Situated in Holualoa, this attractive condo for $202 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. vrKCV - Casa de Emdeko 212, Professionally Managed by Kona Coast Vacations Casa De Emdeko 212 - New Floors Throughout and Fully Remodeled Bathroom in 2022! Enjoy a wonderful Hawaiian experience while staying in our condo at the ocean front complex of Casa de Emdeko. We lived in the condo while renovating and redecorating it, and we came to love our unit and everything that the complex has to offer. It has truly become a Home Away From Home for us. The well stocked kitchen has a breakfast bar, dishes and silverware for 12, complete cooking utensils, tea kettle, lettuce spinner, dishwasher, fridge with ice maker, coffee grinder/maker, vacuum, iron, ironing board and wireless internet including free long distance calls to US and Canada. The bedroom offers a queen size bed and there is a queen size sofa pullout bed in the living room as well. The bathroom that is off the bedroom, features a double sink and shower. There are ceiling fans throughout and the air conditioning creates an even more pleasant experience when needed. The lanai features a dining table and a view of the ocean while enjoying your meals. Having a washer and dryer in the unit is an added convenience. With a view from the covered lanai, you can many times spot whales and dolphins. The complex features two pools, one pool on the ocean's edge and one mid way through the property. One of the highlights is joining others at the sea wall each evening, watching the sunset from the palm tree lined beach area. At night the sound of the ocean waves is a nice way to lull you to sleep. The beautiful grounds are meticulously manicured, and we've never seen so many varieties of hibiscus in one place. Casa de Emdeko offers a great barbecue/eating/gathering area around the large covered cabana (10 tables), where you can watch the surf while barbecuing. The lighting of tiki torches in the evening really adds to the ambience. Everyone staying there (owners and guests alike) are so friendly, you experience a true feeling of Aloha. For those who enjoy walking, our condo is on the ocean side of popular Alii Drive about 1 ½ miles south of Kailua-Kona – and you can take your morning walk to enjoy a cup of coffee in Kona town. There are many activities on the Big Island and specifically on the ocean front Alii Drive. There is a handy Convenience/Sundries store adjacent to the complex where you can purchase your morning newspaper or an evening bottle of wine. The Keauhou Shopping Center is just 3 miles to the south complete with KTA Grocery Store, Cinemas, Longs Drug Store, Restaurants, Medical Offices and Friday night free hula shows. Within a few miles is some of the best snorkeling on the Island at Kahalu'u Bay, a white sands (Magic Sands) beach at La'aloa Park and the historic Living Stones Church, just a few blocks away. Other activities can be found at konaconcierge.net. We are confident you will find our condo unit clean, comfortable and relaxing. We wish you a wonderful time in our version of Hawaii paradise. Maintenance Notice: The Association will be renovating tower walkways with work scheduled to begin on approximately June 1st 2023. The construction period is expected to last for approximately 2 months. The stacks ending in 24-26 are being directly affected (North Building, does not affect the south building where 212 is located), neighboring units should expect construction noise and dust. I really enjoyed this property and the location of the condo complex. It is about 10 minutes drive south of Kailua Village. Pros: comfortable, clean unit. Free parking, mostly available. Very nice pools — One saltwater on the ocean’s edge. Cons: self check-in with no staff on site (i was traveling alone, so I would have welcomed staff — available by phone only). Ocean view was peak-a-view at best, some of the photos are out of date: floors have been updated and the bathtub removed (but shower is nice), no dining on site (but a convenient store for essentials fronts the property). Biggest annoyance was weekly water shut offs with only short notice (it fell on my check out day so I had to vacate the condo very early in the morning). Also, I had asked if there were beach chairs, umbrellas etc. I was told no because the management company is concerned about liability. So before I checked in I had purchased some items to use while I was there, only to find that there were indeed beach chairs and an umbrella. I would rather sign a hold-harmless agreement than be told that there is nothing available for me to use and have a needless expense. Bottom line, I would stay at this property again if not traveling alone, but I would choose a unit with a better view.

Wonderful, calm oasis in paradise!
From the time we booked through to checkout, communication with the booking management team was excellent. The address is Ali’i Drive, but the complex is set well back and you would never know you were close to a busy road. Check-in was a breeze, the condo is really well-stocked and has ample cooking utensils, cutlery & dishes etc. even for people who don’t want to dine out. The covered patio has a view of the ocean and grounds, the communal barbecue area is well-lit, two pools and the sandy “beach” area immaculately maintained, there are ample outdoor shaded areas to socialize, and there is a very calm/quiet atmosphere about the entire complex. A perfect spot for people seeking a calm oasis, and for families with young children; perhaps not so much for people who vacation in ‘party hardy’ mode! Outstanding property management and communication, as well. The condo is 1.3 miles from the ‘downtown’ area with shops, restaurants, etc.; a trolley service runs along the length of Ali’i would make it quite do-able to stay without a vehicle. and easily get to restaurants and shops. The ONLY drawback for us was that we like to walk everywhere, but the only way to walk to the ‘downtown’ area is on a narrow walking lane marked on the busy road, and that didn’t feel safe to us.

My wife and I had a very pleasant stay here at casa de emdeko 212. We ended up staying 14 nights here. Everything we needed was supplied from kitchen accessories to the bathroom towels and hand soap. The unit was very tidy and we ran into no problems with it. The clothes washer and dryer was nice to have in unit. The large tv and wi-fi came in handy as well. The central A/C was very welcome for those hot days we had. From the lanai we had a good view to the ocean. We used the ocean side salt water pool many times during our stay, was very relaxing. In general, the surrounding property and "beach" area were very well maintained and clean. Being only 1.5 miles or so from downtown Kona, everything was close by that we needed, even a couple nice beaches too. The included beach chairs and cooler was used many times! Was nice to have those in the unit too. Was contacted by kona coast vacations on arrival asking if we had any issues, fortunately we didn't. Overall, it was a great stay for us, sad it had to end!

What a perfect getaway! This was our first time staying in Kona, and staying at Casa de Emdeko unit 212 helped to make it a relaxing and magical visit. We woke early each morning to greet the day, spending one morning out by the saltwater pool to meet the sunrise. We were a few miles from town, but only went into town a couple of times, spending most of our time on the beaches of Waimea. We didn't mind the drive at all, knowing we were returning to our peaceful unit. It was wonderfully air conditioned so we were comfortable during our entire stay and the unit was equipped with everything we could have needed. We cooked at least 1 of our meals in the home daily. We have been spending each year in Hawaii for our anniversary and we will never forget this year's stay at Casa de Emdeko.

Not ideal for us
This particular unit is basically a good unit with relatively decent furniture, a new large hi def TV, good WiFi, and updated kitchen. The complex is quiet at night. There is a salt water pool and a fresh water pool, both of which appear well maintained as are the grounds.
However, the very hard mattress on the bed is a huge minus for us. After one night on that mattress, we had to go to Target and pay $100 for a decent memory foam topper to provide us a decent night's sleep. The bedroom is on the front of the unit with windows facing the common walkway along which are lights that stay on all night. There are no drapes to close so the bedroom is never dark. If the owner would add a memory foam topper for the mattress and drapes to block the light, that would go a long way toward solving these two problems.
The complex is located a little over a mile from downtown Kailua-Kona - a walkable distance but you have to walk on the side of a fairly busy Alii Drive where there are no sidewalks - not a pleasant experience. Parking at the complex is not convenient. You have to park about 100 feet or more from the unit which is on the second floor. If you cannot negotiate stairs, this unit is not for you. There is an elevator that takes you to the second floor walkway, but it's at the front of the wing, and once on the second floor walkway, there are 3 sets of 4 steps down that you must use to get to the unit. We chose to walk down the drive way, which you cannot drive on, to the stairs closer to the unit and walk up to the second floor.
In our opinion, the location of Casa de Emdeko, the general layout of the complex, the hard mattress, and 24-7 lights shining in the bedroom window merit the low rating we gave.
If you want more privacy, less traffic and beautiful beaches, stay south in Keahou or Captain Cook. We spent a week in Captain Cook and a week at Kapoho near Pahoa and thoroughly enjoyed both. Our week at Casa de Emdeko was by far much less enjoyable.

We had a wonderful time; could have stayed longer. The condo was a tiny bit small but certainly well appointed. We purchased food and ate in most of the time. They had a fully stocked kitchen to cook in. We were very pleased with our choice. There were only 2 small things I would like to pass along: keep your counters cleaned off-- the tiniest ants invade-lots and lots of ants! The other thing was the stairs. When called I specifically asked for a room near the elevator due to medical issues. I was told that we were close to the elevator with 1-2 steps. That was very difficult to deal with. This condo I would definitely recommend. The seawater and chlorine pools were great. We sat on the lanai and watched the sun go down--don't miss this!

It was a great rental unit, with all the nice to haves. Tastefully furnished, and comfortable except for the bed...very hard mattress if you are not used to it rock hard don't stay..we dreaded going to bed. Sorry but really it was meant for a guest room where you are hoping the guests will leave after a couple days. The mattress also had a plastic mattress cover on it which added to the misery. OK enough about the bed we survived it. The kitchen had everything ...blender, rice maker, coffee bean grinder, even a few spices. In the cupboard there was laundry soap, beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler, snorkel gear, 4 beach towels and more. Another great feature was the screen door locked so you can have the balcony door open and the entrance screen providing that great sea breeze through the unit rather than the air conditioning. The large screen TV was great for the playoffs and I did see a sound system but we didn't use it. The grounds are well manicured and there is two pools salt or fresh water with a small beach and lounges scattered under palm trees, a BBQ common area if you feel like socializing, everyone seemed friendly. Andrew the manager lent us a great book on the island and helped with directions to local hot spots....a super nice person.

WE HAVE STAYED AT THE CASA FOR MANY YEARS. THIS IS OUR FIRST TIME IN CASA 212. THE UNIT WAS FINE EXCEPT FOR WE HAD CONSTANT VISITORS FOR THE ANT COMMUNITY. THE MICROWAVE IS VERY OLD BUT DOES WORK. ON THE POSITIVE SIDE THE TV IS A NEW 55 INCH WHICH I REALLY APPRECIATED. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THERE WAS NO CHANNEL GUIDE. IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO FIGURE OUT WHICH CHANNELS WERE WHICH. THE GROUNDS WERE BEAUTIFUL LIKE ALWAYS. WE ALWAYS ENJOY OUR TIME AT THE CASA COMPLEX.

We loved the apartment. The neighbors were friendly except for one lady, who asked where we were from. When we said NYC and Port Townsend, she replied with a negative comment "Just another Barrio". We didn't bother asking what Barrio she came from. The salt water pool was great, being right behind the break wall with waves crashing over and spraying into the pool. .
