The property was misrepresented and unsafe. My parents didnt stay with us due to conditions of the property. We contacted Vacasa the rental management company and decided to leave the property and stay with friends as the windows were broken and shattered and the master bed was broken, no wifi, no functional washer and the list goes on. I expect a full refund from VRBO....I am a frequent client of VRBO and this was not acceptable. Please advise how to go about obtaining a full refund or I will have to involve our family attorney. Look up my history-I am a great client

There was a nice view from the terrace, and nice location, but that was generally the positive. The house is not in great shape - especially considering the high cost of renting it. The kitchen was stocked like a college dorm room - very few utensils and plates, etc. would be nice to have a full set. Also the air conditioning units were gross - someone from vacasa came to clean them after I complained but one seemed to have black mold growing in it which seems like a health hazard. There were also ants in the house as other reviews mentioned. Didn’t even bother using the shower. Also, the wagon was missing when we arrived so I needed to rent one. Overall certainly not worth the cost, but has potential if some tlc was put into it.

This house in managed so poorly.
When we arrived the house was like a sauna, we had to turn on all wall unit AC’s ourselves and it then took the entire night to even cool the house.
As we looked around I was disgusted with how filthy the house was. The dining table was sticky and stained and even had hair from previous renter stuck to a pot holder. The counter tops in the kitchen were just quickly cleaned but not truly cleaned. There were splash marks on the cabinets from previous people that were never cleaned. I went to use a cutting board on the counter and when I grabbed it was sticky and absolutely disgusting. I had to start cleaning upon arrival just to feel comfortable. The kitchen is lacking even basic things like drinking glasses, wine glasses a set of forks for the 11 people it says the house holds.
The couch was so stained and gross I wouldn’t even sit on it.
The downstairs bathroom had a towel rack ripped out and never replaced.
There was a dirty towel in the outdoor shower with an empty beer can. There were about 20-30 empty beer cans stuck in the beach chairs that we had to throw out. There was only 2 working bikes out of the 4.
We could not get the only TV in the house to work.
The worst part of all of this is that there was no one to contact. No property manager ever got back to us. We called three times and had to detail our issues, spent over an hour on these three calls and still no return call from anyone. Every time I’ve rented other houses there has always been someone we can quickly contact for any issues but this was not the case here.
It’s a shame because the house itself is really cute and it’s in such a perfect location. 2 min walk to ferry, 1 min walk to market and east access to both ocean beach and ocean bay park. But, poor management and lack of cleanliness is too much to deal with for the price we paid.

This house is over prices and advertised as being brand new or recently remodeled based on the pictures. However, the house is dirty, run down, broken furniture, broken doors. Requesting a partial refund of $3,000

When we attempted to check-in at 4 pm, the cleaners were there and the house was still filthy. They told us it would be awhile longer, but didn’t give an exact timeframe when it would be completed. We left our bags in the porch and wandered around town for about an hour until it was “clean.”
I know they were probably rushed, but the house was still dirty after the cleaning crew left. The bedspreads were stained/dirty, and several of the towels had stains on them. The floor was still so dirty that the bottoms of our feet turned black after walking around barefoot. The couch was stained and there was what appeared to be black mold in several of the air conditioning units. The bathroom downstairs had holes in the wall where a towel rack should have been, so there were few places to hang towels.
We wanted to bike around the town and the listing mentioned multiple bikes would be available. However, the bikes were strewn about the yard and rusted or broken.
All in all, for the amount of money we paid to stay at the house, it was disappointing to say the least.

The house was lovely and perfect for our family. It was close enough to the ferry to be convenient, but not so close that you didn't feel like you were on your own private island. Short walk to the beach. Also a nice walk or ride into town on bike. LOVED IT!

Our group consisted of adults from age 33-62. On our second night one member of our party went to do laundry which is located in a separate building that is off of the house connected by a bridge walkway. She went to lean on the railing and it fell apart resulting in her falling 6-8 feet. We had to call 911 and have her checked by EMTs. It resulted in bruises and swelling of her face and overall soreness. (She will be seeking further medical attention by her primary doctor now that we are home) A member from Vacasa did come to the house that evening but was very cold regarding the whole situation. They offered us a refund if we were to cut our vacation short for unused evenings. We requested a full refund for the negligence of property upkeep and were denied. There was absolutely no reason for a railing to give way like that and this incident could have easily resulted in permanent bodily injury or death. We would never stay at a Vacasa property again. Other than that the house as a whole was dirty, was unsafe for dogs or kids (inside stairs are steep and railing is unstable) and we found several coackroaches, the house had no hair dryer and the bicycles were broken. When I brought the other concerns to the property manager her response was "I'm sorry you have had a less than desirable experience" with no offer on how to fix or replace any of those items.

House improvements NEEDED
-The air conditioners should be on upon the arrival of new guest. It took 12 hours to cool the house.
-the air conditioners need to be cleaned too. We cleaned the one in the living room but all of them are gross.
-the first floor bathroom is riddled with black mold. I sprayed bleach and got some of it cleaned, but really? It’s unhealthy…if you had a hand held shower head it would be easier to clean the walls, doors and floor.
-hooks on the back of the bathroom and bedroom doors to hang towels to dry would be helpful.
-Small trash cans in each bedrooms are needed. And a trash can in the laundry room for lint removed from dryer.
-extra sets of bed sheet are needed!
-dish towels are needed- not one to be found
-there are only 9 forks and 5 spoons we were 11 guest…
-a hodgepodge of dishes
-no cookie sheets or large baking pans
-non stick pots would be great, food gets stuck to them if they are not “ hard anodized” is best.
-the coffee maker is missing a part, (the little ball so when the pot makes contact it can drain the water into the pot. (Honestly, it’s in bad shape. It’s never been cleaned) plus the listing did not say if it was a Keurig or pot or what kind of filters are needed.
-the ice maker and filtered water
dispenser on the refrigerator is inoperable. The cost of ice and bottled water is ridiculous!
-the wood floors are nasty- they are filthy and need to be refinished.
-the sliding doors on the east side are extremely difficult to open/close. Plus, the screen is ripped. (We fixed it)
-the east and west deck are all splintered. This is dangerous and should be sanded and sealed or replaced.
-there are no bicycles?? This is the first house on fire Island that we rented that did not provide them.
-the outdoor patio set needs new cushions. They are crappy, dirty and stained.
-the couch in the living room is completely unacceptable!!! It is so stained with grease and food and god knows what! We couldn’t sit on it without covering it with blankets.
-Shades for the west side large 8 windows are needed- the heat from the sun makes the house very hot and the extremely small single air conditioner in the living room does not cool the upstairs.
-the BBQ needs to be power washed and the baffles need to be replaced. It’s a good unit but has been seriously neglected. Plus you need a new barbecue scraper and the start button is broken. Only 3 of the burners work.
-More towels for guest or provide laundry soap to wash the few that are available- No one wants to do laundry while on vacation.

We just returned from this house and everyone is still raving about it. It is in the best location, 2 minute walk from the ferry, the market, the liquor store. 5 minutes to Ocean Beach and all the bars. The house was clean, spacious and beautiful!! You will not regret staying here. I can't wait to come back!!

You can’t beat the location of this house so we were ok with overlooking some of its flaws. Right next to the Seaview Market and ferry and about 15 houses in from the beach. Unfortunately the house wasn’t very clean and there was an ant problem. If we weren’t super diligent about putting leftover food away and cleaning up spills right away there would be a line of ants. House was not ready when we arrived despite getting there after check in.

This beach house is in great location and worked well for our family. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and stocked with towels, soap and shampoo.
Unfortunately, the floors were less than clean and we got out the mop to wash the kitchen floor. The refrigerator did not work properly (no ice or filtered water and we had to reboot to get the refrigerator side to keep cool).
The property manager did respond to our concerns, but there was no follow up.

Great House and Great Location
Good house with ample room, good layout and amenities. Only improvement would be that the floors were a little dirty when we arrived. Inclusion of a swifter/mop to clean the floors while we were there could have reduced the sand on the floors.

Filthy
The location is ideal but the property was **filthy** (despite assurances of extra premium cleaning given COVID-19). In cleaned pots and pans were placed in the cabinets. A dishwasher filled with dirty dishes containing rotting food; the food had been left rotting for so long that a putrid smell came from the dishwasher. The floors had not been swept or mopped. The upstairs bath was filled with hair from the prior renter. The downstairs bathroom had not been cleaned. There were cobwebs on the lamps and even the handle of the microwave oven. The wagon that was supposed to be awaiting us at the ferry terminal was missing. By far my worst VRbo rental experience.
