Boutique hotel in the heart of Santa Teresa

Beautiful and spotless facilities; outstanding breakfast; interior design was beautiful and sophisticated. Gabriel and Claudio were fantastic hosts and really made us feel at home and welcomed. The rest of the staff were also professional and caring.

Pool and breakfast of dreams

This must be one of the most gorgeous swimming pools in all of Rio - so relaxing! The breakfast was also amazing and all the staff and owners were so kind, thoughtful and attentive. I’ll be back for carnival!!

A blissfully perfect oasis in the midst of a wonderful and vibrant district away from the crowds of Ipanema and Copacaba

Absolutely everything about this wonderful place is so well thought out and perfectly executed. Claudio and Gabriel’s attention to detail and commitment to providing an excellent experience to their guests is faultless. Our room was stylish and beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly want and more, the plunge pool was a fantastic feature along with the two outdoor seating areas providing additional space for relaxing after a busy Rio day. The breakfast, as other reviewers have said, is utterly sublime not just with different dishes but also stunning crockery that changes daily along with the menu - all 5 courses of it! I could go on… and on… but needless to say, our stay was perfect and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Also, don’t be put off by the rather outdated safety worries on the internet regarding Santa Teresa, it is a wonderful district and a great alternative to the tourist favourites of the beaches. As with anywhere in Rio, care must be taken but we happily walked around both day and night with no problems.

An absolute paradise in Rio!

We had the most incredible stay at Casa Geranio. The property and rooms are beautiful, and lots of attention is paid to maintain this standard. The pool area is gorgeous, such a tranquil paradise in the bustle of Rio. We loved seeing the Marmosets in the morning! The breakfast was really tasty, and it changed everyday which was a nice surprise. The service at breakfast was very good. Claudio gave us great advice on what to do, and where to go, including restaurant and bar recommendations. We are also given helpful advice on how to stay safe in the city. The rooms are lovely, with everything you could need. They also feel very private. The property in general feels very safe and secure. The attention to detail that Claudio and his team put into making your stay at Casa Geranio extra special is incredible and I would love to visit again!

The local area is a bit dodgy, make sure you follow the directions given by Claudio as these are the main busy streets, don’t blindly follow google maps.

Breakfast was exceptional and very beautifully presented. The swimming area had amazing view to city!

Our room was dark and had very limited view. We left in afternoon but we were not allowed to use swimming pool area after 11.00 am what was really strange

An experience in Rio

Everything. We spent our last night in Rio in Casa Geranio. It’s definitely worth and it is a completely different experience compared to our hotels in Rio. Comfortable rooms, amazing fresh breakfast, excellent staff, welcoming atmosphere. The building is amazing.

Incredible

The breakfast was superb, something different and fresh each day. Presented exceptionally and served by wonderful staff. The casa is kept immaculate, the pool is unreal and just an amazing place to stay. Incredible views, brilliant hosts. If you’re debating staying, don’t debate, do it! Thanks guys!

gorgeous, quiet and outstanding breakfasts!

beautiful restored mansion (the old architectural details are gorgeous) with stunning contemporary pool and outdoor lanai-type seating area. everything is impeccably maintained. Claudio and Gabriel are excellent hosts. the breakfast is outstanding. we stayed four nights in Gingebre Suite which we loved: spacious; great shower. glad we opted for this boutique hotel in Santa Teresa - it’s not “staying at the beach” but gives you a wonderful Rio experience. easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit from the hotel.

A perfect stay with the most incredible hosts

Breakfast is delicious and changes every day, fresh fruit, great coffee and yummy pastries. The pool has amazing views, great common areas and the hosts (Gabriel and Claudio) are amazing! This is the only place we are recommending in Rio. Perfection.

It felt like home.

Everything about Casa Geranio is exceptional, the breakfast was gorgeous, the attention to detail, the personal touches. But by far the best thing about Casa Geranio is it’s beautiful hosts, Claudio and Gabriel. Their stories, their insight, and all their helpful information, they are really all you can hope for in a host. Thank you Claudio and Gabriel, it was a pleasure meeting you, we hope to be back one day in the future!

Perfect in every way

Everything about Casa Geranio was perfect. The location was great, the rooms were incredibly beautiful, the pool had a fantastic view, the breakfast was fresh and different every day (it was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had), and everything was pristine. What made Casa Geranio elevated above so many other places we have stayed were the owners, who knew Rio so well and gave us wonderful recommendations. All staff members were so friendly and welcoming. We could not have wished for better, and we have already recommended this place to all our friends. If we ever come back to Rio we will not hesitate to stay here. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.

Just perfect! Thank you Claudio and Gabriel!

It is almost impossible to describe how great this small hotel (5 rooms, more like a luxury B&B) is. During our trip to Brazil we stayed in total 6 nights in Casa Geranio - at the beginning and the end. It really felt like home to us and we were sad to leave. Claudio and Gabriel are incredible hosts and made this stay really special, helping to navigate the city, with restaurant recommendations and transport options. The breakfast is the best ever, the awareness for details is insane, the lounge and pool areas are embedded into a beautiful garden, the bed is super comfy and everything comes with a great view above Rio. Words and pics can’t do this place justice.

Casa Geranio is a beautiful oasis in Santa Teresa! Our hosts were so thoughtful and helpful, and added so many special touches to our stay. The rooms were very comfortable, the views are excellent, and the breakfast was delicious!

The hotel is a bit further of a walk from central Santa Teresa than I expected.

a lovely guest house in a quiet area overlooking the city

This is a lovely guest house, if you're wanting to stay in the Santa Teresa area. It's very easy to walk everywhere and felt safe at night with a few bars and restaurants a short walk away. The room was small and simple, but comfortable and the breakfast was amazing.

When we arrived the guest house arranged a taxi for us from the airport to the guest house and charged us 250 reais which was more than double what it should have been. very bit disappointing

Peaceful luxury in the heart of Rio

This house hotel was everything we had hoped and more. Claudio and Gabriel were fantastic hosts, being both perfectly attentive but also allowing us the privacy to enjoy ourselves. We had the suite with the private pool and the room was stunning. Wonderfully designed and appointed with a fabulous view of the city. Oh, and the breakfasts were second to none!!!

Little paradise in the busy and hot Rio.

Casa Geranio is full of charm, love for details, everything is well thought through and convenient. The hosts do look for high quality of the interior, products for breakfast and service. It felt like a little paradise in one of the most beautiful parts of Rio. The location is perfect with an amazing view over Rio by day and by night. We hope to come back once again.

Best place in Rio

Such an amazing place! Casa Geranio is located in Santa Teresa which is one of the best neighbourhood in Rio. You have a lot of restaurants and bars all around and you can do almost everything on foot. The hotel is really clean and our room was too. The garden is incredible, with a lots of birds and animals like small monkeys. Every morning a fresh breakfast is served on the terrace surrounded by the beautiful garden. Fresh fruit juice, fresh fruits, fresh bakery etc.. and every morning you’ll have different products. It’s easily one of the best breakfast we ever had. The owners, Claudio and Gabriel are such kind and helpful people! If you need anything during your stay, if you have any questions, they are here to help you anytime. If I come back to Rio I’ll definitely come back to Casa Geranio. I felt like home during all my stay.

Stylish property with exceptional service

Exceptional property in laidback Santa Teresa managed by the sympathetic owners Gabriel and Claudio. Beautifully restored neoclassical house set in a lush garden. Super delicious breakfast served on the terrace with hummingbirds and small monkeys moving among the surrounding trees. Unfortunately we were too busy visiting Rio´s many attractions to make use of the beautiful pool and lounge area so we will have to come back soon. Highly recommended.
