The house was well appointed and comfortable for our group. The kids certainly enjoyed the game room and having it separate from the living room meant there was a quiet space, too. Although it's location would be great in the summer, we enjoyed being able to access hiking trails located near the bottom of the hill.

Loved this house, plenty of space for 9 guests. The view is wonderful and the location in Big Canoe is very convenient. The house has all necessary amenities and is perfect for cooking meals at home. The game room was also fantastic. One drawback is the description noted there was a smoker but there isn’t one, this was something we planned to use. The ice maker also does not work well, but overall great house.

Internet pictures suggested a much bigger home. With 6 adults and 5 children staying in the home the living room, kitchen, and area around the outside were small and crowded. The home is in need of some renovation...hard wood floors need refinished, stove/oven needs replaced, showerhead in master bath would not stay in holder and would fall out of holder. On the positive side the kids throughly enjoyed the games, hammocks, video game, etc.

Had a great time at this property with friends for a week. Community has lots of activities, hiking, lake, pool, pickleball, golf, playgrounds, rock slide (must try!) and more. We went into Jasper for a day, enjoyed the Fainting Goats Vineyard and Ocoee Rafting. A great place for an outdoor lovers vacation!

We enjoyed our vacation time in Big Canoe. There was actually so much to do that we didn’t get to everything that we wanted to. The house was great and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing get away.

The house is conveniently located to all the amenities in Big Canoe. Spacious home with plenty of activities inside to entertain all ages. Great communication with owner.

My husband and I enjoyed spending time with all of our kids (plus one grandchild) and mother-in-law at this property. Beautiful area, the house was very nice and had everything we needed. Plenty of space for everyone. Please note: The images of the pool and lake/beach just below your deck comes with a $20/pp per day fee (or $100/wk pp) to use. The information is not fully clear on this. It only stated that some fees may apply for use. You don't get this full info until after you've booked your stay. Also, roads inside of Big Canoe are very windy and hilly. We had to back down the big hill/road to the house to park. Takes a little getting used to - it's steep. Dusty was fairly receptive when we needed to contact him. Calling him is best, if needed. Overall, very nice property and area!

Beautiful property right on the lake. Would love to visit again in the summer. The boys enjoyed the basketball courts and the girls enjoyed the indoor pool. There were lots of games for the kids who enjoyed the tabletop shuffleboard, scrabble, and arcade. The kids had a baking championship and all necessary utensils were there. Lots of baby stuff although we brought our own. Gorgeous hiking trails accessible from the property that lead to waterfalls and can circle the lake. I had to contact the owner at one point (no issue with the property) and he was quick to respond and super friendly. Please be aware that we were not able to locate a charcoal grill but were able to locate a propane grill. Definitely recommend!

The Roost is such a lovely cabin and the view of the lake and the beach is exceptional. I'm sure in warmer months of year it would be the best location in Big Canoe! Our family had plenty of space to gather and enjoy games and fun. There was also wonderful private space on three levels so we each had our own rooms with en suites. It is an absolutely lovely cabin and Dusty could not have been more helpful. If we don't find a cabin of our own soon we will be returning to The Roost!!

The home was beautiful! Easily accommodated everyone. The games were so much fun and the fire pit was so cozy. The only thing is that’s it’s a very steep driveway so make sure your comfortable backing in or backing out! But overall I would stay there again :)

All good things to say about Big Canoe and this property. It was the perfect girls getaway from Atlanta - relaxing, easy, close. The house is beautiful and Dusty made everything easy. We would absolutely come back! Thank you.

3 adult couples..one grown child in college, one married adult child and one adult sibling. This was a central location for a relaxing get together. Our family’s are dear friends and we do a family vacation twice a year. We love Big Canoe and this house was the perfect set up for our get away. The views were pretty and relaxing. We had plenty of space for everybody to sleep and have privacy. There were lots of games in the house that we enjoyed playing. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of seating. We definitely recommend and will not hesitate to return.

I can not say enough wonderful things about this house. It has a beautiful view of the lake and pool. A awesome game room. It is so perfect for a family vacation. 3 stories so everyone has there own space but so much to do and enjoy. My whole family loved this house!!!!

We visited in October and the leaves were turning colors and the weather was perfect! The view from the house and just getting to the house through the windy heavily treed road was gorgeous. This is a secluded gated property with so many amenities, however kayaks and paddle boats were not available to use past September. There are only a few stores nearby, and we ended up traveling about 20-45 min in every direction to get to our destinations. Not a big deal but keep in mind if you have little ones. There are a lot of fun activities (as pictured) and board games galore at the house. Plenty of space for kids to hang out on the first floor and have their own space! We loved finding new trails to hike throughout the neighborhood. This is not your typical neighborhood though, it’s more like a forest Got to see several waterfalls and the kids has a blast hiking. Thanks Dusty for a wonderful stay!

This is a lovely property and house! Views are gorgeous, area very safe and house is huge with so much to do! We had four adults there (girls trip reunion) and you could have easily had 12 people comfortably in this house, in fact I felt we wasted space! The game room is phenomenal. The landlord was very helpful and communicative, just a pleasure. I highly recommend this property.

We stayed at The Roost to celebrate our son’s 13th birthday. We had 5 kids and 4 adults. The kids loved the downstairs space with the bunk room, game room and the ping-pong table/dart board outside. The proximity to the Beach Club was a huge plus too. The kitchen has everything, the grill worked perfectly and there was plenty of dining space for everyone. Highly recommend this property for gatherings of family or friends:

We had so much fun. Our ages ranged from 3 to 70 and everyone loved it. The Beach Club is great, we were all able to get kayaks and paddle boats and go out on the lake. They are available to just grab and go and return and try something else. Our kids loved the opportunity to try out a kayak. Of course the obstacle course and pool at the beach were great too. Yes, you can get to the beach from the back of the house, but it was too steep for my mom, so we drove to it. But the rest of us could make it. We all went tubing at cartecay; we did the lazy river experience and it was so much fun (tie the kids’ tubes to an adult tube). We went shopping in Ellijay, they have so many antique stores and nice gift shops. The hike in Big Canoe to the old cabin, lower falls, and upper falls was so pretty! We crossed the jeep path several times and really wished we could drive it. If you have an off-road 4x4, it really looks fun and not dangerous. The wildcat pool is very nice. The Last Catch in Jasper has great seafood. We found something different to do everyday and nothing was difficult or for more experienced or active people. We did all these with a 3 yo and a 70 yo. When we stayed at the house to relax, there were so many games for the kids to play. I did not pack any toys and didn’t need to. The house is so pretty, we admired so many things about it. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, there were plenty of bathrooms. It was a very beautiful and comfortable house. We were surprised about how steep the driveway and other roads in big canoe are. We never had any problems, but it was a little alarming at first. We really enjoyed our trip and enjoyed staying in the house.

We really enjoyed our stay. Disharoon Lake is right down the hill. Lots of activities for young and old. The community was beautiful. Driving in it was a little confusing for some folks in our group. The marina was a short ride away and the folks there were super nice. Parking at the house was a little tight but easy enough for 3 cars to navigate. The community is close to a nice grocery store and the house was well equipped for cooking. Thanks

Family memories!
We had a fantastic stay at The Roost and recommend this property to all ages.
Our group had children from 15-19 years of age and all of them enjoyed their stay, including the adults!
The Roost accommodated all our needs.
Fireworks on the evening of the third were quite spectacular and what a great way to celebrate the fourth!

Great location
The house was well laid out and located right on the lake. You can walk down the hill and walk right by the pool and and beach area of the lake which has paddle boards canoes and kayaks. Also a recreation area on water for kids. The rock slide is a very short walk from the beach area. All the games in the house were great entertainment. We traveled to Amicalola falls as well as the upper and lower falls within Big Canoe..The Bourbon Street grill in Dahlonega was best food ever!! And very reasonable. Everything is about a 30 minute ride no matter where you go.The Kitchen was well stocked but if you have pizza fans, bring a pizza cutter😁 Dusty was available when we needed help at the gate and made himself available in case you needed him. Great host!

We had a great time with grandparents and two families with kids. Plenty of space for us all to spread out on different levels. We enjoyed the screened in porch and the fire pit for s’mores. Kids loved the game room. Kitchen was well stocked. Internet was hit or
miss. We enjoyed the lake and pool with the inflatables, rock slide, and kayaks but be aware you have to pay a significant amount extra ($20 per person per day which can add up for a big group) to use so we only ended up spending 1-2 days there. Plenty of other things to do in the area so it wasn’t a problem. Was nice to have pool access to have a pool day. Would recommend Dahlonega - about a 40 minute drive and a cute mountain town. Amicalola Falls were also fabulous. Easy access to hikes straight from the property.

This is a beautiful cabin with lots of things to do. Perfect location for kids to walk down to the beach or pool. We drove our 84 yr old great grandma around the corner to the beach access, because she couldn't make the walk down the dirt path( which was great for the rest of us). This place had everything that you could ever need! The game room was a hit. The kitchen has absolutely everything! We enjoyed eating in the screened in dining room., Roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and relaxing on the hammocks. Beds were comfortable and clean. Air conditioner was greatly appreciated! We were there in a June heat wave. Big Canoe had a lot for us to do and this place was perfect. The owners made it very easy. We would go again!

Large bridal party bride-to-be and eight bridesmaids. Great sleeping accommodations, excellent natural lighting in living area for doing makeup.and spending time together. Overall, very relaxing space that worked well for our needs. Only negative minimal parking for this size group on a very steep driveway. Also, addresses in this area of Big Canoe are VERY confusing…they do not follow in numerical order. Made finding the house difficult.
