There are wide windows to enjoy the garden views and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating and is decorated with an collection of original artwork by Maritime artists The hand-crafted kitchen is a chef's delight with new state-of-the-art appliances, stone countertops and a view of the ocean. Your dining companions can enjoy a drink around the island while you prepare fresh lobster caught by local fisherman in Indian Harbour. The dining table can seat twelve and there are three stools around the island. Downstairs there is a comfortable den with a large L-shaped sofa, where you can kick back and watch a movie on the flat screen TV (Roku enabled) or quietly read a book. There is a laundry room and a walk out to the garden from this level. The master bedroom is just a few steps up from the living room, just past a powder room. This bright and spacious suite boasts a private balcony, perched above the garden, and has a comfortable queen sized bed. A walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom (with soaker tub and tiled shower) complete this comfortable room. Upstairs there are a further three bedrooms; one with a queen sized bed and the other with a double bed, which share a four piece bathroom, with a shower/tub combo. There are two staircases (one's a secret staircase) that lead to the fourth bedroom - a fun and quirky room for the kids, with a small play area and two twin beds. The detached guest cottage is the perfect place for a couple to stay if they want privacy and is also perfect for parents with a baby or toddler. It is a restored stone barn, and the original thick rock walls are still intact. The cottage is bright and loaded with character. There is a bedroom with a queen sized bed and a separate living room, with L-shaped sofa and a table and chairs. A modern bathroom, with tiled shower and ceiling shower-head, complete this unique space. Outside, there is a spacious deck which is the perfect place to relax, watch the ocean, and enjoy a glass of wine from one of Nova Scotia's many award-winning wineries. Maybe you'll see hummingbirds looking for nectar in the garden while you enjoy your morning coffee or pick out the constellations at night over a glass of wine from one of Nova Scotia's award winning wineries. The table on the deck seats up to 10 under and a gas grill makes outdoor dining easy. Feel free to pick some fresh herbs and lettuce from the kitchen garden, they are plentiful! The gardens surrounding the house are filled with paths leading to the rugged waterfront - the perfect place to look for seaglass and hermit crabs - or put on a wetsuit and snorkel in the crystal clear waters. When you're done exploring, relax with a book in the shade of the waterfront gazebo. It's a picture worth a thousand words!

We were family of 8 women. Sisters, mothers daughters and nieces. The space was huge,And cozy at the same time. 3 bathrooms in the main house made for no having to wait in line ! Lol Unfortunately it rained all weekend so we didn’t get to really enjoy the outside property as much as we would have liked. Our host was great and quick to reply. Easy check in. We will probably be back , we enjoyed it that much.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped with a great variety of plants and proximity to the water. I think I even spotted onggi-like crock in the ground?! The house is spacious and accommodates a group well. Our stay was prematurely ended by Hurricane Fiona's impending arrival, but we still think the property management could benefit from learning about a few improvements. These are a few points I'd like to share because we thought the $$$$ cost of the rental should've reflected these. Please- - Absolutely ensure there is on-site drinking water available prior to guest arrival. We didn't use the tap/well water as requested by the property management, so we had to drive back out to Tantallon to get water. - Replace blown lightbulbs in the house, especially in key areas such as the bathroom and kitchen prep areas. Or, leave the home booklet (nowhere to be found) and supplies in a common easy to find area, so guests can replace the bulbs themselves. - Notify guests of the ongoing problems with the house prior to their arrival. The kitchen stove was not in good working order and drastically impacted our stay. The gas would keep going out on multiple burners, so we could only reliably use one burner. Unfortunately that one working burner was the high BTU one, which made it difficult to cook anything below a high sear. - Inspect the house cleaning before guest arrival. The cabinets and drawer handles and faces were very sticky and visibly dirty. The first time we pre-heated the oven, it filled with smoke because of old food (oil?) in the bottom of the oven. The bath linens also strongly smelled of mildew, so we needed to wash all of them prior to using. Overall, we fully acknowledge it was just nice to have a roof over our heads, beds for sleeping, and a pretty view. Thank you for the opportunity to rent this property.

Lovely home and extraordinary coastal landscaping.
Lovely home and extraordinary coastal landscaping.
Very clean, aesthetically pleasing home. Interesting original art and comfortable furnishings. Very much enjoyed the wood-burning stove and the comfortable, oceanside deck. We have been to many mid-range to high-end rentals and this one had the cleanest and best-working gas grill.

If you choose Sea Garden, you'll be choosing a top-notch oceanfront home rental in a highly desirable area. The home is wonderfully appointed all around - the listing photos capture it very well - with highlights being the private master suite, the lovely upstairs 3 bedrooms (they share one bath), the spacious living spaces, kitchen, dining, powder room, etc. There's a cozy basement reading and media room with a wood burning stove. And of course, there is the private guest cottage. Lovely. While the structure has references to an older, authentic seaside home, it has clearly the modern and clean kitchen and baths that make for creature comforts. Beyond the structure, you will be treated to an award-winning garden and peaceful oceanfront. On our last night there, a seal decided to have dinner on a rock! We offered her a nice Chenin Blanc to accompany her catch, but she declined and decided to be on her way. The location of Sea Garden within minutes of Peggy's Cove, the peaceful memorial to those who died in the 1998 Swiss Air 111 crash, and restaurants such as Rhubarb's and L'Acadie. Sea Garden is also just 40 minutes or so to all the amenities of Halifax. With any review, I will always have a suggestion or two for the property owner/manager. In this case as with so many home rentals, the kitchenware could be upgraded a little (Sea Garden is actually better than most in my opinion) and be a little more organized. Aside from any small improvements, you cannot go wrong with this rental! Lovely, peaceful, dramatic, and comfortable. You will get the rest and peace and beauty you came to Nova Scotia to experience.
