The condo has a nice view of the water and is in a quiet part of town. It is well equipped and has everything you need for a day at the beach.

I would not consider this an ocean view. The “view” is of garden and being on ground floor, it is also obscured by the shrubs just beyond the railing. You look directly across the garden to the lanais of at 15+ Lanais which face you. Did not feel private if sliders snd shades were open, which need to be open to avoid stale air and running the noisy old air conditioner. Parking was random, first come first served. The traffic into Kona on Alii was often backed up past the entrance due to road construction which apparently has been going on for over a year. Absolutely no sand, just rocky coastline which is the majority of the shoreline in the area. Overall, the unit was clean and adequately stocked with essentials. It was moderately priced and suited for a short stay to explore/enjoy the area, not to enjoy from the inside of a condo. Mahalo

Way exceeded expectations - short 3-day trip for work. Arrived to a really clean and WELL-Appointed place (had oil, rice, condiments, soaps and shampoo, great kitchen utensils, laundry soap, everything working (not sure about A/C - never used it.) So much better than having to buy small quantities of these items, could cook from the get-go. Place was quiet, great smoothie/breakfast place almost next door. Not a swimming beach there but could have accessed ocean easily for snorkeling/swim if wanted off rocks. Easy access and nice caretakers. Definitely returning for future trips. Thanks guys!!

Nice condo close to kona. Everything was as listed. Pool area was nice and clean. Owner supplied garbage bags, detergent, dishwasher tablets, and a nice starter kit. We stayed here for 2 weeks and would consider booking again if the cleaning improved. There are dustballs hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom and it appears the ceiling fans have never been dusted.

Lovely balcony setting and well equipped condo and kitchen. Enjoyed using the chairs, mats and boggie board at the beach. View of the ocean splashing on the lava rocks from deck chairs was great and the pool/ deck chairs were also good. A great base to enjoy a vacation on the big Island of Hawaii!

We had never been to Kona Hawaii,we had travelled ample and never cooked ourselves . This condo was absolutely perfect for eating in ...very quiet area....good quiet rules ...first floor was wonderful...few feet out our door and we sitting by the barbecues ( could mix with folks or not ),while barbecuing. Very clean condo ,oh yes and lawn chairs to head to the beach and many other beach items .Dawn always available quickly if in requests . Absolutely give this place top marks to stay . When I chose this place it took my less than 5 minutes and now I know why. !! Thanks Dawn .

This condo had almost everything we needed, is clean and comfortable with an excellent bed! We loved eating our meals on the lanai, using Netflix in the evenings and taking picnics for our day trips to all the wonderful locations around the island. Just two small improvements could be made, we needed some plastic boxes for picnic food and some more comfortable beach chairs (Tommy Bahama?) would be a great addition. We didn’t use the pool much because it was really scummy around the edge.... perhaps it’s coming up for its annual cleaning, let’s hope! Obviously, this is no reflection on the condo itself! We so appreciated the extras, like coffee, condiments, dishwasher detergent and laundry soap. Excellent recycling facilities always a bonus. Spacious bathroom, great shower and so nice to have a tub! All in all it’s a great place to stay, super quiet, we would love to stay again!

Everything was just what we needed. Only problem was getting the TV to work but Clark Realty came right over to show me how and no problem since. Sofa bed very hard to return to couch.

Lovely Hawaiian decor! The furniture was tasteful and comfortable. The complex was very secure with a gated entry. The owners equipped this unit with many amenities. I enjoyed the pool with its ocean view. Also, grills are available and we were able to grill fish and dine under the stars. The location was convenient to Kona where we enjoyed eating at Hugo’s, Humpy’s, and the luau at the Marriott. Also, don’t miss the fabulous poke at the Poke Shack. The complex was perfect for our family vacation since other relatives were in the next building, allowing everyone some privacy. Mahalo to the owners!

Everything was exactly as described. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves at this property. The place was clean, quite and comfortable. The other residents in the area were friendly and polite.

This was a lovely condo, beautifully and tastefully decorated, very spacious, clean and close to town. We really can’t say enough good about it and we would love to come back to this property. On this trip we also visited two other islands and stayed in condos rented through VRBO. There was no comparison between this condo and the ones on the other islands - this is so superior and the best value of all. We were so comfortable and happy with this condo in Kona.

We were fortunate to stay in this unit for 11 nights in March 2018, We found the unit quickly-good directions and the lock-box worked. Unit is well appointed with tropical rattan furniture. Very clean. Full kitchen and new appliances. Beautiful lanai overlooking the courtyard and gardens. Everyone eats their meals outside--also because only bar stools/counter inside. We loved the heated pool and hot tub, also sitting on loungers overlooking the ocean. Note that ocean entry for snorkeling is precarious and not for the feint of heart Lava rock entry. -Some little beetle bugs in the dishwasher and nearby drawers. The Agent put a few borax tablets around but they (the bugs) still persisted. Lots of condo rules ensure peace and quiet is maintained--more for adults and I would say it is not really kid-friendly resort, Overall, we really enjoyed the unit and facility and would return again. Lots of friendly long-term renters make you welcome, and share valuable island info around the BBQ. Covered parking available under tennis courts.

Nice grounds and BBQ area, popular spot for watching the sunsets. The unit has been renovated and if you look hard enough, you'll find pretty well anything you need in the condo. We had a lot of ants and other bugs in the kitchen and bathroom, more of a nuisance than a problem, I do realize this is the tropics and on the ground level. Replacing the moldy shower curtain and giving the floor a good cleaning would help. We also found dirty dishes and cutlery in the cupboards and drawers. Even with the minor proplems this is a decent place to stay.

Very comfortable, clean, nice pool & shared area

We really enjoyed our 3-week holiday at the Kona Makai. It is ideally situated to explore down town Kona which is only a 20 walk away and with easy access to highways going South, North and East. The condo was clean and well equipped. The grounds, pool, hot tub and BBQ area were very well maintained. Also Dawn from Clark Realty and the maintenance staff at the Kona Makai were very responsive to any questions or concerns. The thing we enjoyed the most was the social atmosphere created near the ocean, especially at sunset, where we met many people and established friendships that will last well beyond our stay.

The lanai was nice for meals as the inside eating area was limited for our family of 4. It was so relaxing to sit on the lanai and drink tea or play cards. The condo was a bit small when you keep the pull out sofa out the whole time, but all things considered, it was amazing. I liked reading in the recliner in the evening. The kitchen was very well-equipped with a full-sized dishwasher, microwave, stove, fridge and everything possible you need. We "Costco cooked" almost all our meals there for 2 weeks. There were plenty of soaps and supplies, including beach towels, shopping bags, and a reusable insulated shopping bag, which we really appreciated for our Costco shopping trips. The washer and dryer were a plus. They were so thoughtful... had things like a blow dryer, curling iron, band-aids, emergency supplies, of which we used a few band-aids and were very,very grateful! The king-size bed was also a necessity on our list. The condo was clean, had good air, nice lighting, and good fans. We enjoyed ping pong in the common area (they have balls and paddles). They have a big library in the common area and also some puzzles (as well as some in the entertainment unit in the condo...I also left a few!) The sunsets were amazing. A few nights at sunset we saw whales. The common hard lava beach front area hosts a place where you can snorkel or just peak in and see a school of yellow tang. The maintenance crew is meticulous. They cleaned the fitness room, all tables, BBQ, and maintained grounds daily. The place is very well-maintained. The pool was great for our grown sons. You really can't ask for a better place, and the price is great for such an amazing place. It isso close to Kona, and only about 1/2 hour from Two-Step, which really has about the best snorkeling around. It is very quiet. We never heard anyone. They also have a guest book where people leave suggestions and comments....it was nice to read a few of them and share memories. We felt like home. I would definitely recommend this place, and I would love to return.

Superb facility and reasonable rates

We enjoyed our stay in the condo. It was well-stocked with everything we needed -- beach towels, beach chairs, coffee, and, of course, dishes, linens, etc. It was clean, air-conditioned and had a nice view.
