About this house rental

Located in downtown Bar Harbor, just two short blocks from the Village Green, our house is the perfect getaway for a couple, a family, or a group of friends! The in-town location means nothing is more than a 10-minute walk from the front door, including restaurants, shopping, the waterfront, and the Island Explorer (free) shuttle buses - with numerous stops within Acadia! This historic "cottage" (ca. 1900) was designed by noted regional architect Fred L. Savage. There's even an historic marker at the end of the driveway! New last year: AIR CONDITIONING!!! Each of the three bedrooms upstairs now have wall-mounted units that provide cooling (and heating) controlled via remote. The house itself is two stories, with the bedrooms upstairs and living areas and kitchen on the ground floor. We have a large front porch with a picnic table, several Adirondack chairs, and a grill is available. The kitchen is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, a four-burner gas stove, two-basin sink, and a dishwasher. Small appliances include a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. We have plates, utensils, cups and glasses, pots and pans, and anything else needed to make and eat a meal. The dining room showcases the original wood floors and paneling, and a bay window with a bench seat. The dining room table can accommodate four people with ease, and the picnic table is a comfortable six. The master bedroom looks out onto one of the largest non-waterfront yards in town, and features a king size bed, two closets, two dressers, and two accent chairs. There is a door to an adjacent balcony "sun-room" with a huge window overlooking the side yard and trees. The balcony can also be accessed from the middle bedroom, which features a queen-sized bed, closet, and dresser. The third bedroom has two west-facing windows for great afternoon light, a full-sized bed, closet and dresser. The bathroom upstairs is also west-facing, with a tiled counter-top, and a tub/shower. The linen closet is stocked with extra pillows and blankets, additional sheets, and plenty of towels. There is TV and an AppleTV you may log into, and house-wide WiFi internet. The password is located on the refrigerator. A travel crib is available for guests with infants. Smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are placed throughout the house, and there are two fire extinguishers (one upstairs, one in the kitchen). A washer and dryer are located in the basement, should you need to do a load. We have plenty of FREE off-street parking; a hot commodity in Bar Harbor! The yard is big; a bit shy of a half-acre. The house is in a residential neighborhood, but is only one lot removed from Main Street. Atlantic Avenue is not a through-street, so traffic is minimal. People do tend to walk down the street because it's pretty, and because the historical marker at the end of the driveway is part of a Town-wide history project. If you want to explore Acadia, the best option is the Island Explorer shuttle system - pandemic dependent. They are FREE (donations accepted), they have dedicated stops at all major points of interest, and the driver will stop and let you out along the way if you ask. The shuttles have bike racks, but those fill up quickly, so it's good to be early. The shuttle "depot" is at the Village Green, next to the fire station. On the hall table guests will find a book of local recommendations on everything from where to get the best breakfast, to where to rent bicycles (The Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop), and includes recommended hikes, and points of interest. CONSIDERATIONS If you want to smoke, please do so outside and away from the house. The house is adjacent to a working bed and breakfast; please try to observe quiet time after 9pm. Individuals with mobility issues may find the stairs up to the porch a challenge, as there is no handrail. A bicycle touring company, Vermont Bicycle Tours (VBT), stores extra bicycles in the garage adjacent to the house. The guides occasionally come down the driveway to load/unload bikes, and we have a schedule of those occurrences listed in the house, for your information.

My family and I stayed at Stephanie’s property for a long weekend away and it was wonderful! The location of the property was right near town, but still a little off the main street so it was comfortable and quiet. The home provided us with plenty of space for all of us (5 grown adults) to stay and hang out. Stephanie was great the entire time and provided quick responses along with recommendations. I would absolutely stay here again as I know I’d have a fantastic trip!

Loved Bar Harbor and nearby Acadia. Home is ideally located for walking to shops/restaurants in Bar Harbor. House is comfortable and host is excellent to communicate with. Showers are small and could use better pillows but overall an enjoyable stay despite Hurricane Lee!

What a great home! Located just where we needed in town. Walking distance to shops, dining, shore path & the wharfs. Stephanie was so welcoming to our family and very easy to reach when we had any questions. The extended family members were very jealous of our setup. We will most certainly return to Atlantic Avenue.

We loved our stay in Bar Harbor. The house was exactly as described and the location was perfect. Everything in town was walkable and Acadia was a short 10 minute drive away. The AC in the bedrooms all worked and having s coffee shop right behind the house was perfect for the mornings. We would definitely stay again!

My family and I loved our stay in Stephanie’s beautiful home. 5 adults, 3 kids all stayed there very comfortably. The home is gorgeous and set in middle of town, just one road away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. It still feels very quiet and private, though, and there’s a huge yard that the kids loved playing in all week. Highly recommend if anyone is traveling to Bar Harbor!
