You get what you pay for. The walls are paper thin and can hear what is happening next door

Property is centrally located

It’s is very outdated. The door to the balcony should a screen door. We requested milk and none was delivered and we had to go get our own, which we didn’t care about but don’t say something is there if it’s not

Photographs were misleading.

The location is amazing!

The accommodation is extremely run down. Many of the facilities were closed. The shower rail was rusty, the shower curtain was mouldy and the bath had hair in it. The mattress was so soft that it was uncomfortable.

For one night it was ok but I would not stay there again. The venue did not live up to expectations.

Excellent location. Short walk to beach and shops.

Steps to floor unsafe as bricks make up the steps and rail was at a height best suited to young child. Whilst we had a private balcony only one chair was supplied and it was in a state of disrepair. Car parking and surrounds were not good and not good surfaces. The venue did not live up to photos on the website. Yes I chose this venue based on price but even so, it could have been better.

Disappointing, expensive and slightly scary

Bed room was extremely old that it looked unclean but for the most part it was just wear and tear There was no visable signage - what was there was kicked in and graffitied There was alot of people hanging around that appeared to be durnk or High, lots of screaming and fighting There were permanent residents with rooms that were unseemly and really loud music

Never gonna stay again in this motel

Probably the location, though it was not as convenient as I expected.

Hardly anything was likable for a comfortable family stay. 1. Requested for an early checkin (2 PM) with a 3 year old kid but was denied stating room is not ready. Understand that it's up to the hotel, but we just wanted to keep the bags and move out for lunch. 2. No elevators in the property. When we checked in we had to go 2 floors on the stairs with an aged person and a kid who had a hard time going upstairs. I immediately requested for a room at the ground floor but was told all rooms are booked. 3. In the room only one AC remote was provided. When I called the manager I was told both AC should work on one remote. Not sure how that can happen with both AC of different make and the remote linked to one. Hence the other AC didn't work. I am putting the pics for evidence. 4. Room door, cupboards, drawers were broken. Bathroom door was not working properly and anyone using the bathroom was not able to open it from inside and someone needed to push it from outside to open it. 5. No plug point in the room. I use a CPAP machine at night and was unable to use it due to lack of any place to plug in my machine. Due to that I couldn't sleep properly at night as well. 6. While tea coffee sugar was provided there was no cups/spoon/stirrer to use. Not even a bottle of water was provided. 7. Since the room was not ready we were denied early check in, so we went out and checked in at ~6 PM. And still there was towels all over the room along with broken blinds, spiders and as I pointed, no cups. Only two glasses were provided. I felt as if the hotel was being renovated and they just gave the rooms to the guests when the option arrived. No one deserves to stay in such a room with this kind of facilities after paying AUD 250 per night.

the location was the only good thing..

the staff were rude, couldn’t care less about requirements requested.. the room was very dirty, glasses and cups spoons ect were disgusting, the fridge stunk..

Nobody at reception or anywhere,we had to call them. Property in very poor condition. Water turned off without warning customers. Linen was clean, bed ok, mismatched cups, locks need attention, pool looked good but we didn’t swim. Dodgy interior steps. Maybe they are going to renovate(needed)

We enjoyed the great location, the pool & I'm sure things will improve shortly.

There was no breakfast available. The location is great.

We could see they are trying to fix things up not ready yet. BED not comfortable needs new one. Needed to change sheets after at least three days, yes we asked for clean towels after a couple of days, which they did. We had to put our rubbish outside the door as they never came in to check, as we were there for 7nights I think they could check more regularly.

DO NOT COME HERE, IT IS NOT SAFE.

I paid $170 for the night just to put it briefly if you value your time, hygiene all of the above do not come here please. I come to entrance all the time for fishing trips and this was the first motel anywhere was dirtiest, mouldiest, crazy guest partying in their rooms all night to the morning with no security onsite or any contact numbers for our safety we felt In danger as these young men were patrolling the foyers and whole complex causing trouble and screaming at each all night we did not feel safe at all lucky we only stayed one night, I have never seen a room so dirty and full of stains, everything is falling apart inside and no consideration for anything fishing related, the people stay here most likely because they fish and their wasn’t any plates or cutlery or any cooktops or bbq or anything the fridge was barely on the bed was spring mattress was worn out cause it was leaning to one side worst experience in my life of motel staying I will never be back here again. I hope to god I did not catch any viral diseases from this room otherwise everyone will hear from me and my lawyer, this place should be shut down.

Friendly and courteus staff. Even called me the morning of my booking to confirm my arrival. Easy to check in. No problems.

The entire building is run down. My room was clean, but outdated. Leaking shower, had to manipulate the shower head to align with wall so the fast dripping water would not drive me insane. Leaky basin in bathroom. Had to literally turn the water outlet to align with basin wall so again the dripping (flowing) water did not keep me awake all night. When using the cold water tap it was literally flowing water from the washer in the tap handle. When adjacent rooms were using the shower, the noise from the pipes in the wall would have woken the dead in the next town. It was really loud and terrible. Bedside table lamp had no globe. Bed was terrible, very uncomfortable and made so much noise you couldn't move without waking up. Parking was allover the place, people had no designated spots, people were parking allover the place. Overall the location is great, across from the water, but the entire facility looks so old and run down. I guess I wanted to spend minimal amounts to save a bit on accommodation, but in the end I got what I paid for. I'll never stay here again. Sorry.

Desperately needs of a revamp ASAP won`t be back again disgusting

paint falling off all the walls in the bathroom , shower looked disgusting from paint falling off & grout filthy we didn't feel clean afterwards , arrived to half a roll of toilet paper with no spare roll, no fly screen on Veranda door so couldn't leave it open for fresh air ,when closing veranda sliding glass door the noise was horrific & loud , bed was rock hard pillows were neck breaking hard & way too high so slept without them , entry door was cracked like it had been tried to get broken into , couldn't hang my long dresses as the draws in the cupboard & ironing board took up all the space , toilet had left over faeces floating in the water,

Then travelled hours to get there only for them to tell us that no longer had a room available as they overbooked themselves. Very poor management and booking system. Man behind the desk was very unprofessional and unapologetic. Disgusting service!

I only liked the location nothing about the place very old and not maintained very run down..

The place was very run down need up grading Couldn't find power points No room service had to and find someone to give toilet paper garbage bags and towels and no where to throw the rubbish out.. paint on doors was coming off fly screens broken or nun of them had the screen on..the windows had to be shut.. doors and sliding doors broken and I could go on and on about other stuff..

Great price and location and worth consideration despite being worse-for-wear

The staff at El Lago are fantastic. They are really committed to providing good customer service, even when they are short staffed. You can really tell they have their hearts in it. The hotel is priced appropriately, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The location is fantastic and walkable to the main attractions on the esplanade. Our room, while dated, was cleaned really well. The beds were really comfortable. The pool area is spacious with a large pool that was well used by guests.

The motel has clearly seen better days and needs a lot of work to return it to a better standard. The surrounding properties are also not in great condition which doesn't give a great first impression. It's not going to be for everyone, but if you are looking for well-priced accommodation in a good location and can deal with the run down facilities it's worth consideration.
