Redwoods on the River!
About this house rental
Located in Rio Dell, this charming house for $287 per night is a great option for your next trip. Welcome to our little paradise in the woods....Please, come and stay awhile. Enter the front gate and leave the world behind. You will be greeted by our redwood sentries and the sound of trickling water. With an instant calm, you’ll know it’s time to relax and enjoy! The house is nestled among the trees along the upper bank of the Eel River. You can walk along your own private path to its shore through the wild wooded walkway that leads through the property. On the river, you can hunt for rocks and fossils, play with your kids or your dog, wade in the water or fish for salmon and steelhead. The yard is like your own private park. There are magnificent redwoods, ferns, and rhododendrons among many other native and blooming plants. Rio Dell sits along a bird migration route so there are many birds to enjoy at various times of the year. There are seed and nut feeders for you to fill (we provide the food) so that you can sit and enjoy the birds and the squirrels. We have an inviting fire pit area for roasting marshmallows or simply enjoying a warm, outdoor fire. Break out that guitar for an evening of singing around the campfire. Inside, you will find a comfortable living space that is quaintly decorated. Large windows in the living room and dining area afford a sweeping view of the yard and the river beyond. There is a 55” LED TV and a wireless Blu-Ray player. We provide a small library of regular DVDs (bring your own blu-rays) plus hundreds of free, online Netflix movies. The living room easily seats 8 or 9. Our "shabby chic" queen sofa-bed is very comfy for sitting or sleeping (it has no “bar in the back”). Our gas wood stove, with its burning logs, really cozies up the place without the fuss or mess of a real wood fire. Bring your iPod and plug it in to our Bose docking station to enjoy your favorite tunes. There is plenty to read as we keep our entire library of books in this house. We also keep an assortment of games for all ages. Bring your laptop and either plug in or connect via wi-fi for your surfing pleasure. We had a fantastic stay at the house over a long weekend. The backyard is enormous and entirely fenced in (perfect for our dog!). We really enjoyed the river access as well. It is very secluded and we didn't run into anyone else when we were there. I would highly recommend for anyone searching for a relaxing, remote escape among the redwoods.

We had a great stay in this charming, private, well located house with a beautiful, peaceful yard and river access. The location is ideal to explore Humboldt Redwood State Park to the south, Ferndale, and the redwood parks to the north.

The location is was ideal for our family. 1 hour south and 1 hour north and we're in the redwoods. Backyard nice and private.
Fire pit and wood ready for smores.
House was clean and kitchen well stocked. Parking behind gate was nice and private. If you want a luxury vacation rental this is not it.
This is a great place to spend the night, do some laundry and recharge for the next days adventures.
This place is worth your consideration

We loved this rental. It is just as described and very tranquil setting. The fencing was dynamite with little folks keeping them safe. The kitchen was on the" small side but served our family well. No dishwasher was perfect for enlisting the "teens" into chore duty! The washer a dryer was great and used daily with our bunch of beach hounds! One of our favorite rentals. The downside was small but the coffee maker could be larger and more cups at one time, pp

Our stay was absolutely amazing and the home could not be more accommodating. It suit every single need our family had and was extremely welcoming for our dog. Everything from the beds to the kitchen, to the restrooms, to the yard were just PERFECT. The only thing that would've been nice would be for the path to the river outside the back gate; a clearer path for an easier walk to the river would've been great. Other than that, I would definitely recommend and would love to stay at this home again!

This is a nice clean and comfortable home and the hostess welcomed my dogs and me. The backyard was lovely to relax in and the windows in the living room gave a lovely view of the yard. The main bedroom mattress was super comfortable. Location is conveniently located to access avenue of the giants and the ocean. I would definitely stay here again next time I visit the area.

We were in the area to explore the nearby Redwoods, and the location was perfect for that. The kitchen was quite functional, allowing us to cook full meals. And having Redwoods right outside the window was an added bonus. One of the beds was pretty squeaky, but our son just moved into the bunk bed room instead. All in all a great stay.

Although we had a few glitches during our stay, the house is comfortable. The yard is a very peaceful place to hang out.
*But* we were disappointed about two things - there is no dishwasher unless you count your own hands, and if the bed in the Big Bear Room is a Sleep Number bed, there are no controls or other indications of it. Otherwise we made repairs (a gate blew down in a wind storm) and made the place comfortable with the next door neighbor's help - he's wonderful!

We spent five nights in this older, but very well-appointed home in Rio Dell, situated on the banks of the Eel River. Beautifully landscaped property with easy access on and off of the 101 for local exploring, or heading up the coast to Oregon. Fortuna, Ferndale, and Eureka are all easy drives from here, as is access to Avenue of the Giants, with Garberville maybe 30 minutes to the south. The homeowner was very responsive and helpful during our stay, as well. We will seriously consider staying here again the next time we visit this area.

My husband, daughter and her boyfriend where looking to get away, rest and recharge, over Thanksgiving. The home was warm and inviting, very clean, and had everything we needed. The pictures were exactly what we found when arriving. There is a market nearby for last minute needs. Fortuna is 15-20 minutes away with anything else you need. The hiking in the Redwood Forrest and on the Lost Coast was amazing! And the home was very central to all of this. Highly Recommended! The Vander Heul Family

For us , it is SO MUCH better to stay here than at an hotel. The kids all had their own beds. They loved the movie collection! and they liked to be out doors when the weather cooperated. I liked that the yard is totally fenced. The best assets was the kitchen. It is stocked with everything one might need to fix a meal. The other is the washer and dryer. Not having to pack dirty clothes home is a plus!
Nest time we go to Humboldt to see family, we will stay here!

After driving into a working-class neighborhood and unlocking a gate to the entry, we stepped into forest retreat from which the rest of the world was hidden. A beautiful back yard in which to sit and read or safely explore, especially for our dog. A home with plenty of space and all the amenities one could desire and enough DVD's to fill a Blockbuster. Our only complaint is that when we left a message for the owner about the failure of the gas fireplace to cycle on and off automatically, we received no response. I had indicated in my message that we could manage the problem manually but I did expect a call back.

We had a comfortable stay here. The house was very clean and well cared for by the owners. Check in was easy and owners were responsive to our questions. The house was well equipped-- the only thing we could have used were a few coat hangers. All in all a pleasant stay y amid the redwoods.

The house is a beautiful place to escape the heat. Well fenced yard makes it safe for the dogs. The river was too low for fishing but it's a short drive to the ocean for shore fishing. We also enjoyed nearby horseback riding and local farmers market. I hope we are able to visit this house again soon.

I grew up in Humboldt County and this was like really coming home. The home was comfortable and the yard with the redwoods and beautiful landscaping was wonderful and relaxing. We had activities planned, but it was really nice to just stay at the house and relax. The owners are awesome and the neighbors were also helpful and nice. I recommend this to anyone who loves the redwoods and the outdoors. We want to go back for sure.

It’s property was just what my family and I were looking for. The backyard was amazing with beautiful redwoods and a fantastic fire pit. It was very close to Avenue of the Giants and other towns we wanted to visit. It was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms and showers were good and we loved that there was a washer/dryer. Great property!

We enjoyed 5 wonderful nights at this very well equipped home. Close to all the things we love, ocean, redwoods, and breweries! Highly recommend a 12 mile drive right out of town on Monument Rd all the back way to Ferndale. Beautiful. The farmers market on Tuesday afternoon in Fortuna was great. I ve never paid $1.25 for a single ear of corn but I can honestly say it was the best I’ve ever had! Shots coffee is great. Blackberry berry picking was a bonus. Already planning for next year. Thanks so much.

I loved this place because it reminded me of going to my Grandparents house. It has that old person cozy vibe about it. This made our stay a little more relaxed since the home was very useable. The river behind to house was fun. The local tree parks are very close. My only complaint is the decoration need to be dusted in every room. Some rooms were very clean others had dust especially above the queen bed. But overall the house was very clean. I’m still giving it a 5 because I would go again.

Comfortable home
We enjoyed the Redwoods on the River home very much. We had 4 adults, 1 teenager, 3 kids and two dogs. The beds were comfortable, and the neighbor helped us out with firewood. The trail going to the river is overgrown with what appears to maybe be berry bushes, they scratched us all up pretty bad all weekend. Short drive to the Redwoods. This property is on our list to visit again in the future.

Immediately we could tell this was a well-loved home. The back garden has impeccable landscaping and the general design of the house was adorable. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication with the cleaning service that resulted in the house not being clean upon our arrival, however, the property owner was very communicative and handled the situation with timeliness and understanding. It wasn’t the ideal start to our vacation, but it ended up being an enjoyable experience. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
