About this house rental
Welcome to the Salt Box located in the desired location at MP6 in Kill Devil Hills, NC. We fell in love with the Outer Banks as children and later fell in love with each other here. We were married on the beach just beside Nags Head fishing pier. This is our favorite place to be and we feel certain you will agree after spending your vacation in our beach cottage. We set our cottage up with all of our favorite things we have enjoyed over our years of visiting the Outer Banks. Our home is one block from gorgeous sunsets on the Albermarle sound and a short drive to free beach access. A public boat landing is within walking distance for the boat owner who desires to fish on the water. The Avalon Fishing Pier is only a 5 minute drive away. After a great day on the beach, come and enjoy an outdoor shower and take a nap in the hammock or read a good book on the deck. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking meals at home and there is also a gas grill for your use. Staying at the Salt Box will provide you with all you need to make a memorable vacation with your family and friends. Our cottage has 3 BR and 2 BA, kitchen with bar area as well as an eat in kitchen. The living room provides a 50 inch flat screened TV with smart tv functionality, along with a Wii and plenty of video games and movies. The master bedroom has a King size bed and an attached full bathroom along with a flat screen TV, the second room has a Queen bed and smart TV and the third room has a bunk bed with a full on the bottom and twin on top and a flat screen TV/DVD player. Linens and towels are provided but we do recommend you bring your own beach towels. There is a washing machine and dryer in the utility room downstairs. We offer four bikes for riding on the bike trail along the sound side. The back yard is perfect for a game of corn hole (set in laundry room) or for the kids to play. We do not accept pets. Guests must be at least 25 years of age or a family, this home is not suited for parties. The neighbors are permanent residents and we respect them. The front door has a blink doorbell camera for outside surveillance and safety.

Loved the location of this property! We spent 2.5 days in OBX and this was a great spot to hit many of the local attractions. Great backyard for playing catch or just running around with kids. The bike trail is also one block away and we loved being able to take a bike ride to get some ice cream!

The place was very clean, and this is a big deal for us when we travel. The location was great, close to many things but far enough from the hustle and bustle. Owner was VERY responsive throughout our entire stay.

This cozy, clean house was perfect for my family's stay in the Outer Banks! It's just a walk or bike away from boat dock and short drive to beach access, as well as a ton of fun things to do in area! The property manager was great about communicating details as well.

This property is a real gem. It feels more like a home than a rental property. There's a very comfortable king-size bed, a kitchen with everything you need, and even a washer with an agitator. We enjoyed biking around the neighborhood and to the Wright memorial. The 5th or 2nd Street beach accesses are a 5-minute drive. The owner was responsive and helpful. We had an enjoyable stay.

A very convenient location to all things during our spring break stay! The house had everything we needed. The bedrooms were comfortable and well decorated. The beds were comfortable, and there was good shower pressure. While we were there the Target had their grand opening. The outside amenities provided were nice, bikes (2 adult, 2 kids), and cornhole boards.

Cheryl's house is just perfect for our group. The house is clean and we have everything we need in it. There is ever kind of store close by and you are only one block from the sound. We have stayed here two years in a row and can't wait to go back!

We had a great time at The Salt Box! The property was perfect for our small family of 4, and the coziness made it feel just like we were at home. Being on the bay side was perfect for early morning runs along the water and we were a short drive away from beach access. We would recommend this property to anybody and everybody…we absolutely loved our stay!

We had the best time in outer banks. The house was exactly as described. Fully stocked with everything you need and more. Super clean and perfect. The location was a great spot and we never had a problem getting to the beach. Very quiet neighborhood and tucked back by the sound which was nice. One of the best rentals we have stayed in and we have been coming to the outer banks for years. I really liked that there was so much stuff readily available at the house. Thank you for letting us share your beach house.

We were very happy with our stay. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Great location, close to the beach, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants and activities. Also the neighborhood is very quiet. The only complaint we have is there were only 6 towels and 6 wash clothes. We would have loved to have extras especially wash clothes so we didn’t have to wash them every other day. Everything else was great! I have already recommended this rental to several friends.

Excellent Stay
The house is Amazing! Beautiful inside and out. Has everything you could think of needing, excellent directions for use of everything, Excellent location, close to everything. The owners are great, always in contact if we needed anything. Neighbors were great. Couldn’t Recommend this place more. We had an amazing stay, and vacation, and memories to last.

Great stay
My family and I had a great stay! The property was as described, clean and accommodated our needs. It was wonderful that we had almost anything we needed to cook, had plenty of space to hang out and beds were decently comfortable. The owners were very responsive to messages that were sent, check in/out process was very easy. Glad we found this house last minute, I would stay here again.

The Salt Box is a very clean and cute house in KDH. Very close to the sound and the bike path along Bay drive. We love the location; in a neighborhood yet easy to get to 12 and 158. House was well stocked and very clean and well maintained. We would recommend and will stay again! Great house and great stay!

The mattress in the master bedroom was really firm though to the point that my wife ended up sleeping on the couch. We also had an issue that the microwave was broken and while the owner was responsive when we told her about it, they didn’t fix it so we were without a microwave for 5 days with 3 kids.
