This spacious house is 45 years old. Located in a quiet neighborhood, away from tourist resorts, 110 meters above sea level. It's a 15 minute walk to the center of Funchal and a 17 minute drive from the airport. A perfect location from which to explore the island as it's very central to go either east or west, as well as north. The city is a monument in itself. There are many things you can see and do in Funchal, like visiting the market, the Madeira wine museum, taking a boat trip to watch dolphins and whales, taking a cable car to the gardens of Monte, going on levada walks, etc. From the front side of the house you have views over the mountains and from the backside views over the ocean and the center of Funchal. This property is shared. You will have one spacious bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom, and a balcony for yourself. The kitchen and the back yard are shared spaces. Free Wi-Fi internet available. There is a washing machine and laundry lines. All the windows in this house have mosquito screens.

We are happy to stay by the Aurelio and Sietske, who are really nice couple. They treated us as family, we enjoyed their wonderful house with the perfect view and location. Sietske and Aurelio gave us many valuable tips regarding traveling on Madeira. Thank you for hospitality!!!

Spacious, comfortable home from home
As others have said, this house is spacious, clean and comfortable for a long stay. For holiday-makers not wishing to risk driving on Madeira's roads, the house is very convenient for central Funchal. It is an easy, if steep, walk down to the Mercado and the excellent city bus service offers a choice of 3 buses back up the hill. After a day's sight-seeing the back garden is a peaceful haven for enjoying the lovely view.

Vaste maison avec vue assez proche du centre
La maison est très grande : nous y étions 5 adultes sans se gêner. La cuisine est parfaitement équipée. La terrasse est vaste aussi et très appréciable. Les fenêtres sont toutes équipées de moustiquaires.
Le seul bémol serait le manque d'isolation phonique des fenêtres par rapport aux aboiements des chiens de la ville pendant la nuit.

Wunderbare Aussicht
Es ist ein älteres Haus mit einem besonderen Charme, für uns zu zweit großzügig. Alles was man benötigt gibt es dort. Die Vermieter sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit mit Vorschlägen und Ideen. Der Blick vom Balkon ist atemberaubend schön. Die Berglage hat natürlich auch seine Tücken - es ist seehr steil herunter in die Stadt und beschwerlich hoch. Wenn man das Bussystem durchschaut hat, geht es. Von der Stadt hoch fahren heißt, man muss die Zeit wählen, von wo der Bus los fährt - also von der City, in die Stadt runter fahren die Zeiten von S. Luzia wählen -also nicht das Ziel wählen wie gewohnt, sondern den Abfahrtsort, dann kommen die Busse ziemlich zuverlässig.

Lovely home away from home
Great location. We walked into town although the hills were a bit of a challenge. Aurelio and Sietske had everything that we could need during our 4 night stay. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen. I also liked sitting in the back with a glass of wine chilling after long days of sightseeing. They are both gracious hosts, taking time to show us everything in the house as well as giving us sightseeing tips. I have already mentioned this property to my sister (and her family of 5)! Many thanks Aurelio and Sietske for a wonderful stay in your second home !

Another great stay in this property,bus stop close to house,so easy to get into and back from Funchal.Aurelio and Sietske are a lovely couple and they could not be more helpful if you need help decicing which places you want to visit.The house has everything required for cooking drinking etc.Proper home from home,I'll be back,

The first thing to say, when we arrived was the warm welcome we received from Aurelio and Sietske. We had the full rundown on how everything worked. Seiske's welcome folder was brimming with useful information and we often referred to it.
The house was clean and very spacious, especially for the 2 of us. We decided on the bedroom with a view of Funchal Harbour, because it had a balcony. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
We agree with other guests comments regarding the dogs.
As we are ourselves owners of a holiday home in Spain, we would recommend the upgrading of the TV to meet today's entertainment criteria, because you have excellent internet service. We had a similar situation in Spain and we upgraded the TV and now enjoy positive feedback from guests.
We would suggest bringing binoculars to view the cruise ships coming into port on a regular basis and the many beautiful views across the island. We rented a car for 3 weeks of our holiday this allowed us to see the beauty of the island.
Walking down to Funchal took 20mins.The number 26 bus was ideal for the return trip, also Number 19 Bus is only a 5 minute walk to the top of the road.
We also recommend the bar just down the road from the house, and their 'picador' dish very reasonably priced and friendly. Our 5 week stay was very relaxing.

We spent a wonderful vacation in this home! Every day we felt at home. We already want to return there!
Cozy, spacious, well-equipped house is placed on calm residential area. There is a parking place and unlimited wi-fi also.
We had an amazing view of the old city, the port, the ocean from two bedrooms. The living room and the third bedroom have a nice view of the mountains and the cable car.
The owners of the house are a wonderful and very friendly family couple, who helped us with useful tips. We are very pleased to meet them and hope to meet again on our next vacation in Madeira!

The view says it all
The view from the patio is just magical.The town of Funchal is so laid back you just get carried away with it all,so many great restaunts,easy and extremely varied shopping great trips out,never stuck for something to do. Sietske's property is amazing,so much room,great sunbathing,all the equipment you could wish for if you decide to eat in,and great information from the owner.One thing is sure we will be back next year just as soon as we can book flights.See you then Sietske.

Schönes Haus und sehr nette Vermieter
Das Haus ist riesig (120 qm) und die Vermieter sind sehr nett. Nachdem uns der Vermieter vom Hafen gegen einen vernünftigen Preis abends abgeholt hat saßen wir noch gemütlich bei Kaffee und kalten Getränken noch mindestens 1 Std zusammen. Viele nützliche Tipps wo man preiswerter essen oder einkaufen kann haben wir an dem Abend erfahren. Ein Tipp von uns ist , besucht das Bistro ca. 150 mtr den Berg runter (sehr leckere Gemüsesuppe und andere Speisen!!

It is a huge house that can accomodate even a big family too. It was clean and everything worked very well however don`t expect a fully refurbished, modern place. Most of the equipment was old-fashioned therefore it had a special time-back atmosphere.:)
But to be honest who cares about this when you have got such a lovely welcome from the owners, Sietske and Aurelio? They were always at our disposal and showed true care when they showed around Funchal and gave accurate guidance and tips about the island.
I can highly recommend this house to anyone who wants to stay in a cosy place where you can feel that you are at home.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft,
schon der Blick von der Terasse über die Stadt und den Hafen überzeugt.
Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet, sauber und eher großzügig.
Es liegt sehr verkehrsgünstig zur Stadt und zur Schnellstrasse, ist aber trotzdem sehr angenehm ruhig.
Besonders angenehm war auch die Freundlichkeit ud Hilfsbereitschaft der Vermieter Sietske und Aurelio.
Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

Great stay in Fuchal
The house exceeded our expectations and had everything and more that was promised. The hosts graciously met us with drinks and cookies and made certain that we were settled. They even gave us a tour of the neighborhood. The house was clean, quiet, spacious, and comfortable. It had a view of the cable car and mountain as well as a spectacular view of the city and ocean from the garden. We had gated off street parking. The apartment was a short walk down to the commercial and tourist and restaurant center and on the bus route for non walkers. The access to the highway was quick and easy for touring and hiking the entire island.. A few moments away was a small bistro with drinks and good, inexpensive food. We would recommend this listing and would stay there again on return.

Fantastisch huis voor een fantastische vakantie.
Van eind april tot begin mei hebben wij met 5 personen gebruik gemaakt van dit huis in Funchal. Na een mooie rit van het vliegveld naar Funchal kwamen we aan bij het huis, alwaar je prachtig zicht hebt op de zee. De eigenaar, Sietske, heeft ons gastvrij ontvangen met een rondleiding door het huis en koffie en gebak . Het huis was heel ruim, we waren met 5 personen, er is zeker ruimte voor meer personen. We hadden de beschikking over 3 badkamers, met voldoende warm water voor iedereen. Het was fijn dat er een ruim terras was met zich op de zee. Het huis ligt in een buitenwijk van de stad. Er zijn mogelijkheden genoeg om de stad in te gaan of tochten over het eiland te maken. Een auto is wel aan te raden. Sietske heeft ons tips gegeven en was gedurende onze periode via telefoon en mail bereikbaar. We hebben erg genoten van ons verblijf op Madeira en kunnen dit huis zeker aanbevelen!

A beautiful, spacious house.A true recommendation.
We had a truly good time in this house, which was located perfectly. The information we got beforehand was completely correct. The owners welcomed us personally and showed us the way around the house. Besides, they also gave us all kind of tip-offs about the surroundings and the island. From this house you can do a lot of things: walk to the city centre or go to the levadas, villages and mountains by car. I am surely going to recommend this house to other holiday makers !
(We hebben het erg naar onze zin gehad in dit huis. Het is een ruim huis dat op een zeer mooie locatie staat. De informatie die we van te voren hadden ontvangen over het huis was goed. De huiseigenaren ontvingen ons persoonlijk en maakten ons wegwijs in het huis. Ook vertelden zij over de omgeving. Vanuit dit huis is er genoeg te ondernemen: te voet naar het stadscentrum of per auto naar de leveda’s , dorpen en bergen. Ik ga dit huis zeker aanbevelen bij anderen.)

Une grande maison pour un agréable séjour.
Nous avons passé une riche semaine à Funchal avec la découverte de la Ponta de São Lorenço, Coral das Freiras, la traversée Pico de Arieiro - Pico Ruivo, la Caldeirão Verde, le Cabo Girão... Nous avons aimé Porto da Cruz. Les fleurs, fruits et les légumes du marché à Funchal sont extraordinaires. Merci pour la maison, qui nous a apporté un grand confort par sa situation proche du centre et
proche de l'autoroute qui dessert l'île d'est en ouest sans oublier le jardin avec sa vue sur la ville st la mer.
Une seconde semaine nous a permis de compléter le tour de l'île avec Ribeira Brava, Calheta où nous nous sommes baignés, et Porto Moniz avec ses piscines. Plus à l'intérieur Paùl da Serra, les levadas en direction des 25 fontaines puis une nouvelle traversée vers le Pico Ruivo à partir du col de Encumeada nous auront ravis.Un grand respect pour tous ces travailleurs
qui ont sculté la montagne et créé les terrasses. Nous restons impressionnés par la vitalité de la végétation.
Merci à Sketske qui nous a accueilli avec un français parfait.
Madeira, n'hésitez pas! comme nous, vous en garderez un grand souvenir.

Het is een prima huis!
wij hebben enorm genoten in het mooie huis; alles wat wij wensten was aanwezig; fijn dat het wij alles mochten gebruiken, zoals wasmachine etc.. en niet te vergeten de hartelijke en gastvrije ontvangst! Wij hebben heel veel gezien in Funachal, Porta da Cruz, boottocht gemaakt en dolfijnen, walsvis en waterschildpad kunnen zien. Tropische tuin, met de kabelbaan, kortom teveel om op te noemen. Op de hoek van de straat is een "snackbar"waar je ook prima en goedkoop kunt eten, er is ook een vriendelijke bediening. Jammer dat de vakantie zo kort was, wij hadden er nog veel langer willen blijven, wat helaas niet kon. Wij zullen deze accommodatie zeer zeker aanbevelen!!

Nicel situated house. Clean and fully equiped.
The house is situated near the center of the town. Several times we walked to this center, of course Funchal is hilly.
The house was clean, fully equiped, and spacious. We had a big sleeping room with our own bathroom.
In front of the house you have horizontal parking. This is very convenient, because their is not always parking spaces on the streets.
At the back of the house you havel a big terrace with a very nice view over the city, looking at the harbor.
Several times we have sit their into the evening sun.
The housowner had placed serveral meaningful things into the kitchen, like some suger, thea, koffee, soap, toiletpaper, species, olive oil, etc. So it is not necessary to find a suoermarket immediatly.
Go to the nice coffee-shop La Pena, 200 meters downhill. We can advise you to buy your wake-up coffee and your bread.or breakfast.

Geweldig genoten
We hadden een heerlijke week in het huis. Het heeft een prachtige ligging in een mooie wijk en mooi uitzicht over de stad, haven en zee. Het huis is ruim en met drie slaap- en badkamers uitgerust. De aanwezige spullen zijn toereikend en de service en prijs zijn meer dan royaal in balans. Een auto huren voor een paar dagen om het eiland te verkennen is een aanrader.

A beautiful house with a garden and balcony.
A complete (not luxury) house with a fantastic view in a quiet, friendly and not touristic neighbourhood. Going downtown is an easy walk and walking uphill to the house is a bit of a challenge, but there is also a busstop near the house.The owner provided very good service. We certainly want to go back.
When you like (levada)walks Madeira is paradise.
And last but not least: you get a lot for your money.
