About this house rental

Nestled atop its own, very private 20 acre gated retreat, our Spanish style home boasts 360 views of the Santa Ynez Valley from a 5,000 sq.ft deck. Less than 5 minutes to Foxen Canyon and the charming towns of Los Olivos and Solvang, this is the perfect weekend getaway. Our home is surrounded on all sides by over 5,000 square feet of deck - accessible from every room, it is the perfect place to start or end your day. Built for indoor/outdoor style living, our dining and sleeping arrangements comfortably accommodate a maximum of 12. There are west and east facing wings, each hosting separate master suites, and two large guest bedrooms. (For a house total of 4 king beds and 2 queen beds). The deck leads out to a large swimming pool (not heated) and garden with a BBQ area. The orchard walk runs behind the pool, and is home to over 30 mature citrus and avocado trees. Los Olivos, Santa Ynez and Solvang are all within a 10 minute drive of each other, and have very charming town centers as well as great dining options. Vineyards abound - we have many favorites and are happy to make recommendations. Everything in the valley is very close together, and driving into Santa Ynez takes about 25-30 minutes from Santa Barbara and it's beaches. Many people come to this area to cycle, hike, ride horseback, play golf at the renowned Rancho San Marcos course, take a glider or hot air balloon ride, and most especially, for the wine (and excellent food!) Special amenities include: 2 separate master suites, pool, jacuzzi, steam room, BBQ, pool table, large family/TV room, deck access from all guest rooms, gourmet kitchen, and an elevator that goes from the east garage to the main floor atrium. RULES & CANCELLATION Check-in/Check-out Policy: Check-in is 2 PM the first day of the Rental Period, and check-out is 1 PM the last day of the Rental Period unless otherwise arranged in writing. We do not permit any events or parties on the property, and cannot host weddings. If you are hoping to use our home to entertain people outside of guests included in the reservation, please be courteous and ask for permission first. No more than 12 guests are permitted. Families with small children should let us know ages and number of children prior to booking. Deposit and Payment Policy: As indicated in the rental quote and confirmation from HomeAway. Cancellation Policy: All reservations are non-refundable. There are no refunds for late arrival or early check out. All no-shows are non-refundable. Water and Septic: The property is on a well and septic systems. Water from the faucets is very hard, but safe to drink. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages. Damage Clause: Lessee accepts full liability and responsibility for any and all damage caused to the property as a result of his/her personal guests while renting this home. Owners may use the damage deposit or damage insurance policy for the cost of repair or replacement for anything damaged during the lessee's stay. MCP will notify lessee in writing of reported damage and charges. No Smoking allowed. This rule is strongly enforced and Lessee will be charged a $350 fee if anyone smokes in the home during his/her stay. Smoking is permitted outside on the deck or in the garden area only, and cigarette butts must be disposed of in a sealed bottle or in the ash tray cups provided. Lessee and guests should take extra care to ensure all possible measures are taken to protect the home from fire risk and to protect outdoor furniture from ash burns. Lesseeā€™s damage deposit of $500 may be used to cover cleaning associated with violation of the smoking policy, including improper disposal of cigarette butts. Additional damages may be sought for furniture burns.

Our family of 12 (four boys, one dad, seven kids/spouses/girlfriends) spent an amazing 5 days over Thanksgiving weekend at the property. From Los Angeles (without traffic), it's a little over two hours driving, and yet it feels like you've left the state. The house is huge--everyone had their own bedroom--and for a family that loves to cook, the kitchen was not only extremely well-equipped but also very spacious. A really big grocery store is about a 15-minute drive, but there's a lovely market/wine shop/sandwich place right down the hill. We visited the Pence winery (no relation to the vice president!) and played golf at Alisal and La Purisma. Eager to return soon!

The house was spacious and the views impressive. It was very convenient to the wedding venue, Sunstone Winery, and many other wineries. We enjoyed exploring the neighboring towns and basking in the sunshine.

Jaw dropping gorgeous location in the beautiful Santa Ynez valley. Traveled with well seasoned guest and it was commented that it felt like a villa in south of France. We never wanted to leave, despite the abundance of wineries . Easy drive to wonderful meals in Los Olivos (Petros and Wine Merchant never disappointed) and scenic drive to Los Padres National forest to see spectacular spring, wild flower bloom. The owner was quick to respond with a few gliches( stove vent ,finding the actual street address, which was a bit challenging because it was never posted on either Homeaway or VRBO). Santa Ynez Valley is really a small, horse/farm area and it has maintained it charms but by no means is it provincial in food or spirits. The least attractive local is Solvang, crowded, soso food and touristy(with the exception of a tiny store which features McConnell ice creme called the trolley ice cream). Check out the town of Santa Ynez for great tacos and BBQ and the Feed store, love that kinda of stuff, across the street from the RED House(? Edison street)) is a fun clothing store, very expensive beautiful clothes.
