Nestled in Poipu, this attractive cottage for $832 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. This custom designed Hawaiian plantation style cottage is located just steps from Poipu Beach Park and Brennecke’s beach on a quiet dead end street. It is the perfect vacation retreat. Hale Honu was just completed in September of 2014 and was designed to fit in with it’s historic neighborhood and the ancient Hawaiian Village that borders the backyard. Its location give a secluded feeling while being close to beautiful Poipu Beach. The cottage's plantation style is the perfect mix of old Hawaii while offering every modern luxury. Outside is a barbeque grilling area and a beautiful double garden shower accessible from either the guest bath or from outdoors. The open floor plan has a living room that opens up to the oversized covered lanai through expansive retractable glass doors. This allows the indoor and outdoor space to truly become one. Enjoy spending time on the spacious covered lanai, eating at the large dining table, relaxing in the conversation area or just lounging on the two chaises to watch the beautiful Kauai sunset. Ceiling fans keep the living areas breezy and cool. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range, full size refrigerator, whisper quiet dishwasher, as well as, granite counters, open shelving, and is fully stocked for all cooking and baking needs. The entertainment system includes a wide screen TV with surround sound, apple TV, blue ray DVD , as well as speakers through out the living room and the lanai Wi-Fi is included throughout the house and lanai as well as TVs in both of the bedrooms. Upstairs the bedroom has a California King bed and a private bath with claw foot tub/shower along with a window AC unit. There is also a screened in lanai/sleeping porch that overlooks the Ancient Hawaiian Village which is perfect for an afternoon nap or early morning coffee. The downstairs bedroom also has a window AC unit and a Queen Bed with adjoining bathroom which has a glass enclosed shower and access to the outdoor double garden shower. We stayed a week with 10-14 yr old kids and they loved this house so much! Had dual outdoor showers, outdoor beds, Sonos, TV in rooms, all amenities, washer/dryer in garage, surfbaords, wagon, snorkeling gear, balls, etc. Kitchen was stocked with much more than most VRBO's w/ shampoo/conditioner/wash/beach towels/chairs/earplugs for roosters :)
Short drives to any activity around Kauai. Walking distance to Brennecke & Poipu Beach which offered boogie boarding, snorkeling in a cove or outside of it with oodles of sea turtles, watching 20-40 sea turtles sleep every night at Poipu beach, sea lions, etc.
Walked to Puka Dog and Brenneckes for dinners/lunch and also went to upscale Keoki's which was only 2 min drive. The walks on the beach for sunrise/sunset were breathtaking as you can walk to all the beachside resorts in the area. You could catch a luau there, dine out or take surfing lessons(which we did).
It was 20 minutes to Li'hue for Costco, groceries, Kalamaku luau at the Gaylords plantation, or malasadas at the Kauai Bakery and coffee.
We shopped/dined in Koloa and loved the lobster roll at Kengi Burger-large burrito size type sushi roll..yummers.
We hit Hanapepe (Lilo and Stich city) enroute to snorkeling at Salt Pond Beach and hiking Waimea and Ko'ke state park area. We did the river tubing at Kauai Backcountry Adventures. We loved the north side of the island too-hiked Haena State Park(need reservations months in advance), snorkeled Anini and hung in Hanalei

This was our second stay at this house and everything about it was perfect - the location is close to beaches (where we saw sea turtles every day!), it is well-equipped with everything you need for the beach and we loved the decor and furnishings too. Thank you for having us and we hope to return again!

This place was phenomenal! So much room and great covered outdoor space for the storm that blew through. The kids enjoyed sleeping on the screened in lanai. We had one small issue, and the owner and property manager were very quick to respond! The location to the beach was amazing. We definitely hope to return again soon!

We loved the convenience of this beautiful home so close to the beach. We had our 19 month old Grandson & the baby items were perfect! The home is stocked with essentials and we loved the beach toys.

Our family had an amazing time at this property. We had all the essentials and appreciated how much care went into decorating and supplying the home. The open air lanai was perfect and we did not need A/C even on the hottest of days. Our kids absolutely loved the screened in crow's nest. Great place to watch the sunset. We will be back!

Beautiful, thoughtfully appointed home. They really have thought of everything to help make our stay comfortable and fun. From the beach gear in the garage to the anti chicken earplugs, from the cozy lanai to comfy bedding. Location is spectacular and convenient to beaches.

Really enjoyed our quiet (albeit for the Kaua’i roosters that you’ll get use to) stay here. Being able to open up the living room really made this stay - a great opportunity to host family dinners and drinks as well.
If we look to stay in the area again, we’d definitely consider this home again.

Property is just as advertised. Great location and the house has all the amenities we were looking for. Definitely recommend using the air conditioners at night or the roosters will wake you up early! We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. The house is even better than in pictures and had everything (and more!) that we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the new AC units in the bedrooms. We enjoyed reading and hanging out on the lounge chairs on the back porch. There were towels, snorkel gear, and beach chairs available to take right up the street to Poipu Beach (which has some good snorkeling!) We even used the tennis rackets to play tennis at the local courts. The house location was a perfect jumping off spot for all of our adventures around Kauai. It offered a peaceful, private reprieve when we got back each day. The outdoor shower, water spouts (to clean off all the sand and mud) and BBQ in the backyard were all excellent things to have. We highly recommend this stay and would love to come back in the future!

This home was great in pictures, but to our surprise, was even better in person!! It was so clean, decorated beautifully, and fully stocked with everything we needed during our stay! The outdoor showers were amazing, and having the garage stocked with everything we could need for the beach made it all so convenient! The location is close to everything, but feels so private and quiet. We would definitely stay here again- if you are looking, don't hesitate- it books fast!! We didn't want to leave!!

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation! This is a beautiful location, you are a short walk from Poipu Beach and restaurants. The house was clean and well appointed with everything we needed. Beach chairs, umbrellas, all that was needed for the beach along with a well stocked kitchen, where we enjoyed cooking dinner and eating on the lanai. The outdoor showers are a wonderful experience! We saw honu everyday, monk seals numerous days, along with an evening sighting of whales from Poipu Beach! We love this island and look forward to going back and would definitely book here again if available!

We have rented many vacation homes over the years…and this was one of the absolute best! A fairly new home (but built beautifully in traditional Hawai’i style) that is well appointed and has everything you need for the beach! Located at the end of a 4-house driveway, it was very private and quiet - if you don’t count the roosters! Located literally across the road from 2 great beaches (and the turtles!) and near Brennecke’s cafe and a walkable distance to coffee shops and Poipu shopping village. Don’t hesitate - book it if it’s available!

We have stayed at this beautiful home for at least 7 years now. The house is so beautiful and cozy and has all the amenities that makes it feel like our second home. I honestly could not think of anything that would make this home better. The beds are comfortable and the garage is organized with all the beach toys and supplies you need - including a wagon to transport everything. We love the outdoors showers and the open feel to this home. The owners are so responsive and very pleasant to work with. Mahalo for another amazing stay and vacation!

This property is just as others have described. Clean and fully stocked with anything you could need. Loved the outdoor showers and outdoor beds. A block from the beach. We are from Florida and did appreciate the recent addition of A/C in the bedrooms. There are very detailed instructions for using all the fans and TVs. We went with our teen aged sons and they had their own hang out space. The absolutely only thing I can think of that might be nice is a Brita pitcher for the fridge since the tap water is not very tasty. That is such a nit picky thing though. I highly recommend this place- I would stay here again without any hesitation. The Stanges have thought of everything! Thank you!

I hate to just echo what everyone else has said about Hale Honu, but this is such a gem and it's hard not to. My family of three (including my 15-month-old) enjoyed everything about our stay. The listing is accurate, but if anything it doesn't do this place justice. I was amazed with how well-equipped this place was including a fully-stocked kitchen and baby gear insuring we didn't need to travel with much. We were set for the beach with beach toys, umbrellas, chairs and even a wagon. With just steps away from the beach, we took advantage of our early mornings (thanks, time change) by walking to Brenneke's for sunrises and watching for turtles (and saw some seals too). We knew this trip with our little one would mean lots of hanging at the house and this was the perfect house for that reason. We loved the lanai for morning and evening relaxing. This home has such a unique ability to feel quiet and secluded while still being in the heart of Poipu beach. We were in town for the Kauai marathon and this proved to be excellent location to the start and finish lines. I hope we someday can visit again. If this is available (which it seems to not be often), do not pass on a stay here. You will not be disappointed.

This was our 3rd stay at Hale Honu and as per our previous visits, it was perfect. Location is ideal, steps from Poipu beach and turtles, walking distance to so many great eating spots including Puka Dog which now is so close it’s dangerous. The house itself has everything you need including gear for the beach, appliances to make great meals to eat on the lanai, entertainment system to play music or stream shows, outdoor showers that can’t be beat, comfy beds to relax in and of course, neighborhood roosters to awake you every morning. Love it and can’t wait for our next stay there. Thank you to Keith, Cathy and Gabby for the great communication and organization!

Perfect house for a small family. We spent almost every sunrise & sunset on beach watching turtles come in & go out & swimming. We ate on lanai every night. Eould return in a heartbeat! My only rec is maybe one more big oscillating fan since there is no AC, otherwise it was simply perfect.

The home was incredible and had absolutely everything we needed. It is exactly the way it looks in the pictures. The Lanai with the open floor plan was amazing. Our favorite were the outside showers. We never even took showers inside the house for 2 . The house even had a wagon, body surfijg boards, snorkeling equipment, etc for us to use during our stay. It is so close to the beautiful Poipu beaches. We will definitely be back.
We also an opportunity to meet some of the neighbors and they were so kind. We even spoke to Kevin and Cathy the owners and they went above and beyond my expectations every way possible to make it the best experience. The house is truely amazing and we will for sure be back, but Kevin and Cathy are a diamond in the rough. Amazing house and amazing owners!!

Thank you for a much loved family stay at your wonderful property. After a long journey from Toronto , this Beach House had the relaxed but beautifully maintained vibe we needed! Every detail has been taken care of in this home. My son loved the proximity to the beach and the outdoor shower. We loved the comfortable beds and extensive lanais, the well equipped kitchen and very responsive property manager Gabby, and owner Kevin. Mahalo!

Poipu Paradise
Absolutely incredible house to rent for a Kauai trip! Location is steps away from the iconic Poipu Beach, and is a great central spot on the island to allow for day trips to the northern Hanalei Bay or westward to Waimea Canyon. Home exceeded my expectations and the hosts were responsive to any questions. We noticed the hosts paid close attention to detail when preparing the home for their guests - a thorough recommendation binder on the table, easy instructions to use house amenities (outdoor showers are life changing), kitchen items in excellent condition, and earplugs in the nightstand (did you know Kauai has chickens?? LOL).
The bedrooms are generously sized and each have a bathroom attached. We spent our evenings out on the lanai enjoying dinner and some music after walking in from watching the sunsets over Poipu Beach. The house backs up to a park that’s inaccessible to people which provides gorgeous views and privacy for you and your guests.
I would highly recommend this home and these hosts! Thank you for a wonderful visit!
