it was unfortunate that we did not know that the kitchen was closed for refurb before we booked. a recommendation for an alternative pub serving food was made, which was fine.

Staff were friendly enough. Location of the hotel was good & offered free parking as well. Good room size. Bathroom was nicely kept, including the cleanliness.

The entire pub seemed a quite dated (including the smell). The room could have been better cleaned, as it would have benefitted from a quick hoover (or replace the entire carpet which could be the source of the smell throughout the establishment) & airing out from leaving the window open. The bed sheets weren't very clean, my pillow had a black foot print on it which was a bit strange.

When we arrived we were told that the kitchen was closed because of a gas problem which meant we couldn’t have a cooked breakfast or evening meal on site . If we had known this we would have stayed elsewhere. When we left there was a sign saying chef wanted!

Location was perfect for our intended purpose. nice location by the canal. Double room nice enough with tea and coffee making facilities and tv. good shower. We ate in the bar and had a nice meal. staff really friendly and helpful. chef came out to ask if meals were ok.

The twin room my boys had was a little ‘dungeon’-like however they said it was adequate and the shower was great. breakfast very disappointing as were told on arrival there was no cooked breakfast due to a function next day. A basic continental-style breakfast was brought to the room the night before at 9pm. unfortunately as a celiac I could only eat a yoghurt, so was hungry.

Room was spacious, warm, comfortable and lovely bath & shower. Evening meal excellent and good value for money. Staff excellent and very helpful.

The room was a great size, warm, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar had a great atmosphere in the evening when the band was playing but luckily couldn’t be heard from the room.

The food was a disappointment. Many items on the menu were not available. We asked for two steak pies but were given one vegetarian and one steak - not that it made much difference as there was hardly any filling in them anyway! (We were given a free large glass of wine for their error) They were advertising for chefs so hopefully this is just a temporary problem.

Stayed here to visit the Xmas lights at Blenheim. Pub was quirky, staff were friendly, location was fabulous for what we needed. The accomodation was a little tired but warm on a cold night. The price was very reasonable and the breakfast was amazing. Would certainly stay again and try the walk along the canal into Oxford.

The Highwayman is perfect for me as I travel to Oxford frequently for work. It is a literal stone throw away from the business park where I work, after which I can retire to a pint, a home cooked lasagna and a comfortable night, then roll out of bed to a continental breakfast in my room, and be in the office bright and early the following morning. All for a very reasonable price. I just wish I had time to try the cooked breakfasts, as apparently they're amazing! :)

The beds are quite basic, and the duvets and mattresses might be on the firm side for some. Personally, I'd be happy with a warm room and a sleeping bag, but I am paying for a bed, and a bed is what I am getting, so that's fair.

Room was great! very spacious and clean. perfect for a short stay :) staff were lovely and food was great!

Small fridge for milk. Shower needed a non slip mat. Instructions on how to use the shower taps. Coat hook on the back of the door would be useful.

Location was excellent for our weekend at Blenheim Palace and Christmas market. It was excellent value for Money. Staff were polite and informative. Breakfast lunch and dinner were excellent value for money and very tasty.

Could have done with some blankets as we were there when it was snowing and freezing cold.

The breakfast was well cooked and good quality produce. I liked the fact that it was served at the table. A selection of fresh juices was available and quality bread and jams and toaster. There was an alternative of continental breakfast. The room was spacious with a lovely view, clean and tastefully decorated.

A small hotel with loads of character. No mod cons, but large, clean room, big bathroom, big free car park, nice beer garden and excellent food. Breakfast cooked to order, ample choice for the vegan and vegetarians in my family

Helpful staff and a nice pub dinner on the lawn while weather was good. Easy parking, spacious room, good value for money. Both kid and pet friendly.

Some of the facilities were a little dated and we were sadly not able to get breakfast served before heading to Blenheim Palace for our triathlon which was a little tricky. Thankfully we had packed plenty of snacks!
