A month in St. Thomas
If you are looking to walk to the beach, this property isn't for you. For anything else, it's great. The house sits well up a hill, so the views are spectacular. Watch the sunsets and the cruise ships come and go. It's about a 10 minute drive into town and 20-30 minutes gets you anywhere on the island. We had a couple problems, but quick responses from Karen and property manager, Joma, made them small problems. Would definitely recommend this property.

The property was exactly as pictured, with a wonderful deck where we enjoyed watching the sunset every evening. There's a fully equipped kitchen, the bedrooms/bathrooms are arranged so that there's privacy if two couples are traveling together (although my husband and I were on our own!). The gate at the driveway made it feel very secure, although I don't think I would have been concerned if there wasn't a gate--this feels like a safe and also not touristy area. Thanks to Joma Mahoney for being so kind in guiding us to the house and setting us up with a new grill!

Nice property. On the mountains. If you're not from the island taxis are best be aware the the scamming drivers there are some great ones at the airport. Never use SINCLAIR or his car rental.

The Hideaway
The property is nestled on a hill and is peaceful and very relaxing. The AC was an issue but we were rarely at home so only ran it to cool off the house for an hour or so upon our return. Screen were missing from bedroom doors to balcony, but overall an excellent stay. Would definitely book again. Very convenient to town and venues on the island. Awesome response time from manager and owner.

Drive in is a bit of a surprise, as the road is steep and rough. View once there is fabulous and the accommodations are adequate. All and all a very good experience!

Great Place to Stay
This is a really, really lovely place to stay. We came to St. Thomas to visit my son who lives on the island. When he came for dinner, he remarked how he thought I did a great job picking the spot. Amazing view of the harbor from the balcony, which was one of the only dealbreakers when I was looking - there had to be an awesome balcony. The ocean breeze and the ceiling fans kept things very pleasant, even when it got hot in the afternoons. I wish I had read one of the previous reviews more carefully, because driving on the left on these roads is interesting, and I wish I had used the taxis more than I did. I have Sprint and I had a hard time getting a signal, but the wifi kept that from being an issue. ATT seems to be fine here. Karen (owner) and Joma (property manager) were both very responsive, pleasant, and accommodating. Next time I come down, I hope to stay here again. I will just make better use of the taxis.

Beautiful Getaway!
This home on Saint Thomas is truly beautiful and has an amazing view of the Caribbean. I highly recommend it for a getaway. The electronics are exceptional: Dish TV, Bluetooth stereo and Wi-Fi. The only difficulty is trying to find it. It’s toward the top of Hawk Hill Road off of Frenchmans Bay Road. Hussein the cab driver knows where it is and is excellent 340-474–5656.

Jomah met us at airport when we arrived. He took us to the house and told us keys/gate etc etc. very helpful. The house does not have an ac but the ceiling fans work just fine. We actually would get cold at times. The house is fully furnished just as listed. I was able to cook breakfast and my husband did make some chicken on the grill. The house has a wonderful view. It was nice to get up each morning and see the ocen from the balcony. Only issue we would have to say was the pressure of water coming out for shower. Which isnt a big issue. Im sure it has to do with water issue on the island. We loved the house and if we ever go back we would stay here again.

Our second visit
We rented this property with another couple for 5 weeks each in 2019 and 2020. It’s a great rental for those who are comfortable driving on the left side of the road as you will need a car. Wonderful view and beautiful sunsets.

Great house in the hills
This house was in a great location for us, the property is great and the views are amazing. The outdoor table and grill make it a perfect spot for cooking out on your trip.
The beds were very comfortable and all the cooking supplies you would need to make a great meal. Very comfortable seating in the living area and bathrooms are very spacious. Will book again and if you are reading this and thinking about this place, BOOK IT!
Thank you Karen and Joma for all your quick responses and zero issues.

Great place to stay!
My company used this property for business travel. The owner is excellent! She is very responsive and easy to work with. Her property manager is responsive as well. My traveler said this property has the best equipped kitchen and enjoyed her stay tremendously! She did have a couple of issues with the WiFi during her stay, but the owner address it promptly. The property needs a new TV, but the owner is working on addressing this issue as well. Would definitely recommend staying at this property!

Secluded Location With Expansive views of the Sea
We spent 9 great days at this Hawk Hill 2-bedroom 2-bathroom rental house. Located high in the hills with expansive views of the sea and transiting cruise ships, based on the size, amenities and price of this rental home, we could not have picked a better place or location on the island.
Each spacious bedroom has its own bathroom. There is air conditioning in the main living space, the kitchen, living room and dining room, and ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Cool ocean breezes kept use of air conditioning to a minimal.
The home is nicely furnished and was equipped with all the household essentials you’ll need, including a well maintained gas barbecue grill and patio furniture on the large ocean-facing deck. The home is private and somewhat secluded, with neighboring homes just close enough but not too close.
The home is relatively close to almost everything you’ll need, grocery stores, general shopping and souvenir vendors, restaurants, entertainment and night life. Beaches aren’t very far too; Morning Star and Limetree beaches are just down the hill, and Coki Beach, Magens Bay and Linquist beaches just a few minutes more away.
Negatives: Roads leading to the home may be challenging for some drivers; narrow and winding, steep at points with a few very sharp turns, smooth and then rocky in some areas. Good news; after a couples of days the drive gets easier.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay the home.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! The property was more than we expected. The view was simply beautiful morning and night, the home was equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. We are looking forward to our next visit and will be sure to confirm the home on Hawk Hill!

Great place for two couples to share
I recommend this property. We shared this house with another couple and found it comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. There is a gorgeous view (as you expect from the description in VRBO). Best of all, the owner is very responsive and easy to work with.
Basics: Good floor plan. Nice bathrooms . Plenty of linens, bath towels and washcloths, and beach towels. New grille and deck furniture. Lots of dishes, bowls, cups, and glasses. Four beach chairs provided.
The best thing is the beautiful view, but be aware, the house provides that view because it is located WAY up a windy, narrow road. Since we are very familiar with St. Thomas roads, it was not a problem for us.

Beautiful bungalow getaway!
We really enjoyed our stay here and recommend for others! this place is perfect, especially for two couples traveling together as it has two bedrooms, each with their own private bath. The view from the balcony is breathtaking, and there's lots of privacy. There was a little bit of road noise at night, and neighbors were up early, but didn't bother us much. The island breeze is enough to keep the place cool and I especially loved that the balcony doors completely opened up with screens. The kitchen was fully equipped with dishes, so we were able to make our own meals, and living room was comfortable although we were disappointed to not find a deck of cards anywhere. We ended up buying some so we could play out on the balcony after our jam packed days. The place was also very centrally located, which was awesome. About 20 minute drive in each direction to the farthest points of the island so we were able to explore everything. You will not be sorry you rented this place!

Beautiful mountain retreat with nice views of cruise ships coming and going
Love the gate, the deck, the bathrooms and the bedrooms and the layout of the living space. Every time I rent a home in St. Thomas I miss my comfortable furniture in the living room and Hawk Hill was no exception. Maybe owners feel guests aren't in need of this feature but after a day of hiking, swimming, drinking and riding in the rental jeep up and down bumpy roads, I need an upholstered resting spot. While the two bedrooms were very comfortable, no one in my family could sleep on the sofa bed, it caused back spasms. Overall, I would recommend Hawk Hill for a family of four, it was well supplied and offered plenty of space for a fun vacation. My son is a bartender at Havana Blue and it was a quick ride for the best drinks and food on the island. We also love Abi Beach and Hawk Hill was minutes away. Thank you for a great vacation at Christmas, no air conditioning needed, the breeze was amazing!

Top of the Mountain Retreat
We enjoyed our stay in St. Thomas and our " retreat on top of the mountain". The cottage was clean and well maintained. Any problems were dealt with immediately. There was plenty of cooking supplies, towels, sheets, etc. The washing machine and dryer were a bonus. We enjoyed the porch over looking the bay, and watched the cruise lines and cargo boats come in each day and leave at night. I wished there'd been a telescope so we could see the names of the ships as they sailed by us. We went to the Puelbo supermarket for our food supplies. It was were the locals go, and is off the mountain and near downtown. The customers and cashiers were very accommodating and willing to guide us in finding items. Everyone on the island was willing to help the "tourist". We found the beach at Corky to be the best place to snorkel. They have chairs (for rent), food, and a great beach! Servers even come out to the beach to sell drinks and food. Many offer free drink "tastes". We went so many times that we learned every ones name and, of course, got better service. Red Hook is an area where you get the ferry over to St. John and has a lot of eating and tourist attractions. Tuto is another area where the Walgreens and K-Mart are. Driving on the "wrong" side of the road was a little strange and took concentration! You could always use the "taxis". Iggies is a restaurant near our Mountain Retreat, right on the water offering drinks and good food. Go spend some time on St. Thomas and at the "Mountain Retreat", you will love it!

Pretty nice place to stay in VI away from the busy towns
We were pleased with the house. Nice kitchen, living room, bedrooms, bathrooms. Very nice view. It is quiet there. You are a few miles away from Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie, but it feels like much further. Everything was working except the washing machine. Steep drive up the hill, but it is less than 1 mile. Be sure to get the coordinates of the house in a GPS.

This is the way to experience St. Thomas.
We rented for the month of January 2016 at a most affordable rate and plan to do so again in the future. The home is very well maintained, very private and high up on the side of a big hill with panoramic views from the deck across the entire back of the house. There are two large French doors to the deck and we kept them open the entire time. The A/C was never needed since the many ceiling fans kept the air moving nicely. There is a flowering tree at the end of the deck with regular hummingbird visits. We woke up to the songs of various birds every morning as the sun came up. This is an ideal winter getaway. Perfect weather every day. Ocean temperature 80 degrees. Beautiful beaches. Great snorkeling. We strongly recommend renting a day on Joma's 46' sailboat for a tour of nearby islands like St. John and the British Virgins.

Best vacation place ever! Great for family and friend trip
We enjoyed a lot with staying with this property and it is a lot better than expected!!! The living room is a lot bigger than you see from the photo and so is the balcony. I spent a lot of time lying on the net bed on balcony. We also had our breakfast on balcony with great ocean review and trees and flowers around. The property has all you need, including many beach towels. We request a air bed which is a lot higher and stronger than the normal air bed. My friend said she had good sleeps on that. The location is great which is sitting in the middle of St Thomas and basically within 15-20 mins can get you to anywhere you want to go. the GPS said 30 mins but it took us less than 20 mins to get to Red Hook. The only thing you need to pay attention is, a car is needed!!!! Considering the rental fees you paid here is a lot cheaper than those resort/hotels providing shuttle service, a car can bring you a lot of convenience and save time. The property is probably 30 mins walking from the main street if you think about walking to main street to get a taxi. The supermarkets are downhill and right next to shopping malls. There are also some markets we went near beaches and Red Hook. You can use Yelp on the island. The last thing, thanks a lot our property assistant Joma, he is very considerable and friendly, waiting us outside the airport and guided us from car rental to the property. I would definitely recommend (actually I did already) to all my friends and whoever see my review. Best Vacation Ever!! I will be back!!

Dirty Thirty in paradise
This was such an amazing rental to add to the amazing vacation. My BFF and I were celebrating our joint 30th. Karen was so flexible with us and provided a great deal. We were greeted by Mr.Joma Mahoney, whom I cannot say less than amazing things about. He is flexible, kind, funny and has an amazing sail boat that he took us out on. The rental is spacious. 2 bathrooms. 2 bedrooms. Wonderful patio views. It's located up the hills, so it's quiet and private. Everything you need to feel at home (microwave. Washer/dryer/stove etc). Definitely need a car to get there, we had trouble requesting taxis so Joma came to help us out. I would say that was the only downside for us since we wanted to go out at night but were apprehensive in driving back just because it's a pretty curvy way up. Once you get the hang of driving and location, this is a 20min drive to red hook, the market and about 10mins to Charlotte.
Overall, one of the best rentals I've had. Super impressed and in love with the island and home. We can't wait to go back. And Karen was extremely wonderful at booking, total breeze.

Wonderful, beautiful and easy
I am a seasoned traveler and use home away for a lot of my stays, and this was one of the best. Joma (whom designed the house and is the caretaker) met us at our car rental and we followed him back to the house. Along the way he stopped and waited for us at the main grocery store and was so friendly and patient. BTW we rented a Toyota Yaris which is just fine for traveling around the island and up and down from the house (although the trip would be near impossible without the rental).
The house itself was clean and in beautiful condition. The balcony gives you a view of the valley and ocean along with spectacular sunsets. There is also a gated fence around the property although when in the house and on the balcony you really can't see any of the neighbors. The closest beach is a ten minute drive and there is a grocery store along the way which we stopped at every day. Making breakfast and cooking dinner at the house saves a lot of money and the house (with the views, kitchen and balcony) is easy to relax in and enjoy the weather. Charlotte Amelie is only a ten minute drive as well.
Joma was great. He helped us with anything and everything and was easy to get ahold of. Our absolute favorite part of the trip was sailing with Joma on his 46' sailboat. We sailed over to St. Johns, St. Croix, around Tortola and other surrounding islands stopping to swim, snorkel and hang on a beach anytime we wanted. There's plenty of room for food and drinks so bring some along and spend the day on the boat! It was easy to meet him at the harbor and we were out for 8 or 9 hours. He charged us a fraction of what you normally pay for a private sail like we had; it was only us 4, him and one crew mate of his. Joma is easy to talk to and gave us a lot of local knowledge and information on the islands.
Karen, the owner, was also great to work with and handled our payment ect. in a timely fashion which was appreciated. The price to rent the property is beyond fair, I would recommend it to just about anyone and would definitely return myself. Enjoy!

Great value home in St. Thomas
Overall, we were very happy to have chosen this home for our week-long stay in St. Thomas. As you can see from the photos the views from are incredible and the deck area is very nice. The location is also great - the home is located in a quiet residential area that is about 15 minutes from downtown Charlotte Amalie and 20 minutes from Red Hook. Karen and Joma were easy to work with and also very responsive - we had an issue with the stove early on in our stay that was quickly resolved. My only recommendation would be to upgrade the coffee maker from 4 to 12 cups!

Very comfortable house away from busy areas with easy access to everything. Views from the deck of the ocean and islands are spectacular. We did not want to leave the house, enjoying the views and relaxing in very peaceful atmosphere. Reservation was very easy, escort from the airport was very helpful. Woud definetely recommend the property.

Great view, relaxing spot
The home was great, wrap around deck overlooking the Caribbean was fantastic. We were even able to see St. Croix and Vieques on a few of the days from the deck. You get privacy and convenience to Charlotte Amalie and Redhook. Karen was easy to work with and Joma was very helpful when needed. The home was everything we needed. We would recommend this home! I would recommend renting a car, we were happy we had one.

Nice house, convenient and quiet location, gorgeous view
Thank goodness we were escorted by Karen's liaison in to the property upon our arrival. The house is in a quiet and secluded neighborhood back off the main street. Once there, it was easy to navigate to and from, but getting there the first time was a little tricky and the escort to the house was appreciated.
The property &house were well maintained and the online pictures were representative of what we saw when we arrived. Linens and towels were clean. Beds were comfortable. The house itself was mostly clean, but there were a few food particles left in the kitchen sink and what appeared to be a bit of shaving stubble(?) in the sink and on the counter the master bathroom when we arrived, which gave us a little pause and led us to wonder how thoroughly the house had been cleaned after the last guests. We're not too picky and the house did otherwise appear clean, so we just rinsed it down and went on our way.
The house has lots of windows and a wonderful sea breeze, so we did not need to use the a/c at all. One small drawback was the lack of a landline. I have Sprint and my phone worked most places on the island, including the house, but because it was so far up and away from the main roads, my signal was spotty. For the last two days of our week long stay, my phone did not work at all, because of some windstorms. Because there was no landline, we were not able to communicate with the rest of our party except through email, which did still work on my phone, but no calls or texts were going through. We also had to arrange to get the keys back to Karen's liaison on our last morning, but he couldn't get through to me on my cell and had no way of calling the house without a landline, and I couldn't call him, so it was a little difficult.
Karen is friendly, easy to talk to, and very responsive. My father actually rented this property for us and she was very quick to respond to his questions when inquiring originally about the property. She was just as responsive to me and my questions and was helpful in giving suggestions of good places to eat, close beaches, etc...
Overall our stay was very good. I would rent this property again and would recommend it as a place for others.
