About this cottage rental
Nestled in Central Hyde Park, this charming cottage for $305 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. POPULAR AMENITY - LEVEL 2 EV CHARGER installed in garage with 24 ft cord. Stunning Craftsmen Carriage House highlighted by hardwood floors and Stickley area rugs throughout, located on premiere street, Janssen Place, in the Hyde Park neighborhood, an area of Kansas City comprised of turn-of-the-century mansions built by wealthy lumber barons and other industrialists. The carriage house is a free-standing structure, located about 100 ft behind its mansion, and part of the nearly one acre property, one of 19 properties on the street, all with historic mansions and many with carriage houses. The apartment is on the second floor of the carriage above the parking spaces for 4 vehicles, one of which is available to our guests. Janssen Place is a divided street with a wide median and is accessed from 36th Street, between Cherry and Kenwood Streets through a grand entrance monument. The street has historic lighting and beautiful landscaping. This luxurious two bedroom apartment above the 4 car garage, has a gourmet kitchen with Jenn-Air stove, dishwasher and frig, has been lovingly restored, giving great attention to incorporating the Arts & Crafts decorating style (including an extensive McCoy art pottery collection), comfortably sleeps 4 (1 queen, 1 double) and is available for Corporate or Vacation Rental. Property has a partial exterior surveillance system for guest security. ADDITIONAL AMENITIES: Central vacuum system. Full size stacking washer (HE system) & dryer Luxurious main bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub with shower, double sinks, spacious vanity, separate toilet room and heated tile floors. Beautifully tiled small, ensuite bathroom off master bedroom with shower, sink and heated towel rack. Arts & Crafts decorating style throughout unit with authentic Stickley rugs, bed and miscellaneous accessories There is a large flat screen ROKU TV with streaming services in living room, easy to access wireless Internet service powered by Google, another flat screen television in primary bedroom. Great midtown location offers easy access to area attractions including Plaza shopping district, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Union Station, Sprint Center ..... etc. Also convenient to UMKC & KC Art Institute campuses, and just a short drive to KU Medical Center. For our dog guests, we have a nice fenced in green area behind the carriage house, so that dog guests can have outdoor time on their own, as long as they aren't "barkers". Our neighborhood is full of dog walkers with the only requirement being that the dogs be on a leash and their owners pick up their dogs' droppings. Since our property has a FIRM CANCELLATION POLICY (no refund for any reason whatsoever, including COVID related reasons, for cancellations with less than 30 days notice, 50% refund for cancellations with 31-60 days notice), it is highly recommended that guests purchase travel insurance as offered by VRBO and other vendors. * Housekeeping available for extended stays for an extra fee * This is a NO SMOKING property - sand pot available on balcony NOT responsible for any accidents that happen on property NO unregistered guests without prior approval No pets without prior approval and payment of pet fee

It's our go-to place to stay in KC when visiting family. It feels like home and everything about it exceeds expectations. Whether you're looking for a cozy place to stay for yourself or a place to invite family over for a dinner, it's perfect. Pictures are accurate...can't recommend enough.

The Carriage House is so beautiful and very cozie. The neighborhood is gorgeous and the people were very friendly. Everything we needed was provided, there were even family games available to play if you wanted to. Our trip was a Christmas present for me from my husband and we took my parents with us, the booking and check-in process was very easy. Mrs. Mitchell was very easy to communicate with and answered all my questions in a timely manner. We all had an awesome time. We will certainly be staying again and I will recommend to our friends. Mrs. Mitchell thank you so much for the beautiful rental.

My spouse and I and our adult daughter and her fiance stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday. The location was very convenient to where our son lives in Kansas City, as well as area attractions like Crown Center, Union Station, the World War I Memorial, and the plaza.
We all enjoyed the decor and architectural details so much - it's a beautiful space and has so much for the eyes to to take in! I also appreciated the lovely kitchen, the laundry, and the EV charger.
It's a beautiful space and it was a great place to retreat to after busy days full of activity.

The Carriage House was one of the best VRBOs we’ve ever had. It was clean, nicely decorated, and very well equipped from the kitchen to the books and games and wet bar. It’s a great central location to explore KC. The garage was great for our Tesla model 3 to charge each night.

We absolutely loved our stay at the carriage house! It was so quiet and comfortable! My husband has trouble sleeping and it was not an issue. If the raccoons have a party on the roof at night, flush the toilet at the end of the hall and it scared them off every time. We look forward to staying again every time we visit our son and his family who live in Kansas City. In fact they came over one day and our grandkids loved the play structure.

The Carriage House exceeded my expectations. It is near many area attractions, eateries, lounges, and shopping. I highly recommend this place - and I will use it again. The only downside is occasional noise from garage doors in use. But, even that was extremely rare. This is an excellent location!

Drive way was a bit small for our big truck especially with other vehicles park in it. Also directions to turn around and then pull in would have been helpful. Otherwise, it was a very safe feeling neighborhood. Place was clean and stocked with extras. We had 4 in our party and had ampke room!

We found this KC, Missouri jewel, The Carriage House central to family and friends for our visit back. The Carriage House is beautifully decorated inside and out with attention to detail. We were here during a storm with widespread power outages. The owner kept in touch with details on where to find lanterns as well as updates on when the power would be restored. Fortunately, power was restored quite promptly. This VRBO is an A+/5 star!! We truly felt at home and will definitely be booking here when we return to Kansas City!

Quick weekend visit to KC to visit my mother in law. The carriage house was a perfect place to stay. Wonderful neighborhood, great accommodations, and pet friendly. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, glasses, cookware and utensils, more than my own kitchen! Carriage house was clean, plenty of towels, and has a washer and dryer. Barbara and Steve were lovely hosts. I would highly recommend the carriage house if staying in KC. We hope to be back in the Fall.

We stayed for 3 nights at this incredibly beautiful property. Everything was so nice. Barbara was prompt and helpful to communicate with, and so gracious. The place was extremely clean and had very comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. We made coffee in the morning and sat outside on the balcony to enjoy the tranquility. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. We loved the gorgeous Arts and Crafts details throughout each room. We went for walks to view all of the amazing historic homes in the area. We loved our stay and will definitely return!

The owners put much love and attention to detail into this Arts and Crafts - style historic property. Well equipped with high-end appliances. Communication with owners was responsive, never intrusive. Beds are very comfortable and the apartment seems very safe. It is on an historic street filled with historic mansions. This location will be even better when the restoration of the historic Main Street street car is completed! This is truly a gem.

Beautiful historic property that was private, clean, comfortable and the location is very convenient, less than 10 minutes to the KC Convention Center. The Carriage house has everything you need and more, including a private balcony and whirlpool tub that works! Great food, great hosts and great weekend for us!

This was our second stay at the Carriage House. It is beautifully furnished and appointed, and immaculate. It is in a quiet, historic. and centrally located neighborhood. The hosts are gracious, check in and check out very easy. We definitely will stay here again.

This place is AMAZING!! My brother and I spent a long weekend here, and could not have been more pleased. On first entrance, it's clear your hosts spent a lot of time and effort to get everything just right. A great layout, with upper-end appliances, wonderful matching décor, the comfiest beds around, and an efficient but wholly-unobtrusive furnace. No corners cut here. And located in an incredibly quiet neighborhood, just a few miles from everything, from City Market, Downtown, Power & Light, Crossroads, WW1 Memorial, Westport, the Plaza, and more. Your hosts, Barbara and Steve, could not have been more pleasant and accommodating; present in the main house but unobtrusive. An incredible value. I know where I'm staying on my next visit to Kansas City!

Cute and comfortable! We had a group of 4 that traveled to KC for the Big 12 Basketball Tournament. The carriage house apartment was perfect for us. The apartment was well stocked and clean. The kitchen had everything we needed. The apartment is in a beautiful and safe neighborhood minutes from everywhere we wanted to go. The owner, Barbara, was great with communication and a thoughtful host. We would highly recommend!

I can’t say enough about our stay here. The communication with the Mitchell’s was great pre-stay. Their attention to detail is amazing. While we barely used many of the extras they provide, they thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were very clean and kitchen was very nice. We told them we were in town for my wife’s birthday and a KU basketball game and they flew a KU flag for us and left a Kansas welcome card.
The location is awesome, very close to downtown, Westport, Crossroads, and other cool neighborhoods.
Next time we’re in KC we will definitely stay here, and would recommend it to friends in a second.

Barbara's carriage house is stunning and amazing! High end furnishings; comfortable beds, extraordinarily clean and in a nice quiet safe area. They have thought of everything - you're welcomed with a nice note to tell you about everything - including the security system which was wonderful! All ammenities + are included here including two plush blue soft robes to snuggle up in along with the most wonderful blanket in the living room I've ever seen! Soft cushy and amazing! Everything is thought of from the wine glasses; copper cups to cotton balls in the bathroom. I will most definately be back! A true gem all around - owners and property!

What a beautiful property! Every detail has been thought through. Everything one would need has been provided. There were three of us girls. Two of us shared one bedroom and the other girl had a bedroom to herself; very comfy beds. There are 2 bathrooms (one larger and one smaller). We brought a few breakfast snacks and there was coffee there for us to use. (A Keurig and a drip coffee maker as well.) No other food/drink provided. Easy check in and instructions for everything was made available. There was even a enclosed garage for us to park our small suv in. I would totally stay here again.

The carriage house was absolutely beautiful and the Mitchell’s took special care to ensure that it was equipped with everything one wants while away from home. The property was very quiet and peaceful, and was the perfect place to stay to spend a short trip in Kansas City! We will certainly be back!!
