Porch lined cabin nestled in the Pines for lazy summer days
About this cabin rental
Welcome to our favorite summer family destination! Visiting Island Park was an annual summer activity in our family growing up and we are happy to have the opportunity to share our love of this beautiful country with others. Our cabin is amid the most enjoyable parts of Island Park: feeding the fish at Big Springs and the friendly hike to Johnny Sack's Cabin; floating the Henry's Fork (Big Springs) down to Mack's Inn; drives up to Sawtell Peak to view the surrounding area, playing by the reservoir, 4-wheel riding the trails; fishing on Henry's Lake; and close proximity to West Yellowstone (25 miles), Quake Lake (38 miles), Virginia City (82 miles), Mesa Falls (27 miles). The possibilities are endless! When you drive up to our cabin, it's set back from the road and is nestled in the pine trees. You will first notice the covered front porch that lets you enjoy the peaceful beauty of the area. We have a campfire, swings, and picnic table that can all be viewed from the porch. For those of you that want to grill outside there is a bbq grill (please do not leave unattended). You'll enter into an open floor plan kitchen, dining area, and spacious living room. Your eyes will be immediately drawn to our cozy propane fireplace and unique barn wood lined wall. This cabin sleeps 6 with 2 queen beds and option of 1 queen hide-a-bed or aero-bed queen blow up air mattress that will maintain its air if left plugged in at night. Kitchen: The kitchen is equipped with all of the necessary appliances and utensils for you to prepare your meals. We have everything from fridge, oven, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans, casserole dishes, crockpot, toaster, electric griddle, blender, utensils, cups, mugs, cutting boards, knifes, dish towels, heat pads... Our only complaint is that dishes have to be hand washed with provided dish soap. Living Room: The living room has a love seat with foot rest, recliner, hide-a-bed couch, over stuffed chair and foot rest, family made redwood coffee table, 2 pine end tables, 48 inch smart tv with YouTube TV or login to any of your streaming subscriptions (NO cable or satellite), and entertainment stand with Blu-ray player and bluetooth stereo to play your own tunes through while playing a fun game of cards. Ceiling mounted fan helps circulate the cool air provided by the outside temperature. There is No Air-conditioning!!! From the living room into the hallway is where you will find 1 full bathroom, 1 bedroom, and 1 master bedroom with 1/2 bath and laundry. Full Bathroom: This bathroom contains a large vanity with plenty of room to store your toiletries, an additional stand with storage, and wall mount for easy access to our clean, white, soft, plump towels. A full walk in shower with built in seat was recently added. Bedroom: This bedroom is beautifully lined with one pine covered wall that matches the pine headrest, pine night stand, and pine dresser. The queen bed has soft white sheets, one fleece blanket, and comforter to match all temperature levels. Two pillows are provided. This bedroom has two small screen covered windows that help circulate the air when the ceiling fan is going. Master Bedroom: This bedroom is also beautifully lined with one pine covered wall that matches the pine bed frame, night stands, dresser, and armoire (inside is one queen aero-bed blow-up mattress to use as a alternative to the hide-a-bed. It will maintain its air if left plugged in at night). The queen bed is covered with soft white sheets, fleece blanket, and quilt. Two pillows are provided. There's also two screen lined windows and ceiling fan. There's a large spacious closet, rocking chair, and ironing board with iron. The 1/2 bath is also supplied with the same soft, plush towels. Inside the bathroom partition is the stacking washer and dryer. Additional Things Provided: Bedding is provided for the queen hide-a-bed or air mattress (sheets, fleece blanket, comforter, 2 pillows).

The cabin was beautiful, very clean and had everything needed to relax. Kitchen included everything needed to prepare food. Host was responsive and accomodating. Cabin was in a nice location and was near store and a coypke of restaurants as well as Big Springs. Two new cabins are being built on either side of the cabin, however there were no disturbances from the construction during our stay. Accuracy of listing rating a little lower as the photos of the listing do not indicate how close the cabins under construction are. Once the new cabins are complete, the listed cabin will not be quite as private as shown in the picture. We thouroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin and could not have asked for a more beautiful place.

Cozy forest setting in a quiet neighborhood. Excellent wi-fi, comfortable beds, responsive host and a nice welcome kit for making smores in the outside fire ring.

John was super responsive with our one and only issue (WiFi password), and the cabin is exactly as described. As always IP was exceptional, but this time was even more relaxing than past experiences thanks to the Balmer family cabin and all of the amenities! Thanks so much John.

Great place to stay while visiting Yellowstone!
We loved this house! It was exceptionally clean and was exactly as described. The location makes it super easy to visit West Yellowstone and the west entrance to Yellowstone. The house had everything we needed for our week stay. I would recommend to buy your groceries beforehand only because the local prices are really high ($7.50 for a box of cheerios!) and there are no Walmarts or big chains close by. We bought toiletries such as shampoo before realizing previous renters left some so perhaps visit the house first if you don’t bring your own and you can save that way a bit.
We would absolutely rent this house again if we come back!

What a cozy cabin for a home base to explore Yellowstone, Tetons, and Idaho Falls, especially if you fly into IDA. Our only regret was not having enough time to enjoy this peaceful, comfortable, welcoming cabin.

This cabin was very comfortable for us. It could comfortably house 4 or 6 people. The inside is nicely remodeled. Current pictures don't do it justice.

Quiet and Comfortable
Great place with a lot more amenities than ever seen. Fully stocked kitchen. The s’mores kit left for guests was a nice touch. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening. Lots of great places close by to eat at. Definitely will come back again.

Perfect for my family!
This was the perfect spot for my family. My girls loved the s’more greeting treat! There were lots of family games available to play. The house was clean and spacious and an easy 30 minute drive to Yellowstone. We also took advantage of Mack’s water adventures ( which is located about 3 minutes away) to go rafting down the Snake river when the family needed a break from hiking in the park. Check in and check out was super easy, The house is on a lovely wooded lot. I highly recommend this property!

Very comfortable cabin in the woods
Very clean and fairly spacious cabin. It has absolutely everything we needed. Communication with hosts was timely, and not overbearing. Half an hour away from Yellowstone. Would love to have a chance to stay here again.

We could not have asked for a better place to stay on vacation! This updated cabin was just right for our family, having a full kitchen and laundry when you're traveling with kids is such a relief. Knowing that we were going to arrive "home" after a long day of exploring made it easy to relax. Added bonus for our stay was how close it is to Yellowstone's West gate! We REALLY enjoyed our time here, thank you for sharing your family cabin with us!

Our stay was excellent, the house was better than we could imagine. 4 nights were not enough to enj
...Enjoy the fire pit, and S’mores which was a nice touch by the owner. Loved the pictures and fireplace and all the supplies were just right. My wife and I highly recommend and would stay again if in the area. The owner Kohn made the extra effort to call back and walk me through the pilot lighting. A beautiful 29 minute ride from Yellowstone out of the fray of West Yellowstone. Are st Boondocks restaurant up the road . It was delicious. Thanks!

Exactly what the doctor ordered
While they have a few issues to iron out, this place was gorgeously situated on a heavily wooded lot. A real camping cabin feel, with full modern amenities. While we were a little further from the main attractions in Yellowstone than we would have liked to be toward the end of our 3 NP journey, this place had exactly what we were looking for in a fully stocked kitchen, space to spread out, peace and quiet, and natural surroundings. Beautiful porch! Could have spent all day on that swing with a beer in hand :). Thank you both for your care and attention to detail and for opening up this place for our family.

Excellent Accommodations for Family with Children
We enjoyed a wonderful visit to Yellowstone Park and stayed at this cabin with three adults and three children. The cabin was very clean and very comfortable. We were able to eat breakfast and dinner there, as well as, prepare lunches to eat in the park. Eating facilities are not always convenient in the park. Staying in the cabin, allowed the opportunity for the children to play and move about after hours of confinement in the vehicle.

Perfect family getaway
This was a great place to stay for our family of 5. It’s about 30 minutes from the entrance of West Yellowstone. My kids loved making s’mores (which was provided by the owner) in the fire pit. They also loved the swings. The only complaints I can give are the hide-a-bed is not at all comfortable, even my 9 year old complained. I know there is an air mattress but they are not typically much better so we didn’t even try. The other complaint is just that the tub is super tall and difficult to get out of even for adults. Neither of these things would stop me from coming again, it was a great little getaway for our family!

Great Place near Mack's Inn
We had a great time at this cabin. All amenities were as advertised. Place was clean and cozy. Very conveniently located near the activities we were doing in Island Park. The deck was a nice place to relax and read.

comfortable and clean
The property was very clean. The bedrooms were well equipped with nice beds, sheets, comforters and dressers. The full bath and 1/2 bath were also very clean and nice. It was appreciated to have soap and paper products supplied. There were only 3 washcloths for a family of five. We stayed for five nights, so really needed 20-25 wash cloths. So part of the family did with out and we had to wash them twice. The yard was pretty with large trees, porch with chairs and grill and we enjoyed the fire pit a few evenings. The smores supplies left by the owners were a special touch. The living room and kitchen were nice and clean. Furniture was nice. Sofa bed not real comfortable, so my son used the air mattress which wouldn't stay inflated very well, has a good leak in it. We were informed of that ahead of time, but it needs to be fixed. Also the website said the house had netflix, but it was very limited and most movies/shows were unavailable. It was nice to have washer and dryer. Most utensils and pans were provided in kitchen but there was no strainer for pasta. There were towels, soap and even some plastic baggies in kitchen which was nice. The house was about 30 minutes to Yellowstone National Park, we made the drive every day. The main negative besides needing more washcloths and towels was that there is not outside trash can/bear container. You could only fill one small kitchen size trash can for your entire stay, which in our case was five nights. That was with us taking small amounts of trash and recycling to places in west yellowstone. This was a inconvenience. Once the small trash was filled, you were expected to take trash to a landfill. This is a problem that needs to be addressed. There were some emails before we arrived and all questions were answered and there was prompt communication. We had a nice visit to the area and your home. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the home was very clean and comfortable.

Great cabin in the woods!
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. It was extremely clean and well stocked with towels and kitchen essentials. The cabin is large, the accommodations are very nice, the bathrooms were new, new washer/dryer. A few restaurants/stores very close and convenient. The host was very responsive and helpful. The host was thoughtful in providing things that were needed and - we had a great time!

Clean, roomy cabin
With West Yellowstone being full, this cabin was a great location for us. It was a clean, roomy cabin with a lot of amenities (got to wash our clothes!). We utilized the fire pit and really enjoyed out time. I highly recommend it.

One amazing experience in this beautiful cabin
Very clean, comfortable and well stocked cabin in a quiet and relaxing wooded location that is only a short 20 minutes drive to the west entrance.
We stayed 4 nights in this beautifully decorated cabin which is very well built throughout and has comfortable beds, great pillows, thick plush towels, hotdog roasting sticks, wood & lighter sticks for the fire pit, paper towels, brochures about local attractions, dish soap, plenty of dishes & cookware. Comfortable swings in the porch, tree swings and picnic table near the fire pit. We were wanting for nothing and felt right at home! There are plenty of other thing to do in the area as well.
It even has WiFi, if you want to connect with your family and friends or to post updates about your great stay to social media.
The owner, John, is very responsive; he promptly answered to our questions and even provided tips on visiting local attractions.
Everything you could ever want for a great stay. Would highly recommend to anyone!!
