options and even set up a horseback ride and a rafting trip down the Kenai! We were constantly on the go but he always took time to come see us and check on us when we were there!! Great stsy and we will be back!

Home base for all of our Kenai Peninsula excursions.
The last leg of our vacation adventure in Alaska was spent right here in Bear’s Den on the Kenai River while celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Ron and Katya were incredibly thoughtful, kind, and very informative. They even had a special welcome prepared for our arrival in celebration of our anniversary.
The Kruckenberg’s have a great piece of property right on the Kenai River with multiple lodging options and many different levels of seating areas outside around the back balcony and lower levels of the backyard. This was the perfect spot for us to be and really centrally located with a great view and access to the river. This cabin had a very quiet, comfortable living space with a blacked out bedroom perfect for sleeping between our summer adventures. We had a large gas grill and a full kitchen to cook whatever we wanted so we enjoyed a Moose steak and some fresh Halibut! We felt like we had the place to ourselves and enjoyed the two outdoor fire pits on separate nights with a little wine. There are three aluminum platforms to fish from right on the edge of the river as well as the aluminum stairs option to get back up to the living quarters. We usually used the grassy trail walkway that serpentines upward from the river to the main house.
Ron always made sure we had everything we needed and always had the right answers to our questions. He stayed well connected with the local road conditions and with us to see if we needed to take a detour to make it to one of our excursion on time.
