This guesthouse is in a cute, old building right next to a Tulou. The couple that runs it is super friendly. They even dropped me off at the bus station when no bus came by. I recommend two days here for a relaxing trip, as it takes a while to get here.

Stay in a real tulou. Comfortable and spacious room. Good hot water in shower. Lovely family-run place that will cater to your every need. Ta Xia is the most picturesque village in the area, and has a few tulou itself. We originally planned for two days, and extended by an extra day. We spent one full day just wandering around the vilage, popping into anyone's place for endless cups of tea. Nice slow pace of life, and everyone will chat to you. The friendliest town in China????

The owners are so kind and eager to help you enjoy your visit to the tulous. The owner's wife runs most of the show, making meals and checking on your next needs. She is ready with her phone to translate each question and works patiently with guests to work out details. She combines Chinese resourcefulness and efficiency with American friendliness. Her husband and other family members are available to drive guests to and from tulous and arrival/departure points. Finally, the family tulou is lovingly decorated on the first floor. Guest rooms feel like cozy cabins. We found the bed less hard than some in China, as hard as others.

We liked everything! The only fault is minor: a shaky shower head holder. My husband rigged it to stay in place but it does need replacement.

At frist, i thought that it is in the center of Tixia village. But it's not. It's about 1km away from the village. There are few food store around the hostel but they all closed at the time I arrived.
