This seafront vacation home is located in the small fisherman's village Lagun, at the quiet west-side of the island. You can take a splash into the crystal clear Caribbean sea right from your own private stairway. It's also on walking distance of just a few minutes from the beautiful Lagun Beach. Every evening you can enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Caribbean Sea from your own terrace. The property offers all the luxury and amenities you’ll need for a perfect and relaxed vacation. Indoors the house offers 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped luxury kitchen, a living room, a laundry room and a porch with dining-, bar area. Outdoors there’s a veranda in front of the house facing the beautiful hills, a lounge area overseeing the ocean, a bar & BBQ, outside bathroom & shower and scuba diving facilities. Last but certainly not least there's a staircase that leads you down to the clear blue sea for some swimming, snorkeling, diving or maybe just to relax and listen to the sound of the ocean of do some fishing. Guests will have complete access to the entire home with the exception of some personal closet space from the owners. For privacy and security, the property is completely surrounded by walls and fences. The owners live on Curaçao and depending on time and availability like to personally welcome their guests to the island. Guests will always get a complete explanation of the property at arrival. During your stay the owners will be available to answer questions and they will come by if needed.

The home was beautiful, immaculate and modern. The view of the ocean was incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will gladly go back again. The host was magnificent and made things easy for us.

We stayed at this amazing property for 7 nights, and it was spectacular! Bart was so helpful helping us get in late due to delays with the airlines.
House was beautiful, location was great- away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Plus, you can jump right in the water from the back of the house!
The house was stocked well with every thing you could need- including beach chairs, floats, etc.
I highly recommend walking over to Discover Lagun restaurant, chef Robbert is GREAT!! Go on Wednesdays for all you can eat grilled fish and meat. PLus it is steps away from the beach at Playa Lagun.
The house is located near all the best beaches- Grote Knip, Jeremi, Porto Mari, Kalki, Cas Abou- they were all so beauitful!

My husband and I have traveled extensively around the Caribbean Islands over the last 25 years and I have to say hands down this has been the best VRBO and Island experience we have ever had.
The home that we rented was extremely well stocked with everything we needed, from wine openers, beach towels, beautiful cookware, super comfortable beds, air conditioning in the bedrooms, gorgeous ocean views from the entire back of the home, ocean access right out the back door with amazing snorkeling right there. There is an outdoor bathroom and shower facility so you can go right from your ocean snorkeling adventure and shower off before you head back in for dinner.
Bart, the property owner and manager couldn't have been more attentive, responsive and most importantly honest. If you are looking for the perfect get away property with your family that you can feel comfortable, safe, and oh so spoiled, this is the property for you! It's so NICE!

House is amazing! Photos don't do it justice! If you are looking for peace, quiet, relaxation, and amazing sunsets this is the place to be. House has everything you need for a relaxing trip! This is our second trip to this house and it definitely won't be our last.

We absolutely loved our stay at Barts house! He met us at the property when we arrived and showed us around. The house is beautiful and the view off the back deck is breathtaking. I would stay there again if we ever have the opportunity to go back to Curacao!

Our party of 6 had a wonderful stay at this property. The location is great for beach hopping on the island's western side (where all the best beaches are located), and we loved having the ability to go snorkeling right off the back patio and then swim a short distance to Lagun Beach, which is one of our favorites. The view at sunset is heavenly. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet beach getaway.

Couldn't have asked for a nicer contemporary home with a better view (right on the ocean), comfortable bed and lots of quality amenities. It was a real hot-box however as the AC is only in the bedrooms, and unfortunately you can't open the doors or windows in the main areas of the house and kitchen without getting bitten to death by mosquitos because there are no screens on the doors or windows in these areas. Ceiling fans provided very limited ventilation. Thankfully, on our 2nd day we purchased a large fan in a local store which resolved the situation. Otherwise we wouldn't have survived the heat and bugs and probably left early. Hopefully the fan will still be there for other guests to enjoy.
We did enjoy the beautiful ocean sunsets, beach chairs (which we took to local beaches), a well appointed kitchen (English instructions for the oven / cooktop would have been helpful), roomy bathrooms (with good water pressure), good wi-fi, a nice large TV (instructions for accessing the channel network would have been helpful), a compact washer / dryer, a charcoal BBQ grill, and availability of a US power outlet in each room.
The host Bart was exceptionally helpful, greeting us on arrival and sending an electrician when the bedroom AC unit stopped working one evening. We tremendously enjoyed the nearby beaches and restaurants, as this is a beautiful area of the island which benefits from being a bit remote.

Bart was so kind and helpful. He was easy to reach and greeted us when we arrived. He made spot on recommendations for food and sights to see. The property is a paradise. The water was amazing and we could snorkel to the local beach which never had more than 10-12 people and so many underwater sights to see. We could not have asked for a better place to spend our anniversary. The sunset from the balcony alone was worth the trip. Hope to make it back soon.

We booked this away from the downtown. Actually, we found few beaches nearby that's super beautiful. House is nice and we enjoyed our stay at the house. Only 1 restaurant nearby though. The host is very nice. I am sorry that I had him waited for our arrival for so long cuz we were lost. GPS didn't work too well. Thank-you!!

Bart was a great host, very accommodating. The house was great but for one thing ,only the bedrooms are air conditioned. When it is 89*f and the humidity is 70%. that is sweltering even with a breeze. We loved everything else about the house, but would not return to it because of that.

Three Weeks of Relaxation
The house is located on the ocean with beautiful views and gentle winds. It was clean and comfortable for four adults to share. Bedrooms had air conditioning and screens. Apparently we came during mosquito season and had to close up the house to avoid becoming anemic from blood lose. The breeze was generally enough to keep them away outside during most of the day. Who want to be inside when you're in such a beautiul location anyway.
We enjoyed the Lagun and Westpunt areas of Curacao and being out of the busy city area. It was a drive to get to bigger grocery stores when needed, but that was expected. We used that time to explore other areas.

Lagun 44, Incredible
We stayed at this property for nearly 2 weeks to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. It was incredible in every respect. The house is extremely comfortable and the access to the ocean is amazing. There is even U.S. and European outlets all over. The outside space is just perfect to hang out in, eat a meal or relax after a dive. We even did a couple of scuba dives right off of the back ladder along with many swims and snorkels. Bart met us for check in and check out and contacted us a couple of times throughout our stay to ensure that everything was excellent. The house is also situated within walking distance of 2 excellent restaurants and 2 dive shops. I highly recommend Discover Lagun Restaurant and Dive Shop for both food and scuba. The shop owners are awesome and the food is great. The Wednesday "All you can eat" night is awesome and really fun, Make sure to get a reservation. I honestly cant think of anything I would have changed.

Wonderful home
Our week at this home was fantastic. The views from the lanai are breathtaking. The home is beautiful and very comfortable. We had a wonderful time spending hours at night watching the star, listening to the waves, and enjoying the trade winds.
The location was perfect for us. The west side of Curaçao is known for its beaches. It is far less tourist-y, but that means the restaurant options are limited in the area. Most restaurants close at 8-9pm and kitchens will close early on a particularly slow night. The drive to Willemstad is about 30 minutes if you wanted a later dinner or to go shopping. That is also where you will find the larger grocery stores. Lagun is a little town situated around some of the most gorgeous beaches you have ever seen. If your goal is to simply relax at the beach during your stay, this is an idea home. But be aware that renting a car is a necessity.
We couldn’t have been more happy with this home and our vacation. The owner was really responsive via the VRBO app and even came to the home to fix a WiFi issue one evening. We would absolutely rent from the Schuttes again.

Stunning home in great location
I never wanted to leave. The house was absolutely beautiful, well maintained, spotlessly clean. We were so comfortable there. The view is stunning and while it's a tall ladder to enter and exit the ocean, it's very sturdy. The water out front is amazing and the reef is very beautiful for snorkeling and diving. The owner was great and we felt very taken care of. Would love to stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful waterfront home on Curacao.

Great hotel alternative
This was our third stay at this property. It still looks and feel brand new, but one important feature that I would like to highlight is that it feels really safe in the pandemic time. You do not have to interact with other people during your stay, you can use the washing machine to wash your clothes and the provided linen/towels; you can prepare your meals yourself; and you can swim/snorkel right from your backyard.
Because of the pandemic, the beaches in Curacao were not crowded, nor was the pedestrian part of Willemstad. All of these made for a pleasant stay. And Bart was incredible as usual, helping us to print our PCR test results for our return flight home.

Perfect stay in Lacun
The house is a beautifully renovated property 5 min by walking from Lagun Beach, with direct access to the sea.
The kitchen is perfectly equipped to suite every needs, the living and the dining room are large (maybe more than appears on the photos) and decorated with very good taste.
The large terrace/deck is an ideal spot for sun bathing or for a sundowner drink.
There is a good sense of privancy, even if privacy is not 100% guaranteed due to the proximity of the neighborhood on the left (btw lovely guys ) and the building site on the right.
The bedrooms are large, with comfy beds and a/c.
A minor issue is related to the barking dogs at night.
The stretch of sea in front of the house is amazingly crystal clear and offers wonderful snorkel chances. We saw turtles many times just meters from the house.
The access to water is via a ladder that can be challenging for elderly people or people with mobility problems.
Definitely a super good choice if your are looking for a vacation rental close to the most beautiful beaches of Curaçao and also attractive enough to spend hours just sipping your wine looking at the beautiful seascape in front of you.

Just as advertised! Very nice personal contact with the landlord. We had a pleasant stay and can recommended to anyone, who seeks the privacy, that can not be found when staying in a hotel or resort! The house was fully stocked, clean and comfortable!
There are very nice beaches close by. Our favorite was Klein Knip. Playa Lagun was nice to, but a bit to crowded for our taste.
With regard to restaurants, we can recommend Discover Lagun (5 min. walk), Jaanchie in Westpunt (10 min. drive) and Shelterrock Paradiese (8 min. drive, off the road to Barber).
For quick shopping the Centrum Market in Barber is sufficient. For groceries shopping in Willemstad we can recommend Centrum supermarket and the cost u less (Curaçao version of Costco), both are located on the westside and are about 30 min. away.

The Perfect Getaway!
We had a fantastic time during our stay in Lagun. We couldn't ask for a better place for 2 couples to enjoy a week without kids! The property is spectacular and the view is breathtaking. There are plenty of things to do on the island as well.

It was an amazing visit. One of the most beautiful homes on the island with amazing views, private sunrise and sunset, and wonderful home owners.
This location on the island is priceless, many private like beaches within 10 minutes.
We started thinking about coming back again before we even left.

Great vacation location
We enjoyed our time in Lagun, Curacao. The house is very comfortable, clean, well maintained, and stocked with essentials. We found it to be conveniently located to several beaches and spectacular views.
The owners were very helpful especially in providing directions when we first arrived.

Not your typical VRBO rental
This is not your typical Caribbean VRBO rental. Why? Bart and his family have designed this beautiful villa as a vacation home for themselves, and this feels. The rooms are spacious, the ceilings are high, the furniture is new, the linens are 100% cotton, the TV is huge with a cable that covers all over the world (100+ US channels, 300+ UK channels and so on), the kitchen appliances are first class, the cutlery is Solingen (we love sharp knives). There is no typical rental nickel- and-diming with the generous supply of cleaning and hygienic products at your disposal. We even found the villa to be suitable to those mobility-challenged as it is essentially a single-level property, although on the veranda there are a couple of stairs that a full-time wheelchair person would have difficulty to navigate. The property certainly stands out on the street which makes it easy to find.
One suggestion that we have for Bart is to install a screen on the kitchen window, which would make it easier to ventilate the kitchen while keeping some flying guests at bay.
Some practical tips:
Complete the ED card online before flying to Curacao – that will save you time in the airport.
You can buy fresh fish from the fishermen in Playa Lagun nearby – they come with the catch at about 12:30 pm. Alternatively, drive to Playa Grandi.
If you are snorkeling, Playa Lagun will offer you whatever is available on the entire island, and with no crowds in the morning.
Check cruise ship time table before visiting Willemstad. You do not want to share the city with thousands of cruisegoers.
Electricity on the Island is expensive: about 50 US cents/kwh. Please turn off appliances and especially a/c that you are not using. This will help keep the rent reasonable.

We loved everything about our stay.
Beautiful home, clean,spacious comfortable beds. stocked with everything you need for the week.(just fill the fridge) Bart is super, left us alone but was there if we needed him. Sunsets on the deck were amazing, snorkeling out back and over to the beach was awesome. We will be back!

A beautiful oasis

Super Villa, direkt am Meer mit eigenem Zugang
Wir haben 14 unvergessliche Tage in der tollen Villa verbracht, die uns sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet nach kurzer Einweisung übergeben wurde. Sie liegt direkt am Meer, wunderbare Sonnenuntergänge, eine riesige Terrasse und direkter Zugang zum Schwimmen und Schnorcheln sind inklusive! Für kleine Kinder oder in ihrer Bewegung eingeschränkte Personen ist die Leiterkonstruktion ins Meer eine Herausforderung. Die Villa liegt als Neubau in einer gewachsenen kleinen Ortschaft. Ein Mietwagen ist erforderlich - vorzugsweise ein SUV wegen der Straßenverhältnisse. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für Lebensmittel liegen etwas weiter entfernt. Dafür wird man mit einer ruhigen Lage und der Nähe zu wunderbaren Stränden wie Lagun, Knip, Cas Abao, Kalki belohnt. Die Kommunikation gestaltete sich vor und während des Aufenthaltes unkompliziert und sehr freundlich. Die Rücküberweisung der Kaution erfolgte zügig. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können die Villa absolut empfehlen!

Beautiful home and close to the dive shop.
The home is beautiful. It would be nice to have AC in the den and kitchen areas. The slate on the back deck was slippery when wet. Overall, we had a great time.

Ein tolles Haus, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, direkter Zugang zu Meer (für Schwimmer)
Ein Traum auf einer Trauminsel. Das Haus ist genau wie beschrieben!! Es fehlte an nichts! Bart und Geneve sind tolle Gastgeber! Ein Auto ist erforderlich, da das Haus relativ weit im Norden der Insel liegt. Zum nächsten Supermarkt (im europäischen Sinne) ist es eine gute halbe Stunde. Kleinere Supermärkte gibt es überall an den Straßen. Vertrauen Sie auf Barts tipps. Sie sind sehr gut!!

Exactly what we were hoping for.
Our family of 6 stayed at Bart and Geneve's house in Lagun in June 2018. It was perfect! Three comfortable bedrooms, well appointed kitchen and living room, large private patio with barbecue, outdoor shower, and bathroom, and direct access to the ocean. The beds are comfortable, and each of the bedrooms has an AC to keep you cool at night. WOW. Everything is in great condition. This place is a dream, and we can't wait to visit again. It is obvious Bart and Geneve really care about this place.
Its kind of hard to tell about the ladder to the ocean by the pics, but its really easy to use. Most of the time, we'd just jump off the ledge into the water, its probably 8 feet or so, and use the ladder to climb back out. Plus, you can snorkel or swim from the ladder over to Lagun beach and see some cool stuff on the way. Its a fun evening activity to swim over to Lagun beach, have a cocktail at Bahia, then walk home.
The street the house is on has the usual mix places, from the occasional shanty to really big ocean-front houses. In all, we felt perfectly safe.
As for mosquitoes, which I noticed in some reviews, I didn't notice any more, or less, here than in other Caribbean islands, and I have definitely been in places where they are way worse. Off works fine for them. If it were my place, I'd get a few zappers up and running inside, but not really a big deal.
We were on the fence regarding staying at a resort vs a house, and we are so glad we chose the latter. While I love maid and room service and all the buzz that resorts offer, it's hard to beat a quiet sunset overlooking the ocean with your family after a busy day swimming, diving, and exploring. Our main activity was SCUBA diving, and there are several really nice reefs within 15 minutes of the house. Plus, there is a garage to stow your gear in while it airs out in the evenings.
In all, it was exactly what we had hoped for and we look forward to our next visit, which will hopefully be sooner than later.

Very comfortable
We very much enjoyed our time in Curacao and in Lagun. The home has all the mod cons, although the labels/instructions are sometimes in Dutch. Bart was prompt in meeting and leaving us. The ladder down to the water for the fantastic snorkelling will be a bit strange for all guests and is probably inappropriate for those 10 or less. That said, the swimming and snorkelling was excellent. The view from the deck is impressive and all sorts of marine life can be seen going by. The one downside we experienced was the mosquitos and houseflies. As it is very much open air living, it is impossible to keep bugs out. Even in rooms where we kept the doors and windows closed, the mosquitos got in. There had been several days of rainy weather, and all of the neighbours have long grass which may partly explain the number of mosquitos. The only solution seemed to be wearing repellent all the time, and still we were bitten. Should we return to Curacao, we will certainly have this property as the first place we look.
