About this cottage rental

Welcome to Crow Bay Cottages. Come and visit this cozy (small), private, waterfront, boat access only cottage on Bobs Lake in Eastern Ontario's Land O'Lakes region. Enjoy your morning coffee in full sun or a glass of wine in the evening watching a beautiful sunset. About the Cottage - Located on in Crow Bay of Bobs Lake the two bedroom cottage (3rd bedroom is private air conditioned bunkie) sits feet from the water edge, perched atop a piece of Canadian Shield jutting out of the lake. One of the cottage's best features is its location and surrounding landscape. The cottage is located on the North mainland which is only accessible by boat, but not to worry it is only a 2 minute trip from the marina in the 2016 16 foot pontoon boat that is included for your stay. The pontoon is a perfect shuttle, great for cruising the lake and of course fishing. The North mainland is also referred to as Sunset Shores because of the magnificent sunset view you get. Additionally, because the cottage is built on top of the outcropping of Canadian Shield it has a perfect unobstructed view of the setting sun. I've stocked the kitchen with cooking condiments and equipped it with everything you need prepare meals for 10. Bob's Lake Area - Bobs Lake is a unique and beautiful part of Eastern Ontario, with hundred of kilometres of shoreline Bobs lake is an amazing lake to fish. Some of the confirmed fish species are Northern Pike, Large and Small Mouth Bass, Walleye, Black Crappies, and Bluegill and more. You can swim off the dock and for the adventurous there is a jumping rock just a few minutes away by boat. there is also small section of beach only three minutes boat ride from the cottage perfect for a picnic and plenty to explore for the paddlers. Sleeping Accommodations - A two bedroom plus bunkie and a cozy sleeping loft above the kitchen. In the main cottage, Bedroom 2 platform twin beds that can be joined into a short king. this bedroom has a door that opens onto the deck overlooking the lake. Bedroom 2 also has two twin platform beds that can be pushed together into a short king bed if desired. The 3rd bedroom has a queen and is located in the bunkie which sits just a little way up the hill side away from the activities of the main cottage. It's bright, has air conditioning and a comfortable queen bed. Over the kitchen, not depicted in the floor plan, is cozy single loft bed that can accommodate one adult or two children. The loft bed is accessible by down pull ladder. Additionally, the living room sofa easily folds down into a comfortable queen bed. Combined Crow Bay Cottage can sleep a maximum of 7 but fewer is always easier. it's a small place.. Kitchen and Cooking - I love cooking and II have made efforts to equip the cottage with everything you need to prepare a feast for your family and friends. The kitchen has your standard large appliances, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, stove/oven, but it also has a trash compactor for your convenience. You will find a good set of pots, pans, sharp knives, utensils and a host of cooking implements required to prepare meals. Some of the more interesting equipment includes a 6 in 1 digital pressure cooke. - I love this appliance! You can cook chilli or a whole chicken dinner 35 minutes, Osso Bucco or pull off the bone ribs in one hour. You also have large propane BBQ with roastery and sear station, a charcoal coal BBQ/smoker for those of you who like traditional BBQ. you will also find a complement of small countertop appliances including toaster oven, blender, mixer, food processor, and immersion blender. Of course we have coffee. I have selected one of the highest rated drip coffee machines, in terms of coffee quality, there is also a stainless steel percolator, if you prefer your old fashion coffee and a single cup Espresso coffee machine and milk steamer espresso, latte and cappuccino. Dining - Inside the main cottage there is a small dining table and chairs that can sit up to 6 or you can dine in the 11' x 12' screened deck at a rustic, handcrafted, by me, live edge, solid black walnut harvest table and enjoy meals with your family and friends. The table can seat 10 and the cottage comes with place settings for 10. Living Room - The living room is bright with vaulted ceilings. Two doors that lead to either the screened deck and main deck with a beautiful view of the lake. Here you can relax on the sofa and enjoy the large flat screen Satellite TV equipped with an Apple TV, Google Chromecast (you required your own account). On the colder nights theres a wood stove to keep the chill out. Screened Deck - After a day out on the lake you, your friends and family can continue to enjoy the cottage and lake air in the 11x12 screened deck keeping out the mosquitoes - this is Ontario so yes we have mosquitoes! Facilities - The cottage will feature a custom design build three piece bathroom and will included a shower, sink and of course indoor toilet. Other Comforts - Unlimited internet and WI-FI is provided, but no phone. We recommend you have a cell for your convenience. Comfortable fresh bedding and towels. Bathroom amenities however for larger groups and stays we recommend you bring extra shampoo and soap as turnover service is only done between guest stays. A selection of board games, several packs of playing cards and chess board. Outside - A deck that fully surrounds two side of the cottage to relax with your favourite cocktail and a beautiful view. Large propane BBQ with roastery and sear station, Charcoal BBQ/smoker, fire pit to roast a few s'mores (down by the water), deck chairs and table, kayak, canoe and dock. Boat - 2016 JYS 16 foot x 7 Pontoon boat with 25HP Evinrude e-tec engine, bench seating and two removable fishing chairs. Please note we provide 7 standard adult Canadian Coast Guard Certified Keyhole type lifejackets. We do NOT provide children life jackets. History of Bobs Lake - In 1870, the construction of a dam at Bolingbroke raised water levels. The new water level made one lake out of four, in addition to several adjoining bodies of water creating a much larger and more significant body of water we now know as Bobs Lake. The first known tourists attracted to the lakes came not long after Bobs Lake was flooded. In 1872, the K&P railroad was completed along the western shore of Bobs Lake to Tichborne, providing travelers with easier access to the lakes. Well into the 1920s the roads to the lakes, which were intended for horse-drawn vehicles, made travel by auto difficult or not possible in some places. However, when word got out that there was good fishing to be had, the numbers of fishers from Ontario and the USA increased.
