Enter through the two teak and carved-glass doors to the first of our two lanais and breathtaking views of the mighty Pacific. From the atrium entry of PUU POA 406, the tropical decor of our newly decorated and furnished family room beckons to a larger second lanai with upscale gas grill and gorgeous sunset views from our famous Hideaways Beach to Bali Hai. Open wide the sliding glass doors of the master bedroom and sleep to the lullaby of crashing waves. From the moment you arrive, to your final swim in our heated pool, your unforgettable stay in our expansively equipped, air conditioned, penthouse condo will be one of luxury, peacefulness and romance. Welcome to Meli Makai - OceansSong at Pu'u Po'a - Kauai's premier condominium complex! This luxurious two bedroom, two bath penthouse unit is one-of-a-kind. The main bedroom of this spacious, 1500 square foot condominium (2200 square foot including the two large lanais), is en-suite with large bathroom, with romantic 'his and her' twin showers, and a relaxing Oriental-style soaking tub. The second bedroom, which has a great view of the mountains and waterfalls, has a queen-size bed. Both the master and the guest bedroom beds have plush, new, custom-made Island Dreams pillow-top mattresses. Located on the top floor of prestigious PU'U PO'A, this end unit has spectacular views of the reefs and surf from its two lanais (see pictures), from the main bedroom, and living room, and from the kitchen and dining room. Elegantly refurnished and redecorated, all of the appliances are new and the kitchen is completely outfitted with microwave, stove, oven, blender, etc. There is also a new washer and dryer. The large family room has cathedral ceilings, cable TV, DVD/VCR player, IPOD Docking station, CD player, and high-speed DSL Internet access for your laptop. There is a second cable TV in the main bedroom. In a quiet, end-of-the-road setting, PU'U PO'A is a solid concrete building, with magnificently maintained tropical gardens, and a pool and a combined tennis court/pickleball court on the property. Because of its top-floor location and concrete construction, there is little noise from neighboring units. Our holiday home is a cliff-edge unit with magnificent close up views of whales, surfers, and sunset views of Bali Hai. The complex is right above and a short path from a secluded beach called 'Hide-Away's' which has exceptional snorkeling over shallow, bountiful reefs (see pictures). PU'U PO'A Beach is just a three minute walk from our condominium in front of the Princeville Resort. Princeville Resort has many amenities including a spa for pampering. Winter brings the whales into your panoramic views of the ocean and the high surf attracts world class surfer 'dudes' daily. Princeville is renowned for its beautiful golf courses and nearby rustic Hanalei has great dining and shopping. We have stayed in many units in Pu’u Poa and this is our favorite. One of my first nights I was standing in the kitchen ( you almost get a 180 degree view of the ocean) and we saw whales breaching… From the kitchen! My favorite though, was drinking coffee on the lanai, watching the surfers every morning. Such a beautiful was to begin our day. The owners quickly responded to any questions, the unit was very clean, and the pictures did not do it justice. We will be booking again as soon as we can!

We really enjoyed our stay at this penthouse condo. Ideal location in Princeville, and gorgeous views! The owner and agency was extremely easy to work with and it was very simple using the Keylock box. AC worked great! Would return again

My partner and I are just back from the most amazing holiday in Kauai, Princeville, and we think the most spectacular rental on the island. The home has spectacular views that you can melt into, two relaxing decks where you can view the sunset over Bali Hai , and is beautifully appointed and cared for. The rooms are spacious and cozy at the same time. Everything is maintained to high standards and I recommend this home for the most delightful and for us, romantic vaction.

The VRBO listing and photos are 100% true and the owner was a delight and accommodating; 1) Close to the end of our stay, the living room tv malfunctioned and was replaced the very next day! 2) Our reservation was finalized after two Covid 2021 cancellations and made on a first available dates/later than our January preference, but the weather was 99% perfect. Noel agreed to personally bookmark the desired dates, for our next Kauai visit (Big Island’s turn 2023) in 2024; beyond the VRBO calendar. Also worthy of mention; lanai privacy of 4th floor units is much (much!) better than levels 1-3.
If looking for an arrival dinner reservation, the nearby Happy Talk restaurant was thoroughly enjoyable. Also, ocean front dining is in short supply; Opakapaka is a bit of a (beautiful!) drive; and right on the coast. Not fancy, and a limited menu , but the catch of the day was excellent.

The Princeville area is quiet but close to shopping and restaurants. The condo was clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the layout of the space is perfect. We would not hesitate to rent this property again.

The kitchen and living are is nice, open and airy. We loved making pancakes in the morning and eating them on the lanai. This is a top-floor edge unit, which gives it an elevated view, additional windows, and extra ceiling height. Along with the nice artwork, it makes the place very inviting.
Hideaways beach was just a hike down - no need to find parking. Our daughter (8) was able to make it down.
Snorkeling there was amazing! We saw a wide variety of fish, corals, and a number of turtles. The beach gear supplied came in handy for trips to Tunnels beach. We wish we could have stayed longer, and want to come back. Thank you Noel and Erica!

Had a grand condo looking north across the Pacific. Really enjoyed the shops, restaurants, bars in nearby Hanalei. Highlight was helicopter trip which allowed us to see areas now unavailable to be visited due to road & bridge construction.

We love this unit and have stayed here 3 years in a row. It is well equipped with everything you need to live comfortably. We have only one suggestion to the owners for improvement. While the living room furniture looks wonderful, and is very appropriate for the location, it is extremely uncomfortable . We tried everything we could think of to alleviate our discomfort, but couldn’t find a good solution. Perhaps it’s time to consider new, comfortable furniture.

Thanks for the game and good reads. We will return.

Pua Poa 406 was top drawer, clean and views to die for watching sunsets on beautiful Hanalei Bay across from the five-star St. Regis Princeville. The unit has great furniture with beautiful tropical patterns. One suggestion is to trash the bed spreads and replace with crisp, white coverlets that sing of cleanliness. Thank you for making our stay at your beautiful condo a memorable one. We enjoyed waking up to the beautiful views while sipping coffee(thanks to the coffee maker provided) on the balcony every morning. You provided all that was needed (especially the air mattress) for a comfortable stay and will gladly consider staying there again in the future.

all about the views and location
This place is all about view and location.
The good: This place is spacious, airy, and has a ton of windows that look out over the oecan. The view from the decks, the kitchen and the master is killer. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean every night. The sunset view was also gorgeous. We never felt that we had to leave to find a better viewing location. Keeping the fan going and the doors open kept us cool and comfortable for the majority of our visit. Also, the location is awesome. It is just above Hideaway's Beach and we enjoyed the mellow and sparcley populated beach every day. The pool was also very refreshing.
The eh: We couldn't find any beach supplies, except for towels, so I was glad that we rented everything we needed. Also, almost everything in the house needs to be freshend up. The knives were dull and much of the silverware was put back in the drawer dirty. All of the fixtures and furniture and paint are quite old, but honestly, because the view was so great, it didn't bother us that much. Something a few other people have mentioned in other reviews, is that sound really travels there. The location is very quiet and serene, so you can hear any conversation or anything going on outside (kids playing music at the pool, dinner conversations, etc). One night, our neighbors had some visitors until around midnight and even though they were inside and in an enclosed lanai, it was very loud.
None of these things would prevent us from visiting again. We had a lovely time and this is a great place to come for rest and relaxation.

Only 3 stars because condo lacks a good supply of dishes, needs better fans and more effective sun block shades on the windows.Only 4 of us there, but needed to wash daily to have enough coffee cups and bowls, plates, etc for breakfast and lunch. Refrigerator door gets stuck open and warms up contents. Afternoon sun pours in main windows but there are only signs of past curtains or shades - nothing currently there to black sun. Did I mention it was hot even though it was May??

There are no shared walls and being on the top floor we never heard our neighbors which added to the peaceful ambiance. We visited with our two adult daughters and the condo, fabulous weather, and North Shore outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, etc.) made it a very special trip. My only slight complaint is that the mattress in the master suite is showing its age and I would love to see a new one in place on our next visit. Still, highly recommended!

Pu'u Poa Paradise
This condo has extreme serenity in every corner. Between the mountain views/ breezes and dolphin sightings off the lanai, there was always something to sweep the stress away. The kitchen is well stocked (even with spices) and has all the necessary amenities to feel comfortable. There is a wonderful walkable snorkel beach but is close to many others by car. This condo is extremely private! We only saw other guests once. We will definitely return soon for tranquility, beauty and rest.

Beautiful Princeville Condo
This top floor condo in Princeville is spacious, spotless, comfortable, quiet, has everything you need, and views to die for. The kitchen is very complete. There is a great starter kit of kitchen supplies that easily lasted us a week. Plenty of towels and beach towels as well. A cool breeze flows through in the evening with the sound of the surf in the background. Princeville center and shopping are 10 minutes away. The only drawback for us, not associated with the condo, was the short path down to Hideaways Beach. We found it rather difficult and only did it only once. Once you get there, the little beach is gorgeous and the snorkeling great. A wonderful stay. Thank you Oceanfront Realty!

Amazing condo - the best we have ever stayed at!
Wow is pretty much all I can say. When we walked into the condo the first time we were really speechless at just how nice everything was. The condo was just beautiful. Everything in it done well - they did not decorate or furnish this condo on the cheap for renters - it really felt like they owners were sharing their very well cared for vacation home with us. The area was just so beautiful and we WILL BE BACK. LOVED LOVED LOVED this rental.

Absolutely Perfect
We were lucky enough to stay at here for an 8 day getaway. From beginning to end, our stay exceeded expectations in every way. The condo was exactly as advertised with stunning ocean views from nearly every room, all of the comforts of home and perfect additions, like beach chairs and boogie boards. The beds were beyond comfortable; the furnishings were exactly what you would hope for on a tropical island getaway and the kitchen was fully stocked.
We spent most of our nights out on the lanai enjoying the view, the stars and margaritas. The mornings were filled with island adventures. It’s a short, sometimes slippery, walk from the condo to hideaways beach, which was as beautiful up close as it was from the lanai. We took advantage of the short walk to Queen’s bath and found ourselves there a couple of mornings. I highly recommend getting there early, as it can get busy in the afternoon hours. Our late mornings and afternoons were spent exploring the rest of the island (Hanalei, Poipu, Na Pali Coast, and Waimea Canyon).
Kauai has a lot to offer in the way of amazing views but even with all of our exploring, our favorite spot on the island was back the condo. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to stay!

Our Experience was So-So
I am writing this review in the airport as we wait for our departing flight from Kauai back to Colorado. My goal in writing this review is to provide future visitors as much information as possible to help them in having the best experience they can in this property. We visited from 12/26 - 1/8.
The great:
The scenery and landscape is breathtaking. The Princeville resort is absolutely amazing. As you drive in to the property you will have views most will likely never have the opportunity to experience first hand. Towering mountains, greenery everywhere, a beautiful golf course, pine trees. We could not have asked for better scenery.
The coffee pot held 14 cups and kept the coffee very hot.
The kitchen is top notch with nice cabinets and quiet close drawers.
Full size washer/dryer.
Owner was very responsive even responded on Christmas Day.
The good:
The view from the condo was very nice. We had some of the best weather locals (we heard comments multiple times) had seen in quite some time and yet still cloudy and windy most days (time of the year?).
They had a very well stocked kitchen (with a few exceptions detailed below). They had non-stick pans, nice silverware, plenty of plates and cups.
Good spots to see nearby (Hanalai Bay, Hideaway beach, Queens Bath).
The bad:
indoor furniture is horribly uncomfortable. Due to the weather and chilly nights there are many times where you will be indoors on the furniture. We could rarely find a comfortable spot where we could sit or lay down for more than about 15-30 minutes.
The windows do not close fully letting cool air in. In the winter when it is cold and the wind blows this makes the condo quite chilly and a bit uncomfortable. In addition noise travels in the halls. You could hear people's conversations, horns honking in the parking lot, roosters crowing in the morning, etc.
They were missing a few things in the kitchen including cookie/baking sheets, sturdy spatulas (the two provided were marginal at best), and measuring spoons.
Cleaners showed up 20 min early rushing us out on our last day.
Additional notes:
The pictures can make the unit look as though it is a two story unit with one covered lanai and one uncovered. There is no covered lanai in this unit. Because there is not a covered lanai along with the cooler weather your outdoor time is limited (again, time of year?).
CJs restaurant is terrible.
Hukilau Lanai in Kapa'a was the best restaurant during our visit.

The condo and week in Kauai surpassed all our expectations again. This was our 2nd visit to Kauai and the condo and we felt right at home. The place was just as we remembered. Noel and Erica were again extremely helpful along with the folks at Oceanfront who manage the place. The best restaurant on the island is still the "barbie on the balcony" as originally recommended to us by Noel and Erica. We fully enjoyed our daily routine of watching the fantastic sunsets over Bali Hai and a glass of wine and dinner under the star filled sky at night. This trip we did have some showers and enjoyed almost daily rainbows from the the balcony!
The unit is very spacious, well appointed and tastefully decorated. The pictures really don't do the place justice and we were very glad to be back again in this very special place.
We highly recommend this unit and location and we are looking forward to 3rd time we can get in touch with the owners and Oceanfront to arrange a return trip!

Wonderfully located, spacious ocean-front condo with vast balconies for entertaining or relaxing. Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean each night, caressed by off-shore breezes from the rear windows. Staff was helpful, unit was spotless.

I was so fortunate to stay in this condo for three weeks in July of 2014. The condo is extraordinary! Two bedrooms with amazingly comfortable beds and pillows. A gourmet kitchen providing everything you need. And two incredible lanais offering the most spectacular views and incredible sunsets. It was so well appointed that we had absolutely everything we needed. It felt like home the minute we walked in the door. Over the course of three weeks, I hosted my adult children and a few groups of friends to celebrate my birthday "Hawaii Five-0" style. Each group was equally impressed with our accommodations. The location in Princeville is fantastic. The condo sits just above Hideaway Beach which is a perfect small beach offering great snorkeling and swimming. The hike down is quite a trek but very worth it. There is a small pool and tennis court on the property. Only a short walk away is Queen's Bath or the St. Regis hotel. Queen's Bath is breathtaking! I did get a massage at the hotel spa and enjoyed a cocktail and appetizer at their bar. It's expensive, especially when you have the most amazing view from the condo and can mix your own cocktail. A 5-minute drive to Foodland in Princeville for groceries. Fifteen minutes gets you to Hanalei where we rented kayaks, shopped, ate and drank. Tahiti Nui is a fun stop for pizza and mai tai's. I ran into Beau Bridges and his wife there (they were also seated in front of me on my flight home). Had a good burger at Bubba's and bought fresh bread at Hanalei Bread Company and fresh juice at the juice stand next to the grocery. But nothing beat picking up fresh fish from the Dolphin Fish Market and grilling on the lanai. Heaven!! Another 15 minutes north from Hanalei takes you as far as you can drive. I highly recommend Sushi Girl just south of Tunnels Beach at a small general store. And hiking at least part of the Kalalau Trail is a must do! We also booked a boat tour with NaPali Catamaran which was fantastic and a highlight of the trip. Did a helicopter tour five years ago. Would do either again. We drove all the way up Waimea Canyon and to Polihale Beach (both are on the other side of the island) on a couple of occasions. It's a "day trip" and so worth it. Stop at Jo Jo's in Waimea for shave ice - order the #2. Hanapepe is a fun stop for shopping, etc. But there's nothing like driving back to the North Shore and it's spectacular views. This island and this condo are something special. Feel so blessed for the experience!
