It's a really charming and spacious Portuguese house in the centre of Óbidos but a few steps away from the tourists' flow. The garden with the hammock and the pool give an extra pleasure to enjoy the siestas in the afternoons. Rodrigo is a very good host, he was always taking care of us

A beautiful traditional Casa within the Castelo walls. Bedrooms overlook the narrow cobbled streets, and the garden overlooks all the towns rooftops and the castle walls - amazing views. Lots of character, loads of space with everything you need. The garden is beautiful, spacious and a HUGE win is the swimming pool! Not many properties offer this luxury in Óbidos, much needed during the long sunny & hot days. Location is perfect. Rodriguo was an exceptional host - always on hand to advise! We loved our stay at Casa do Candeeiro.

Location of the property, within the actual walls of Obidos, in a quiet street, was excellent. The main selling point was the outside space, the small patio on the apartment level and on the upper elevation was the large walled garden, with its plunge pool and various bits of garden furniture, equipment, fruit trees, hammock and brick barbecue, meant that you could just relax, eat, drink, etc., if you didn't want to trawl the streets and eat out. The interior was basically furnished but that is not a criticism, as we enjoyed spending most of our time outside. Internally, it was spotless throughout. The kitchen had all the basics if you wanted to cook a full meal. Bathroom, whilst not new, was perfectly useable and the shower pressure was great, which was appreciated, as the heat was intense during our stay. Rodrigo, our host was on hand at our arrival, he fully explained the ins and outs of everything, the wine/fruit/water and other basics supplied, was really appreciated. He was a genial and welcoming person, communicating with us several times across our stay, just to check things were okay, and he was always prompt in replying to any of our enquiries,5*/5*. I would not hesitate recommending staying there be it for just a few days or longer.

Just an observation, but maybe an information folder, for places to visit, eat out and where some local amenities [Pharmacy, Doctor, Tourist Office, etc.] are located, would make it easier for visitors to orientate themselves.

If you come to Óbidos, which is a natural choice when you visit Portugal, then Casa do Candeeiro is the natural option to stay in. It is a spacy apartment, very well equipped and in a great location. Rodrigo the owner was very informative and helpful. Highly recommended!
